Hello,

I have a possible suggestion for a mod. It may be too extensive. But, just a thought.

There doesn't seem to be alot of control of which business and house goes into our zoning classification. Working for the government and working daily with the planning department we see a plethora of business applications. Some are turned down due to many factors. My thought is that it would be cool if there was a mod to accept or not accept the type of business that is going in. You may be even able to setup code type regulations. ect ect. But, it would be cool if you received a request for building and had the ability to choose which business and which type of house goes in. It would be alot of micro-management. But, it may add another dimension of control to some players.

I thought about something like that before. Not easy, but it can be done.

Basically you have to pause the spawn/upgrade animation until the player permits it. There could be a special Icon on the building/empty plot.

You can use the preview renderer from BuildingThemes/MeshInfo to display the final building to the player. Or you can display the building on the plot (semi-transparent).

while I like the idea, one must think of the consequences for the gameplay and come up with a good balance other than individually grant each and every request. otherwise, once the city reaches a certain size, you end up clicking permits like crazy and get no time to develop your city anymore, because no permits = no growth = no requests = no growth and your city dies from bureaucrazy (typo intended). yes it would be a great addition to realistic simulation, but real cities get thousands upon thousands of requests and therefore have dedicated departments handling this; in C:S, we are everything on our own.

I agree completely. It would be cool if the game paused during the selection process like boformer mentioned above. This would give you the time you need to make decisions and not hinder gameplay too much. Also, an option could be added that could suspend the decision process at times if you just don't want to mess with it. Or, general rules could be set up. It would be just so cool to have more control about what goes in. It would be even interesting to make it into a story of sorts. You would have the possible business-home owner name, the picture of the possible structure ect ect. I wish I had the skillset to make something like this.
