commute time too long

I'd have HSR and bus station place around the map, and there's highway connecting each part of the map, and mix commercial and residential in a big grid instead of one side residential and one side commercial but building keeps getting abandon because of "commute time too long"

is there any way to fix it?

and also, offices (all high income)are half full, or nearly full, but still no jobs for high income citizens?

If you have not implemented the NAM, then do so.

Use your route query operator (ALT+/) to see what is happening on your roads.

Is it possible to get the HSR without the NAM?

All of the NAM component mods require the central controller to work.  Also, the most important part of the NAM is the core pathfinding fixes (helps that pesky abandonment due to commute time).  But you can always do a custom NAM install and opt out of most features if you don't want them.

Getting NAM is highly recommended. The default traffic-simulator has a lot of flaws. Getting your commute times right (and more importantly realistic) is quite difficult without NAM. In real life a lot of people are prepared to travel for a large distance to get to work. The distance the default simulator sees as 'far' is weigh to short (even though it seems a like a lot of space a large tile is only 4 kilometers, thus theoretically you could cover a lot of space by foot). If you don't have NAM this could explain a lot about your commute-time.

Another possibility might be that your residents cannot find the right jobs. If you have NAM and commute time is very long (even though you've got a good transportation-system) this could mean that you don't have the right jobs for those residents. Simcity is simulating certain jobs-patterns. Basically this means that the residents are 'looking' for a job every time. If they can't find the job this often means that there is no job that is fitted for this resident. You could fix this by developing the right areas. For example, if you've got a lot of poor citizens you might want to zone an industrial zone.

Also remember. High wealth isn't always better. A city that has a properly divided population is important. This doesn't only mean that you'll need high income citizens but also a large amount of poor and mid-income citizens. Those citizens will also work at high-income buildings. High-income buildings offer a lot of jobs to high wealth citizens but not all of them are high wealth (even so, a large part of the jobs available at those buildings are mid-wealth/low-wealth). It's really helpful to look at the RCI-demand. This will make it clearer which jobs/residents are needed. If this is properly divided your commute-times should decrease.

Yes, I always face Long Commute time even if I have NAM and have very low population.... Thanks for the tip.

i'd downloaded NAM, and have all road upgraded from street to road, and there's "double road", highway,HSR connecting each sector of the area, and my traffic is good, no traffic jam. i'd put bus station everywhere

Then as discussed earlier you have the wrong types of jobs for your Sims.  The default message is a "long commute time" but in this case in probably means "can't find a job at my level".

Take a look at your Jobs and Population graph.  You may have insufficient jobs for the classes that are being denied work.  Build more properties in those classes as needed.  Remember Sims:Jobs::2:1.

most of them are from high wealth civilians, and I'd got more than enough high wealth commercial/HT industry for them, some of them building are not even full!

Not assuming, but in case you didn't know, the set of numbers in the top right corner (xxx/xxx) when using the (?) Query a building does not represent the amount of Sims working there. The left set of numbers represents the amount of jobs available base on conditions like its location, where as the right set of numbers is the max amount of jobs the building could have if all conditions were perfect.

I believe without the ExtraCheat.dCheat.dll mod, it's very difficult to know the exact amount of Sims working in the building.

You can use the (/?) Query to get a rough estimate of workers since it's not a perfect science. Plus it's difficult to know which level of Sims are currently taking up the employment.

In addition to all this, you must not allow yourself to be deceived by the idea that a $$$ building contains all $$$ jobs.  At most they will have only a few, the rest being $$ and $ jobs.  If you have the extra cheats dll you can find the breakdown of any building by using the query (/) operator.  First activate the operator (/), then holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT move the operator onto the building in question.  You will get the developer's debug panel for that building which includes the number of jobs in the building by category.

It is easy to make assumptions about the meanings of the numbers in this game because it is not well documented.  Much information is left out as irrelevant to the gamer, but it turns out that this was a false assumption on the part of the documentation people.  The number of players who dearly want to keep statistics like a baseball coach is truly amazing.
