How Do I Add Mods To My Game?

When I click on the list of mods that is in the start screen, nothing happens.  Then I go into Steam and I don't see any place to actually add the mods.  Does anyone know how to add one of the mods from Steam workshop - or anyone else - into the game?

Thanks.

(Apparently Valve must be proud of their efforts to make Steam as unintuitive as possible!)

Hi, I downloaded a few earlier today. Go into Steam and CS game page click on steam workshop for Skylines then download the mods you want- over 1000 already although the majority are kinda crappy little parks and loads of ridiculous roundabouts and highway interchanges that could only have been created by folks who were either high or possessed by devils!  There are some nice maps. good luck

Once you've subscribed to an item in the Steam workshop, you'll need to enable it in your game. To do this, click "Content Manager" on the ingame main menu, navigate to the "Mods" tab and then check the checkbox labelled "On/Off"

It might also help to know where mods are installed to:

For Windows, mods are placed in: "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Mods"

Inside this "Cities_Skylines" folder, there's also place for maps & where saved games are stored.

Yea, the whole "Subscribe" thing on the Workshop threw me off too the first time I did it. You figure that if you want to download a mod, you look for a button that says "Download" not "Subscribe".

But yeah, hit Subscribe, and usually Steam should put it in the correct folder automatically. Though some mods may require you to move them yourself. Then just do as Samerton said.

I actually find the whole system fantastic, it's like having the Simtropolis exchange built into the game.

Another _very_ handy way is if you're online with steam and playing, you can  Shift-Tab to go directly to the steam overlay. Obviously don't do this with a Mac given the issues. Select the Community Hub and go to the Workshop. You can subscribe to mods right there. Shift-Tab to go back to the game.

Save, enable mod, reload game, et voila, that interchange you needed.
