If you're getting it with the controller marker icon still saying "r132" as it should, it means that the conflicting RUL Controller files are either from a NAM Controller predating the NAM Version 25 release of March 2009, or a non-NAM controller.

The only thing which can cause red arrows with a NAM release is an outdated conflicting controller that does not support the newer items.

Hmmm.. I have only used ver.29 before seeing as I played unplugged until march of this year. So that can not be the problem.

Are there any filepaths I can search my hard-drive for??

Also: Followed the reader-tutorial by Ebina and got this result.

Reader.jpg

As you can see, none of the RUL-files are colored :uhm:

One of the known incompatible controllers is the one that comes with the SPAM. If you have it, delete it. It is not required.

Well. That doesn't help me, don't have the SPAM. I only have the NAM installed, still not working though :(

Well, it was a thought. Under the circumstances, try deleting your entire NAM folder from your plugins and do a reinstall.

The SPAM Traffic Mod's controller files include a modified Traffic Simulator (completely incompatible with the NAM) and an Automata Controller file (which isn't ideal for NAM usage, but won't cause anything too severe). The issue yarahi reported is related to the RUL Controllers (which the SPAM Traffic Mod does not include).

I'm a bit stumped right now . . . I'd probably need to see some more images of how your Plugins folder is set up in order to pinpoint things. I'd also check the Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 (or SimCity 4 Deluxe)\Plugins folder as well.

Nothing in the Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 (or SimCity 4 Deluxe)\Plugins folder that shouldn't be there right now (sinc I tried reinstalling the game completely last night)... Here is what's in my (regular) plugins folder right now:

And from the NAM plugins folder:

That looks correct. Just out of curiosity, which button are you getting the red arrow on?

The icon at the bottom of the highway-menu (has the NAM-logo). It goes away if I remove the file called "NetworkAddonMod_a_Controller_Marker.dat" from my plugins

Oh, in that case, you don't have a "red arrow bug" at all--that's a dummy icon that doesn't have any pieces under it, so you're good to go.

Hi,

New to the STEX and NAM, here, so, please be patient (if possible ;-) ).

I'm currently attempting to use NAM 30 for Mac, however, my game freezes the moment I load a city or "enter" the name of a new one. I've looked around a place, but couldn't find anyone discussing such a problem. Has anyone ever heard of this situation?

Are you running the game on OS X Lion with the Aspyr patch by chance?

Where would I find the FLUPs for Trams traveling perpendicular to and below the GHSR? According to the documentation in this file [link], they exist in the GHSR starter tab ring. Yet I don't see them anywhere? Thanks.

Hopefully this is the correct place to post this...

I've been 'road-testing' ;) the latest NAM (v30) and most everything seems to be functioning as well as ever except for one tile. The tile in question calls itself ingame: 'Straight Rail under Perpendicular Straight Tram in Avenue'; this tile is the one that allows underground rail, GLR and avenue traffic (avenue traffic is at a tangent to the other two). The symptoms are: automata die as they move onto it and no traffic can pass over it in any direction. I don't have many mods so I don't think its a conflict but I'm no expert.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The GHSR FLUP pieces are the last three in the GHSR TAB rotation. The GLR-under-GHSR is the third from the end. It will have the reddish brown stripe indicating the direction of the traffic under the GHSR tracks. The reddish brown stripe indicates that the piece is "dual purpose". It will carry vehicle and GLR traffic.

Ok, here's whats going on. I downloaded NAM 30 mainly for the Traffic Simulator which is supposed increase network capacity (right?). So I installed it with meduim selected, then I started a new city. And nope, no difference, no job zots and abandoned houses (mostly medium houses) everywhere. So after that I uninstalled and then reinstalled it choosing high, and no change. The only difference I'm seeing is I have people walking to work.

    Help Please!

This is the same question posted here and responded to by Tarkus. - CaptCity

The fact that your Sims are walking to work shows that there is already some effect from the new traffic simulator, so this isn't a conflict with an older simulator. It could be a conflict with other mods, though, such as demand mods or traffic mods. Do you have any of those installed?

I've managed to isolate my problem to two files, NetworkAddonMod_High_ElRail_Plugin.dat and NetworkAddonMod_High_Monorail_Plugin.dat . These files cause my game to simply freeze when entering mayor mode, which makes that I have to force shutdown my computer.

As a reminder, I'm playing on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) with the Aspyr Universal Binary patch.

    Any ideas?

Move those two files out of your plugins, and run without those features of the NAM.

From what I understand of this issue, the Mac version has a limitiation on the maximum height that an elevated transit system may have, and if anything exceeds that limit the game crashes. It seems that the maximum height allowed is somewhere just about 15m, the height of the default El and monorail networks. The NAM double height networks are thus incompatible with the Mac version of the game, and the same problem may arrise with any prospective RHW mod with Level Three ramps and overpasses. The High El-Rail/Monorail being too high for the Mac versions is nothing more than a working hypothesis of mine, which I noted in one of the Mac forum threads. It also applies only to users who are running the program natively on an Intel Mac with a newer operating system (Mac OS X Snow Leopard/10.6 or Mac OS X Lion/10.7), using the Aspyr Universal Binary patch and without Rosetta.

Being a working hypothesis, it also hasn't been officially established. There's been no testing done yet (to my knowledge, there is no one on the NAM Team trying to run SC4 natively on newer OS X versions with the Aspyr patch), though I'm hoping to try posting a series of "lowered" files in the Mac forum to see if we can officially confirm or deny the height limit hypothesis.

  • I do use or have used all of those with various versions of NAM and never had a problem. However, it was not on a Mac, so I couldn't say there isn't a specific issue when using them in such a situation.

Ah, must have had some brain scrambling while reading through the last several posts...

Thought I would ask, since you mentioned Sims do walk to work, are they only walking, or do at least some drive? Also, do you have a left-hand or right-hand drive game?

No, they're driving too. I'm using right-hand drive.

Well, as long as you installed the right-side version of NAM, I would think, perhaps then, it might be how your city is laid out and how the simulator is treating it that is determining the traffic patterns. Just a thought...

Just curious but where did the Rail Viaduct Bridges go?

    I cant build them anymore

Did you recently install/reinstall NAM/ If so, did you have the Additional Bridges option selected during setup?
