FunForFree99 hasn't been around for a very long time.

Unfortunately there are quite a number of custom content buildings that ruin your garbage situation. You can use the garbage dataview window to spot where garbage is accumulating. The best advice would be to locate those lots that produce superfluous amounts of garbage, bulldoze them and remove them from your plugins (or use either Reader of SC4Tool to correct the garbage accumulation values of them). Any garbage that has already been accumulated in your city won't disappear though, until your sanitation department has taken care of it.

yeah i had that problem when i first started modding. i really hope you did not ovewrite the original simcity_1.DAT file because when you save changes to that file it will only save what you have done so you have to save it in your plugins folder with a new name.

You can tell if you overwriten it if the size of you sim_city1.DAT is much much less than it should be, it should be 141,161KB

JUST REMEMBER:

NEVER EVER OVEWRITE THE ORIGINAL simcity_1.DAT file
ALWAYS SAVE IT UNDER A NEW NAME IN YOUR PLUGINS FOLDER
AND TO STAY IN THE GREEN KEEP A BACKUP COPY OF THE simcity_1.DAT

p.s. if you cant find the original 141,161KB file ANYWHERE then your gonna have to reinstall simcity4

I HOPE THIS HELPS AND THAT YOU FIND YOUR ORIGINAL simcity_4.DAT FILE

First of all, you cannot add completely new ordinances, you can only tweak existing onces to have new meaning and new effects.

The property 0x2A631000, Residential Demand Effect, was probabably intended for this purpose you're looking for. However, my personal experience is that it doesn't have any effect, and that is probably just as good; since if you were able to increase the residential demand, you would only get a lot of abandonment due to unemployment instead.

Residential demand will come as soon as there are jobs available, so increasing commercial or industrial demand will indirectly increase residential demand as well.

When installing NAM use a path finding option that increases the speed of the commuters (10×Speed).

If you already have that one installed, then you need to mod the Traffic Simulator exemplar yourself (contained in NAM's path finding file). A separate mod would conflict with the NAM itself.

So Should I re-install the NAM and change the pathfinding?? Will that damage my existing transport network?

Any chance of someone giving me a step by step tutorial on how to fix my commute up using the NAM

Also I played around with the ordiance to try and get rid of garbage for good, but now I'm stuffed. I changed the garbage effect on the tyre recycling ordiance and the trash presorting ordiance. Could someoneplease give me the original values and also could someone help me get rid of garbage for good.

Thanks.

In order to ensure that only one pathfinding file remains, you might first unistall your current NAM and then reinstall it. And your existing transport network will remain intact, as long as you reinstall all options you installed originally.

If you decide not to uninstall the current version, just remember to check your plugins\NetworkAddonMod folder after you've reinstalled it and remove any superfluous pathfinding file. Only leave the one you want to use!

Since you seem to already have made some modding yourself, I assume you have some experience with the Reader. Open the path finding file in Reader and locate the Traffic Simulator exemplar (there are only two exemplars within the path finding file, and the other one is only for plotting the graphs).

You should pretty easily find the properties Max speed by Network for...

By changing them you can experiment and see what settings suit your needs.

In order to get rid of garbage you need to use one of those custom incinerators (garbage to energy plants) available at STEX. There are both balanced ones and cheating ones. My personal favourites are those made by RalphaelNinja.

In order to remove the effect of any mod, just remove it from your plugins folder and the original exemplars contained within simcity_1.dat will be used instead.

Otherwise, if you follow my post on the previous page of this thread, you would also know how to find the in-game ordinances and the properties set therein.

You might also be interested in this thread. Close to the end of that thread there is a mod that resets all Maxis ordinances.

I have a question, doesn't look like it's been answered on here.  I'd like to modify my airports so that they don't attract an unreasonable amount of crime like they do now (in a city of 200,000 people I LINED my airport with deluxe police stations and it was still consistently orange).  I've been looking through Ilive but I don't see any obvious variable for crime.  Does the crime in SC4 work on a much larger scale or am I missing something?

That's a bug with large lots which cannot be corrected (other than by editing and recompiling the source code).

However, RalphaelNinja's Crime Doesn't Pay mod increases the efficiency of the police stations and will help.

Does someone know how to edit maintenance costs of transit network (roads, rail etc.)? And how about modding the prices of the bridges?

In the ilive reader, what does the numbers for the speed of vehicles mean? For example, 3.5 for walking speed(i know its not a vehicle)

Does it mean 3.5 tiles per second, and if not what does it mean?

When I used the modified dat_1 file, the screen goes black, and then goes back to the window screen, but when the game uses the original dat_1, it works fine.

Is there any modification I shouldn't have done? All the modifications I did had to do with simoleons, radius, pollution level, and one that had to do with the

building stages.

Never modify the game's DAT files! You should copy the specific exemplars you are editing to a new DAT file with the Reader and save the new DAT file, which will load after the game's files.

If the mods you downloaded were KBI files, you should not use them. They modify the game's DAT files and you will have to reinstall the game in order to remove their effects on the game.

What do you mean by mod? They look like house LOTs, give us some more info about what you've created and what you are trying to achieve.
