Well, I don't want to rain or your parade, but I am dressing up in my usual shorts and tee shirt.  I've kicked in for the kids who come to the door downstairs, and we usually have a nice spread for them.  This is a secure building, so no trick or treaters get in.

I am very much afraid that All Hallows Eve has become far too  commercial these days.  The important holiday is Nov. 1st: All Saints Day.

From ghoulies and ghosties and things that go bump in the night may the good Lord preserve us.

Halloween, like most holidays now, has been polluted by "Satan's little helpers" in advertising and marketing - so I don't participate. The only holiday they haven't gotten a hold of is Thanksgiving, but now they just ignore it in favor of "Black Friday" which happens the very next day. In the last couple of years, it starts on the afternoon of Thanksgiving. They're trying to run that holiday out of consumer's minds.

Sad.

Normal as always, till 1900 hours, at the party of my best friend.
I was thinking in costume something such as a zombie hunter. I have mostly everything: my pair of biker boots and gloves, and my ripped black jeans. I was loking for a gas mask, but I think a cowboy hat will come great also artificial blood witll give drama. I just have a problem: my hunting knife is in the ranch and I don't have time this weekend to go for it.

Another costume that I was thinking to diguise too was Fortran... but how to make a costume of a programming language.

The last time I dressed up for Halloween and went trick-or-treating was in the fifth grade. By next year, I'd completely outgrown this whole thing, and I think that kids in high school just continue doing it for the free candy. I just open the door for kids that come by, and since there weren't a lot of kids in my neighborhood (probably not so much the case anymore), I'd end up with half a bag of candy left. So, I'd end up getting some candy out of it anyway. :P

No dressing up here. It's not really a thing in Belgium, but it was less important when I was young. The influence of Anglo-Saxon culture is quite strong.

I'm going to wear a hazmat suit or better yet fake blood around my eyes, nose and mouth and pretend I'm vomiting and retching.

Nah not really, but I bet some jackass is going to pretend to be an ebola victim to scare people s less this Halloween.

. That's pretty offensive. I wouldn't make fun of a disease outbreak that's killing thousands. But, you know what? People are offensive and insensitive. But I digress.

Anyway, I'm gonna sit at home, play piano, and watch Beetlegeuse.

Why, what's wrong with Betelgeuse?  It's not all that bad a movie.

Besides Betelgeuse the star has probably gone nova by now and the light might reach us soon.

I was alluding to the Burton movie of the same name.  Fun fact: It's rated PG but has the "F bomb" in it.  I like surreal films like that.

I don't dress up anymore, and I haven't for years, but I do like to walk around outside just to see the kids having fun and the decorations people put up. Plus, there's this guy in a neighborhood near mine that puts on a pretty cool tesla coil music performance. He has a robotic arm that gives people candy, too.

I find it pretty silly that there are still teenagers my age (16) who go trick-or-treating. They're just candy-moochers. I don't think its fair to the young kids who really get into the whole thing.

Halloween is offensive. People should not be upset by it. Cultural appropriation, stereotypes, and sensitive subjects like mental illness are all fair game unless one is an SJW, or RadProg PC police.

Dressing up on Halloween is not really much of a thing in the Netherlands, though celeberties here do dress up as creeps for creep-balls. It's not trick or treat here, but in some subcultures, it's a time to dress up in horror themed costume and make-up. Funny enough, only adults do this here :P

When I was a kid (a couple of generations ago) one of the tricks on Halloween was to move someones outhouse back a couple of feet after dark.

I've read stories of people tipping over outhouses and port-a-potties while someone was inside them, if that has any relevance.

Not nearly as much fun as the loud scream, splash and subsequent bluing of the air.

I'll be sitting around in comfy pajamas probably either watching TV or doing something SC4-related.

I have no interest in either the child or "adult" (if you can call it that) aspects of this "holiday".  I had outgrown the former by about the time I was 10 and was at no point ever interested in the latter.  If I wanted to run around like an idiot and get wasted, I don't need a holiday to make occasion for it.

Halloween, like most holidays now, has been polluted by "Satan's little helpers" in advertising and marketing - so I don't participate. The only holiday they haven't gotten a hold of is Thanksgiving, but now they just ignore it in favor of "Black Friday" which happens the very next day. Sad.

Well, that is the U.S. situation.  In Canada, Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October.  It just gives us a nice long weekend without an overdose of hype.

No, they've gotten that too - hence the very "existence" of black Friday.

Black Friday is good if you happen to come across a good deal, which you can.  For instance, I'm purposely holding off on the SSD upgrade for my laptop until Cyber Monday just to see if it goes on sale - doesn't hurt to wait.  That said, I will never be the fool who camps outside JCPenney's or wherever else at 2 am to save $2 on a toaster that does long division.  Personally, I prefer to have my Christmas shopping done by the close of October.

Why, what's wrong with Betelgeuse?  It's not all that bad a movie.

Besides Betelgeuse the star has probably gone nova by now and the light might reach us soon.

Seeing something like that is actually fairly high on my list of "things I hope I get to see."  Seriously.

As far as Christmas shopping goes, I don't do any.  My family is all grown up, and I am too old to bother much with Saturnalia.  Besides, nobody worships Saturn anymore.

As a side note, I've actually had the pleasure of tipping over an outhouse.  I was maybe 15 at the time, and once I got the thing rocking at the right frequency it fell over pretty easily.  Mind you, this was in the summer, in daylight and without anybody in it (missed opportunity?).  Call it a landscaping design gone wrong and my parents allowed me to do the honors.  I also was in the vehicle that towed it on a motorcycle trailer down one of the main streets in town.  Not something you see every day and honestly it was pretty embarrassing.

Halloween? Well, it really has a bad concept here in the Philippines as people are very conservative, quote and quote. Well anyway, I am not really fond of any holidays except for the fact that I get to wake up later. ;)

I don't normally dress up since I outgrew the trick-or-treat thing a while back, but my Halloween consists of scary movies, music, and TV shows, decorations, and perhaps a visit to a haunted house attraction.  Being a Texan, I like the ones that have chainsaws.  :D   Oh, and I do try to score some candy at the store when it's 50% off.

Uhmmm,i`m going out as a NY Rowhouse with a "No Energie" Zot on my head.....

Naa,just kidding, but maybe i will make myself a Sims Plumbbob for my head.

Speaking of Halloween, yesterday i read in the local newspapers that  they will level up the police presence for the Halloween Night with more Squadcars roaming around and more controlls.Last year they catched a few youngsters with a few crates of eggs and of course conficated them.

I`m just wondering if this is a worldwide phenomenon that everywhere more cops are around at that night or is it just us here in Germany?

BTW,i love 47ply`s idea, evenit may be quite offensive because of all that Ebola.

But a good portion of sarcasm is always a nice thing.
