Is anyone working on a Y interchange for Ground and Elevated Highways. Not like the Y stack for avenues but more like a lower case y where the one road continues straight and the other road that T's into it goes diagonal or the one road could go diagonal and the other road T into it orthanglely. Also once I had seen a picture in one of the NAM threads of the unique round stack interchange on I-787 in downtown Albany. Is there anyway an interchange like that could be included in the NAM? Thanks for your time and consideration.42.gif

I have a medium city with a high population and very high density. I currently have an el-rail running between two one way streets headed in opposite directions (ostensibly an avenue with el-rail in the middle) but would like to convert my el-rail to subway and extend a monorail line down the right-of-way. Problem is, the land around the artery is densely populated so I would rather not bulldoze a building here and there to put in a subway station. My MODing skills... don't exist.

Anybody care to cook up a subway-station that can be placed underneat a monorail track or--better yet--a 1X3 monorail station+subway station. That would be uber-nifty.

Heck, what about a monorail+el-rail station... 2x3 tiles. Or 1x3 el-rail+subway station.

Thanks, all.

I wouldn't mind seeing something called a Texas Turnaround Diamond Interchange .  The TTDI would be for both ground and elevated highways' interchanges with avenues.

Here are pics of the TTDI in action.  Elevated first, then ground.

Elevated:

The Texas turnaround are extremely functional and smart, yet found only in TX why?!?42.gif

I cannot recall any other states have the same well-evolved network of frontage roads, upon which the TTDI relies which is why we're not used to seeing them. Maybe suburban South Florida.

the TTDI would be somewhat useless on a regular diamond. it's main function is to allow people travelling on one side of freeway's the frontage road to U-turn and travel on the other side of the freeway's frontage road to reach a business or home facing the other side of the freeway.

however... I can think of at least three ways to do the TTDI using NAM and Hole-Diggers. Okay, the middle configuration wouldn't be very useful... but if you have a large system of frontage or C/D roads than I think the left and right option would be useful.

Keep in mind, though, TTDI's consume a lot of space in SC4 (and often in real life). I can really only see them useful in a suburban city.

Actually that is not very accurate. I live in the Austin area which is the capital of Texas, and is a very big metropolitan area and the TTDI is used even in downtown austin, living closely among the skyscrapers. In some tight areas they still have a TTDI but they squeeze it together to take up less space, so there is no median in the middle. This type of application is far from suburban, as it is even in use in Metropolitan locations as well all over Texas. Places such as Dallas and Fort Worth, San Antonio, El Paso, and even Houston Texas have TTDI intersections, and all of the cities listed are huge metro areas. But you know what they say... Everything is bigger in Texas.

I would love to see some monorail puzzle pices similar to the ones used for the El-Rail so we can have a monrail runnning right over a road, which would look far better in a downtown setting, which would also mean that we would most likely need a station as well which I know would not be part of the NAM.

Hi,

ok, it would surprise me, if this hasn't been asked before, but just to make sure if it hasn't (I'm too lazy to read 20 pages now 2.gif)

How are the chances of GLR/Busstop - Road Doubledeckers which allow RCI-Development alongside?
strassenbahn1_gr.jpg

Another great thing would be Avenues with an included GLR in the middle, somethinglike this:

Yes,i know, there are plenty of examples shown in the GLR-Thread. But i was thinking about an integrated and ready to use Avenue where simply the Divider is replaced with a GLR/Tram-Track, perhaps some trees as eyecandy, as seen on the picture.

The overlooked single point interchange.  In my opinion, all diamond intersections should be converted to this more efficient version that takes up much less space.  Anyway, I would also like to see this intersection in SC4

The Freeway-Pictures gave me another idea:

freewayround2jp.jpg

A Freeway-Road-Connection via a Roundabout, something often found e.g. in The Netherlands and Great Britain (Among many other countrys)
Must look weird to most Americans, but in Europe this stlye becomes more and more popular, 'cause Roundabouts are usually cheaper than Trafficlights in a long term (Lower Maintenance Costs).

Asimov: We have lots of those here in Sweden, it's often built where the highway is a bit sunken so the roundabout is almost flat.

I would like to see a station for the elevated rail over road. Ideally, the station would be on top of the + intersection. This is how it often is with the elevated rail in NYC. The train runs parallel to the road, with the station occuring at an intersection with another road, and often with a transfer to underground subway and busses in the same location.
TOP TO BOTTOM
El rail + station
----------------------------
street/ road/ ave +
bus stop and subway station entrance +
intersecting street/ road/ avenue
----------------------------
 subway station

THANKS!!!!!!

Am not sure where this request go ?

I like the idea. We have stations like that here in Denmark.

Not at all weird to Americans, that is, if you live in Massachusetts like I do. We do have a few of those hanging around here.

If someone has already requested this, I am sorry, but I have read this topic like 20 times before and dont remember this being said, but I would really love to see left-handed exits for the multi-highways.  Also a way to switch froma regular highway to the connector lanes.  And lastly an exit from a highway that is sort of like a T-interchange, but with fewer lanes, a road one, instead because sometimes I want to put an exit on a highway w/o having both sides of the highway having access.

Yeah, that would be cool if NAM had those. People have alot of creative ideas here, but I'm afraid NAM won't do most of them.45.gif

if it hadn't already been requested, a left hand T-interchange for highways and Avenues (where the exits/Enterance for the T is on the left). and a No Left Turn mod for highways/oneway streets (so i can make my sims do a Michigan Left)

median-1.bmp and median-2.bmp
