Good Job, the way you presented Parkside looks very realistic.

More updates on the way, and next time, I will make sure that the pictures are not so big (I will try to fix it if it is a huge issue).

Thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions. I have been working on transforming my island to make it...not so Maxis-y...I'll post some 'construction' pics as soon as I upload them on Photobucket. So, hopefully I'll be able to get those up tomorrow. Schulmanator: Thanks! Jacqulina: Thank you for the compliments! Victor Valdes: Thank you. I probably plan out my individual cities based on what it will look like in the region view moreso than any other factor lol. Patricius Maximus: Yeah, I completely agree with the custom buildings. I've been on a recent downloading spree, and I am in the process of replacing my schools, hospitals, etc. And I just love the way the trees look, especially in the region view. Thanks! Archean: The downtowns of my cities def. look kinda generic to me too! But thanks for saying you like my regions! crazychickensc12: Thank you for your help! I have been looking, I haven't found what I wanted yet, although I did find a water one I liiked. danielcote: The commute times are okay....not as good as I would like, but better than any of my cities that have highways in them, I don't know if that is just coincidence, or if (as I think) highways suck haha! Thanks! pingangster: Thanks! I'll have to see if you have a cj on here. Also, thanks for the terrain suggestions, I'll probably use them! Again, thanks all, stay tuned for updates soon! -Cody

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions! Vigilante1987a- I used to have photoshop, but now I don't really have any photo editing software. I downloaded the GIMP with hopes that I could use it to edit my pics, but it doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions? Crazychickensc12- I actually noticed my lack of custom content, and I have been trying to work on making over areas with a lot of the same buildings, so I'll continually be working on that. I was actually looking for terrain mods last night, do you have any suggestions? If I didn't mention you, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the comment! I'll be posting updates of the other large city in this region later today.

Here are some pics of the other boroughs. Description: Here is West Kherrington with the West Village Description: Downtown West Kherrington. Description: Low density areas of West Kherrington Description: This is almost the entire borough of West Hill. It is mostly low density residential. The terrain is very hilly and there are lots of forests. Description: Downtown West Hill. There are some medium density commercial areas, but no dense residential. Description: This is some of the industrial area of West Hill. This part of town is also a rail hub.

Here are some shots of the main city Kherrington--I'll post my map as soon as I finish it on paint. City: Kherrington (CARE-ing-ton) Mayor: Marcie Zeiwigteist Population: 294,000(-ish, I can't remember!) Kherrington is organized into three boroughs and one village: Kherrington, West Kherrington, West Hill, and the West Village. The first shots are of Kherrington, the largest of the boroughs. Here is a map of the city and boroughs: Description: This is downtown Kherrington. It is pretty much the entire Island, called Essicks Island. I want to give this area a makeover. There is a subway system on this island. Description: This is lower Essicks Island. This area used to be all dense industry, but I used my mayor's prerogative and changed it high density residential. I like to keep my zones mixed, it makes commutes more reasonable. This part of the island also has the main rail station. I want to get a better station, but as of now, the default one works fine. The rail volume on the island is about only 1000 (up to 2900 though) commuters, mostly from the city south. Description: Here is a view of the densest parts of the city. The large forested area left of the island used to be development, but when Marcie Zeiwigteist became mayor, one of her first policies was to increase forested areas by 100%. Description: This is the Upper Peninsula Neighborhood. Description: Here is the the University District--well, basically just the university. The main island is to the right of the picture. Description: Industrial area. The raised avenue is pretty much as close as I get to a highway in this city. I am pretty proud of it I want to plant more trees in this area. Description: Here is 'Midtown' How original. It is the middle part of the island. That is all of Kherrington for now. I'll post pictures of the other 2 boroughs and 1 village after this.

Well, I have been on Simtropolis for 4+ years (I think...) and a sim city player for at least 8...so I thought now would be the time to showcase one of my cities! And so we have the Kherrington Metro Area. I don't have any story or anything, I just wanted some feedback on what I have gotten so far. This is my only city that I am playing, all of my others were....deleted . I have been playing it for about 10 months....that is a long time, but I only go on maybe one day a week (I am in School, so I am usually working on that) So the following three pics are regional views. I will post some pictures of my main city after this post, so as to keep my thread semi-organized. Here is the regional transportation view. You all can probably see that I do not like highways....I like them in real life, but if I can't make my exits and interchanges how I want them, I think I like my cities better without them. Also, being an Oregonian, I don't like them anyways Although, in the left corner, I could not help myself from the RHW and I used some elevated avenues on some areas (look down and right of the Island). It is all hand terraformed, too...not that I think this is significant, I just cant figure out how to download regions lol. Here is that area, Aerial: I like trees haha. My main city, Kherrington is in the center, around the island. I try to keep high density and treed arcreage at the very least 1:1. I also do not like putting highways in my cities, I don't like them where I live, so why would I put them in my cities? here is just a closer regional view. So thanks all for looking, I'll post individual city updates!

How do YOU name your cities?
smartlake replied to `Shotgun Nosejob`'s topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I just come up with Random things. In my region that I am working on the main city is called Kherrington. All of the suburbs are faux-English. Like, instead of the suffix -shire, I changed it to -shur. I have Esiksshur (taken from Essexshire), Devinshur (from Devonshire), Suffikshur (Suffolk) and I have some -shurs that make no sense such as Noehshur, Heiligshur, Kherringtonshur. And then I threw in cities with the names of Mexico and Alhambra for the hell of it. -
Nice job on the city! Good work! Cody

Could that map be any more racist? I must have forgotten about the thriving economy of Russian and how comfortably they live...Oh, and Bosnia and the Ukraine...silly me... That map is disgustingly racist...all the "more developed" countries are majority white! What about South Korea? Hong Kong? Singapore? Argentina? Chile? Uraguay? the Bahamas? I know that most of the countries I listed don't live as comfortable as the US or Canada or Sweden, but their incomes are higher than a lot of Eastern Europe countries. Albania comes to mind...

Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Isands, WA. state, where I was born, I grew up on nearby minor island, that doesn't even have a town on it. But this is where I was born. Maximum image size is 800 x 600 - MM Coeur d'Alene, where I live. This is out of date, but this is a pretty good pic of d/t. There is acutually another 18 story bldg. towards the left-center of the picture, with another 18 story bldg under construction. There are more bldgs that have been proposed and should be starting construction within the next few months. Not bad for a city of 40,000. -
Urbanism and Planning in Action
smartlake replied to cityhawk's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Well I live in Kootenai County Idaho (Coeur d'Alene). When I first moved here, the population was 65,000. Now 15 years later it is like 135,000. That is nearly a 100% increase, and by 2020, the population is expected to be something like 250,000, in only another 15 years. Idaho is consistenly the 3rd-5th fastest growing state, and nearly ALL of that growth occurs is in one of three counties (Canyon & Ada (Boise Met) or Kootenai (Spokane-Coeur d'Alene Met) both are nearly identical in size). Most of the growth in Kootenai County is expected to occur in Post Falls, Rathdrum, Hayden, Spirit Lake-Athol-Bayview. THe city of Coeur d'Alene can't really gorw that much more, as it is surrounded by water on 2 sides, moutains to the east, Hayden to the North and Post Falls To the East. That is why we are growing ^UP^, not .
