Patience... Network Widening Mod (NVM) is in the works... Preview

And in case you ask... It will be released when it's ready...

Prefabricated RHW-interchanges are much requested, but it's not going to happen. This is because RHW-interchanges are usuallt larger than 16x16 tiles, the maximum size of a puzzle piece. Also, making 3D transit models required for these interchanges is very time-consuming. By the way, the RHW is designed to make your own interchanges. With just a few pieces, you can make quite complex interchanges.

Okay. But i just hope they will try to make it easier to build RHW interchanges, there are some bugs when you are deleting pieces (it sometimes deletes more than you have marked).

If you've run into that sort of a situation, it's likely because you have a starter stub laying around.

We are always trying to find ways to improve functionality and stability in interchange making, though, and to that end, we will have a series of new "Filler Pieces" included, to aid in building in those "tight spaces" where starter pieces may prove problematic.

howza bout diagnal interchanges? right now we have orthadonal+diagnal, but what about diagnal+diagnal? and not just elevated highways, but ground highways?

and the smooth curves, the trumpet interchange, and the Y interchange; they're all for GROUND highways. What about elevated highways? they aren't chopped liver, right?

I'm writing a trilogy.

I am requesting on this thread for the following things I know it can take a long time to finish, but listen this is what I want and need or we want and we need in mine or our cities. I'm looking forward for some avenues with median lane, one way roads that are 3 and more lanes wide and im also want some ele. rail lines that go over the avenues and oneway roads and I did not mean crossing them only as I all ready know we have some of those, I mean following over them as well. It would be kind of cool to see ele bridges with avenue, road, and one way roads below them, and also double decker highways and bridges would also be nice to see in the game as well.

After z released his magnificent GLR-to-Subway transtions (also part of the RTMT), I realized there was yet another transition missing; the Tram-in-Road to El-over-Road transition. This would be a great way to combine two of the greatest feautures of the NAM.

I've tried to make a sketch of my thoughts, which is basically an "inverted" subway transition:

What do you guys think?

In the "Give credit where credit is due" department, I just wanted to mention that (as described in the Readme) it was Xyloxadoria who built the models and did most of the work for these transitions.  My name is on the upload because it's part of RTMT; my actual role was limited to giving a little bit of assistance and leading the testing.

As for your idea (were you the one who posted this at SC4D?), it's certainly quite possible; somebody just has to do it.  It gets mentioned from time to time, so it certainly seems like something that people would find useful.

Thank you for your feedback, z.

Of course, you're right: Give credit were credit is due. Sorry about that.

I haven't posted a similar request at SC4D (allthough I thought of doing so..), but I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one to miss this piece. Hopefully it will be made by someone.

Hello.

I am new round here and I heard that you can request things, right?

If it's possible, I would really like to have the palace of Versailles for SimCity 4 Rush Hour. I would like to have the palace with all the gardens - in the correct scale (ie make it huge)

Thank-you very much 4.gif

I'm with heitomat on the tram-in/on-road to EL-over-road think. Would be a cool and useful addition to the game. And thanks for all the work you guys do here! Great Job.

This is actually a thread about requesting Transit Items. I believe that you should post this request at the BAT Request Thread

Does there exist? or is there currently in development, soft/wide curves, multiple lane NAM pieces for the elevated highway. I know they exist for the ground Highway, but I find that the three lane elevated highway has been somewhat neglected in this respect...

Moving to the Request thread.

Do you have any update about FAR diagonal roads sets (the ones that are not 18,4 or 71,6 deg?).I know you were working on other sets, but i didn't see them in new NAM.Did you make any progress with them?Or did you encounter some problems?

Well, i'm just looking for their current status, so that's not really a request or, more precisely, i'm requesting some previews if you have any 3.gif.

Unfortunately, the remainder of the FAR project is currently on hold due to lack of manpower. As a member of the NAM Team, I'm very interested in seeing these happen too, and I'm going to do what I can to get these going again.

What about a 6-Lane Avenue?

The current Maxis Avenue is 4-Lane.

It can happen that you may need to upgrade an Avenue, but a Highway just doesn't make it (you get my point..)

It could occupy 3 grids! (As opposed to the Standard Avenue, which uses 2 grids.)

rtyb:

Try the Network Widening Mod. This allows for a six lane avenue by using a modified override of the road network. You must also download the May 2010 NAM to be able to use it.

Interstate On-Slope/Off-Slope Puzzle pieces would be great.  I have to switch to avenue before placing overpasses for non raised interstates.. here's pics as an example.

Unfortunately, that's not possible.  Subways are the only form of underground transportation where you can zone on top of them.

There is this thing that bothers me of the NAM, or, to be more specific, the RHW. I find it very disturbing that this wonderfull, realistic, and jawdropping mod just doesn't have a colour on the transportation map. I also dislike the disability of expanding your elevated network pieces to 3, 4 or 5 lanes, like you can with the ground version.

I know the extra lanes for elevated mototway might have not been discussed and/or worked on yet, as z1 noted a lack of manpower earlier in this forum. Also, I know that the missing colour in the region has to do with the .exe files in the game, but there are "network overrides" (like plopping the ground light rail starter piece to override the elevated light rail) that will show the colour of the original network.

My request would be that there is a starter piece for the original maxis ground (and elevated) motorway, and use the RHW tool primarely for expanding the amount of lanes and make turn-of lanes. This wouldn't only give the colour on the transport map in the region, or at least on the parts of RHW where maxis motorway is overrided, but will also enable the use of tunnels without having to abruptly ending the RHW and create a tunnel with another tool.

I loved the FARR diagonal roads, but I would love to see the same thing, but next time with avenues. Also possibly with the elevated rail.

Also if it is possible to make FARR avenue pieces, than there should be FARR highway pieces (not RHW), as well as the new widened roads from the network widening mod.

Also when using the rail pieces for curve (whether it be for 45 degrees or with the FARR), it is impossible to have very compact curves when you have two parallel rail lines. This is very irritating when you want to run multiple rail lines, but at the same time keep them compact.

Also curving elevated highway and elevated road/avenue puzzle pieces would be nice. There's the curving elevated rail puzzle piece in the new NAM, and I was hoping for a similar piece for elevated highways and avenues.

Also double height elevated roads. Like the double height monorail or elevated rail pieces, it would be fantastic to have double height elevated road pieces.

Also something that I've been wishing for for some time now is something to go under the elevated highways. I understand that there are those pieces that overhang so you can place things like parking lots under elevated highways. Like the El Rail facelift mod by MIncroabl, I was hoping for something similar for elevated highways if it is possible. I'm not asking for anything extravagent, just plain concrete would do. and it would be nice if they could be under the elevated cloverleafs, exit/entrance ramps, etc...

I don't really hope for something like this to be part of the NAM, but maybe as a plugin. If theres anyway for me to do this I would want to.

I thank you for the great effort and for sharing the NAM with everyone.
