I'd be interested in seeing elevated rail over avenue puzzle pieces, over one side of the avenue (sided), the median of the avenue (centered), or a four-track system covering the whole dang thing (double sided), transfers for these pieces (double-sided to centered), pieces going over avenue/avenue and avenue/road intersections, elevated rail over avenue stations, etc. I made a list of the pieces I thought up, but I don't know how to show it, since it is made in Notepad.

Just put a one way road on each side of a el-rail. Just make sure the towo roads go in oppersite directions. 3% of people fail at this stage

I had posted this in another forum but I think it is more appropriate here.

I'd like to request this type of interchange.

...Or how about a re-texturing of highways to match the texture of roads/avenues?  That way there is nice, black, smooth asphalt on the highways like there should be.

yes -- either way. I just think that highways and avenues should have the same exact texture. It looks too wierd the way it currently is.  I also HATE the concrete borders they stuck on ground highways.

Yeah those concrete borders are both ugly and unrealistic.

Really; GLR/Road Diagonals. You can't live without them!

Here are my requests:

Additional interchanges between freeways and arterials (ie- road, avenue) such as a cloverleaf (a compressed one)

Double Decked highway with the upper level carrying one direction and the lower level carrying another direction

Tunnels that go under water

The ability to connect cities via crossings

Collector/Distributor Roadways (not like lakeboys where you have to demote them to oneways to cross another road)

Better intergration of frontage roads

Sunken highways that are easier to lay out

More street lamp options

Double decked bridges

Wider freeways (4 lanes each way, or HOV lane) or perhaps with shoulders

More realistic looking freeways

I know that most of the above is probaly impossible but you never know until you ask! 3.gif

The new Rural Highway download looks much better. It's still concrete, but it's divided and has shoulders rather than side barriers. Unfortunately there's still a lot of work to be done on it (interchanges, better curve & transition textures, etc). That'll probably be lumped into the next NAM.

blahdy has made a magnificent version of Boston's underground freeway, including underground access ramps. Using this method, at least you could get a highway to tunnel underneath the water. Get it at https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=16428. Sunken highways are a breeze with the hole-digging lots and the NAM's roadway puzzle pieces (which include pieces that bridge straight across a 45-degree slope so that you don't get a "bumpy bridge"). I'm assuming you haven't tried this, but if you have and it's still not easy enough for you I really doubt it'll get any better. And as I mentioned in the above reply, the Rural Highway looks fantastic--much better than the game version--as long as it's straight. For interchanges and bridges you'll have to transition it to a regular game highway for the time being.

Originally posted by: prince_of_sims it's not impossible, it's just impractical and an honest to goodness waste of time. all network pieces require path files, and path files that carry the same type of traffic (i.e. cars) in the same direction (as would be the case with any double-decker network) cannot be overlaid. well, saying can't might be going too far, but overlaying them cause bugs in the game.quote>
A double-decker highway would carry the same type of traffic in different directions though. And for roads/highways, couldn't the upper deck be "eye candy" while the lower deck (the only one actually carrying the traffic) be altered to allow more vehicles or faster speeds to reduce congestion? Just a brain fart since I'm clueless about modding.

On a similar note, elevated highways seem bland to me and largely pointless unless there's something under them... how about we see some parked cars under there to use the space more responsibly?

I wonder if this has been already requested? Having the Ability to place 2,4,6,8 or even 10+ Lanes on Interstate? and the same with Avenues?

I'm gonna respond to you all at once:

I know about blahdy's Big Dig...I have it but I cant use it in UDI mode.

The double decked highway is seemingly dead.

I have tried the sunken highways but I still never get the slope...it all evens out again once I'm done...what I was saying was that it would be nice if I could lay out a suken highway the way you would lay any other highway

I've seen little progress with the eight lane freeway

Could anybody point me to the respective links of anything I mentioned that is already out or in the making?
