I don't think this is any kind of record but I played SC4 Deluxe today for four and one-half hours solid.  I had a few seconds break when I switched from hardware rendering to software.  On this machine, software rendering is better.

haha there have been days in my past (when I was single and no kids) and when I lived alone where I'd play SimCity hours straight. If I had those moments again! :)

SC4? That'd probably be about 5 to 6 hours. I cannot play SC4 for any longer than that before I get a bit angry  ;) .

I've once played a game called DayZ for more than 14 hours. I had a 15 minute break (Dinner) and a few short toilet breaks. It was great fun!

Sometimes I've had a few ten hour plus sessions...

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Longest I had is around 5 hours or maybe longer, I really cannot recall the exact time but surely it isn't longer than 10 hours. I need to get my eyes some rest too once in a while.

Hahahaha. No need for that. Windows have its own magnifier, oops I forgot you are using Ubuntu. Well anyhow, too much screen time is bad for the health. :D

The longest I have played SC4 continuously is probably around 4 hours.  I did play DOOM once for about 8 hours straight (that was back in the day I was single).

Weak!! If your session doesn't include an empty beercan at your desk "for nature" - i call your city grind amateur at best! :P

To be honest, i've done some degrading grind sessions. Falling asleep on the keyboard as an adult playinf a video game...

Linux has one too, but the hand glass is a lot simpler with they keyboard taken over by the game.  Besides, I only need it for the game and it is a lot of overhead.  At the 1080p resolution and my flaky vision, this is much simpler.

At best, I've played SC4 for two hours straight :) that's it. I can't sit and do something for that long without getting bored or something of that sorts.

Back when I had an unhealthy addiction to the game, I could literally spend from 4AM on a Saturday morning to 8PM, a solid ~16 hours. Needless to say, that's not my lifestyle anymore. :P

Back in the days, when I was in vacation, it was perfectly normal to wake up around 10:30, start playing at 11:00 to have a recess at 14:15. Had lunch, watched the Simpsons and at 15:00 I was there again till 20:30. Recess for dinner and TV news watching and on again from 22:00 to 00:00 or 1:00. This makes 10 hours 45 minutes. Still a short time, after what I have seen here.

Longest session of uninterrupted play or without the game crashing? I don't think I've ever kept track. But I guess my longest would have been 6 - 8 straight hours (with breaks). I must have been seriously into something to play that long.

At one time, I'd probably fit into the 4-6 hour range. Although now with work and things, I rarely even play that long anymore.

Nowadays I find it more interesting to play in short bursts.

I use to play all day, but now I have a partner who likes me to spend time with him. He hasn't got the SimCity bug like me. So I play it when he's working. He does let me have a hour here and there haha

It really depends on my mood I have 10 hrs at times. My question to you would be how long have you let the simulator run on its own? I have let some of my city's run for days I had no idea that the trees and other plants grew with time very cool

Most of the time I play for an hour or two at the most.  I find I get tired after that, generally.  The long session that started this thread was very unusual for me.  Here is a list of my Regions folder:

    SimCity 4/Regions
    ├── Downloads
    ├── Elutherera
    ├── Erehwon
    ├── Goshwhataplace
    ├── Marsmadimvallis
    ├── NewYorkCity
    ├── Passepartout
    ├── sandbox
    ├── South West County
    ├── Tamriel
    ├── Terranova
    └── timbuktu

    12 directories, 0 files

Of these, we can remove the Downloads, sandbox, and timbuktu folders and we are left with 9 active, playable regions.  The NYC one is not the default but a specialty region.

I have let the game run unattended several times for hours when I am out without crashing.  I think most, if not all CTDs are caused by the loose nut holding the keyboard and mouse.  No development, steady state.  I don't count these as 'long' sessions, only attended ones.  Unattended operation with a profitable city is a good way to build a big treasury.

I agree about your theory of crash to desk top. when I just let the game run it never crashes citys sometimes burn to the ground. I very rarly have a crash my biggest complaint would be lag when building.

I think my longest would be around 3-4 hours. Could be more, you lose track of time so fast while playing video games.

Guess why my start up script for this game displays the start and end date/time?

    #!/bin/bash
    date
    env WINEPREFIX="/home/john/.wine" \
    wine "C:/Program Files (x86)/Maxis/SimCity 4 Deluxe/Apps/SimCity 4.exe" \

when i first started i easily got 13 - 17 hour days (seriously, right after my senior year in highschool). but now because of work i usually get to play only for about 4-6 hours weekly total. my off days is usually when i at least have it open in the background for about  hours (before i decide to do something else with my day).
