Will there be NAM, SC Mapper, etc for SC5 now that offline mode is out?

Finally! What kept me from buying SC5 is now removed! Also EA wants us to make mods and what is better than NAM for SC5?

I do understand the effects of this, it could slow performance and use a sizeable chunk of your map but if there is something like SC4 Mapper for SC5, we could make custom regions as well as varied map sizes to fit like Highways and such. Now I can design tolls in my city to charge travel and also make highways with slick interchanges.

If we had the option to tweak the Great Works to make airports look varied, it would be nice. And also adding our own Great Works would be great.

Hope these ideas go into consideration!

These ideas are probably taken into consideration, but it will take a lot of time and effort to realise them. Remember, SimCity 4 is eleven years old, the NAM is about nine years old (and still continuing in development) and most basic tools took a while before they saw the light of day. Furthermore, we still don't know the hard-coded limits of this game, which still puts quite some worries on the hopes that this game will ever really get better...

Woah woah woah, buddy! We barely have one-way roads and 4 kilometer extended map boundaries, and that took massive amounts of collaboration within the community! The game has almost been out for 2 years, and I think that's a major achievement, but I'm not saying what you're asking for is impossible.

Now that offline mode is out, we can really delve in to the engine and do amazing things, but some things are limited within that amazing engine, and those limits might affect how much is impossible within the game.

Just know that within 2 years, a lot more will be figured out about the game, and you might get something like SimCity 4 Mapper in the future, but I can only say that because we already have a "NAM," but it's in pieces by different authors, and everyone wants their sovereignty for mods. :)

Something to add: no one on the NAM Team has ever played with the new Simcity in the recent months except for one person, and no one on the NAM Team at all has any plans to mod the new Simcity, especially in a way that would emulate the NAM for SC4. So no, there won't be a NAM for the new Simcity, nor there would even be one by name, not because they'd be stealing our name, but that it would breed confusion over which NAM Team is which, and over whether or not the original NAM Team still has faith in the moddability of SC4, or worse, credit would be given to the wrong team, or one team would be accused of stealing the other's ideas.

Well at this point in time, I am truly happy with what the modding community has been able to accomplish already. It feels like anything can happen at this point.

As long as time and resources are available, those wonderful SC4 HD BATs might be SC2013-modded such that a closer 3D look at the buildings would be possible.
