The "Attractions" set should be available even without the City Hall Tourism upgrade.  Give small towns sumpin' to be proud of.

I'd just be happy if they'd fix the University issue with regional students in the next update.

Why won't  students from other cities visit my University after 9 updates?

Also more ways in and out of cities would be great too.

That would be a good money sink for the game- a million simoleons for another entrance.  Any city large enough to need more entry spots should be able to afford it.

In addition, regions with more totally flat city spaces.

But, wouldn't you have to hook up the extra entry/exit to the highway somehow outside of the city border?

Decent terraforming would certainly help with all of the above. The tools provided in SimCity 4 were impressive and remain so.

Although I fear EA/Maxis may use the argument that they are introducing more regions instead, but I noticed some modders have discovered that there are "hidden/debug mode" features that allow you to build roads outside city boundaries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWYIVxaTD4U

Bigger Cities would also be a help for this sort of thing (yeah yeah, I am going to keep mentioning this until it happens)

Despite it being the second most popular moan/request (after Offline Mode) it seems enlarging the ridiculous small city-sizes has been thrown out of the window.

I hope they don't expect us to pay for terraforming tools in the form of a future expansion.

Most games have a hidden debug mode that can only be accessed by the developers and hackers.

I personally enjoy the challenge of building my cities around the environments.

Since Maxis already said that bigger cities are out:

-More cities per region: I'd like to fill up a region with 30+ cities

-Cities nearer each other; clusters should be easily identified as such.

-Things that can be added to the empty space to make the region feel more "complete".

-More lot sizes; if there is not space for parking I'd like to see medium/high density buildings that grow without it and simply cover the lot.

-Reasons to produce resources. There is not enough in the game to drive demand for final stage resources like computers, TVs, and fuel.

I'm assuming that the education fix is for your schools to finally get regional students, I definitely want more great works.  I also voted for the more than 4 intersection thing, but I only ran into that problem once the entire time I've been playing.  I want to be able to plop hotels (outside casinos) but in the last tourism city I did I had all hotels except for the commercial in the middle of my residential (so it turned out good).

If I could I'd vote 2 or more times for one-way roads.  I really really want one way roads and I don't care if it's in a mod or a patch either.  I didn't have too bad traffic in my last tourism city cause I used overpasses so that the avenues the tourists would use only turned right (and I didn't use CoT tech either since I didn't have room and no one else had the expansion), but I seen where I could use one way roads in more than one place to get more tourists in the city and through the city.  (I had 130k people living there with one of each casino and all were profitable.)

Maybe have the option to choose which side of the road because I normally drive on the right side of the road (so SimCity roads are normal to me).  I assume you'd have to choose at the region level so that every city and road would line up with each other.

You know, that IS amazing they never considered this, since they claim they can't give us larger city tiles...

Single player mode with CPU control, meaning you can change their difficulty and you can add them at your whim...

No need to use full bold type.

Well, the cars vanish once they get far enough away from your town, so I'm guessing this could just be a visual element that a person could choose for their computer.

I voted for a couple of things, especially more great works and more city entrances, but I also voted for "other" and have something for that.  I posted the idea earlier in the mod suggestion forum but I'd like to see if I can get enough positive feedback for it that I can get a petition going.  Tell me what you guys think.    Personally, I'd like to see an expanded global market and more realism in regards to use of space outside of cities.  Here's my ideas for that:

-The addition of farms.  Now, the farms would start out in a city's territory, but would have to be removed to make room for the city itself.  They would serve the purpose of providing food for the city that they surround.  Each city would have a territory surrounding its actual boundaries that would have farms within it (and these territories would border one another); there would be a small number of roads and maybe one or two rail lines that would connect the farms to the city (and I think it would be fair to let the player decide where those connections happen).  The farms would also have an economic purpose:

  • The farms would produce more food in return for more industrial machinery sold to them.  Meaning if you produced enough industrial machinery you could have a surplus of food to sell.
  • This means that food is on the global market.

-As for industrial machinery, that could be a city specialization like mining or electronics as well.  You could have a factory for heavy machinery that could produces industrial equipment.

  • This means that heavy machinery is on the global market as well.
  • Additionally, the factory's existence would cheapen the construction and monthly cost of infrastructure and buildings, and encourage industrial development.
  • Industrial machinery would be made from metals/alloys and electronics, or something along those lines

-Now I recognize that it wouldn't make sense for skyscrapers to be bordering farms, so I think that once a city passes a certain population threshold, then some of the farms closest to the cities start turning into larger houses.  In other words, this means that suburbs develop.

  • The suburbs would likely radiate out to half the extent of farms.
  • Suburbs would consist exclusively of low-density housing.  Wealth of the residents there would correlate to the city's wealth but wouldn't go below middle class.
  • Often times the city's wealthier citizens might transfer to the suburbs, similar to real-life suburbanization; the suburbs would, by default, have a decently high desirability factor to draw citizens out.
  • The suburbs would basically be an extension of the city's residential zoning; it would certainly benefit the city by providing extra room for residents, but would also lead to greater congestion and traffic problems, as well as a "brain drain" of sorts-the further out residents of the burbs may want to work in a nearby city, and would bring their talents there instead.
  • If you wanted to combat suburban development you would have to improve desirability substantially within your city and improve density everywhere.  But eventually suburbanization to some degree would be unavoidable.

I have a couple other ideas on density and open space within the cities themselves, but I'd like to see these implemented first if possible.  I feel like this wouldn't take too much extra programming and leave the overall character of this Simcity unaltered while at the same time enhancing overall gameplay.

Connect the city tiles together and spruce up the graphics for the cities outside of the city tile you are focused on.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

-Proper RCI simulation

-Traffic Simulation Enhancements and Fixes (i.e. adding one-way roads, more than one in/one out of the city and different transport methods)

-Bigger Tiles (self-explanatory)

Okay, seriously. This is supposed to be a simulation game, not a virtual mayor-ing game. The difference would be either the game use manipulations of numbers or simply run every possible objects and individuals in each destined in course. Simcity franchise has been known to follow to former method, while the new Simcity decided to follow the latter. I'm not even slightly suggesting there is a fundamental flaw in its method. If there was a flaw, it's due to fact that EA did not put enough number of objects, meaning different patterns of life and individuality in each and every virtual citizen. I must say, latter method is usually not used in any kind of simulations, due to the fact it's always impossible to know "why" when it comes to it. How would we know why Mr. Doe is driving today, not yesterday? What about Mr. Doe 2? One could be going off to vacation, funeral, annual medical checkup, it could be anything. What mayor needs to know and can know is probably that there are certain number, an average, of traffic depending on the location and the time of the year. RCI had done it so far, not in this game. Just no.

Traffic goes about the same. There are cities with different solutions to their own traffic problems. It could actually be anything, from one-way roads to monorails. The purpose of it always the same: to resolve the traffic issues in the city. When it comes to the game, it should be focused only on two areas, first how to make it simulatively (not a real word) realistic, and second how to give more controls to dear mayors. Second is quite simple: add more options. We can't even add highway entrances in the game. What could we possibly expect?

About a half year back, I replied to one of the posts suggesting that ground pollutions and radiation removers will be added as a DLC, which did happen in the form of expansion.  Yeah, and it really happened. I don't know what else to say, except for EA seems to think expansion is a way to complete a game, instead of adding to a game.

How about a full-on do-over?  Let's just forget 2013 even happened and try again for 2014.

That's like the only plausible way of saving grace, imo.

Just have got 1 simple thing I want and that is for the region play to work better. So getting annoyed I have to build the same thing over and over again in each city because the things are just not connecting at all. Like when I build a city with only residents and with only industry, you will always get crap of joblessness and no workers, each time. And which such small maps it's quite essential that we should be able to split our RCI apart instead of all placing it in 1 map each time. I need this to actually get further, because now I am just fully out of ideas. That's all I want right now.

I wouldn't mind having bus riders and garbage/recycling figures fixed.

Resident riders; How many are using the bus, 91K or 18K?

Bus_Riders.png

Garbage & Recycling; 2K cans of garbage and trucks pick up 6K (now, that's efficient). 241K recycling bins - I believe that can't be picked up, simply not enough trucks. Happens sometime after 200K population.

I would love to have the densities added back in the game. I think the game is really fun at the beginning stages, when you have trailers/houses and everything is slow. This is when the game actually shines. Just the option to have low, medium, or high density would be a simple, yet effective addition.

One way roads all the way. Does this include turn lanes? i.e. a one way road does not make an intersection with an avenue.

Other: Roundabouts without traffic lights.
