I wish they'd just abandon it and update simcity4

But since that's not going to happen:

Just put the small city maps close together, you start in the centre one and continuously claim "suburbs" giving the illusion of one big city with independently managed suburbs.  Really not a big change.  Allow some terraforming like raise/lower land since quite a few of the maps are totally unrealistic.  Allow us to modify the transport connections at a regional level since the way it is now we have no subway and there's nothing we can seriously do with rail as it is.  Cycling lanes?

Services should be attached to the city but they could be the unique buildings which can be built outwith the boundaries (between suburbs) with no space restrictions and shared.

These seem like such simple changes to me, so when do I start my job at Maxis?

I would love to have the densities added back in the game. I think the game is really fun at the beginning stages, when you have trailers/houses and everything is slow. This is when the game actually shines. Just the option to have low, medium, or high density would be a simple, yet effective addition.

+1 on this statement.  A simple tool for varying the density can add so much uniqueness in the game and give cities more of a realistic look, versus having an entire street suddenly upgraded with a row of tall buildings sprouting.

I think that height restriction zoning would be more fun than density zoning. I would also like to see functional offices that could grow in mixed commercial or dedicated office zones as well as urban malls (2-8 stories tall) that can grow in either mixed commercial or dedicated retail zones. Hotels would still grow in mixed commercial zones.

I am also glad to see offline mode and modding.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Yes, I like this last part about the mayors. There should be some sort of limit to how long some mayor should have a city, like two to six months...

RCI indicators are difficult to see with colors so close together.  I'm what they say as color blind but I can see colors in any case a little more contrast between the colors of demand or no demand indicators.  what ever colors the are,  just kidding. many people are considered color blind by that test with the # in the circle they give.

You do know that they have special filters for those with varous varieties of color-blindness, right?
