What kind of programs do you use to create the transit maps and how do you post it on this website?

More Second Life, with this time the map of the Heterocera mainlines ;)

Doesn't show the ONSR network to the frozen south, nor the Bay City or Bembecia systems! Bay City itself is to the west of Mocha, but there is a 2 kilometer gap between the networks, and no one wants to give up land for the right of way.

This new transit map is kinda like a hybrid between Toronto(The black background) and Washington's(The line and station style) transit maps. It depicts a new metro system connecting a beach city to it's surronding communities.

Over the years of Paradise having a cj, I've drawn a lot of maps, trying to plan the capital. Recently I decided to see what these routes would look all together, so I made this. The black dotted lines are tile boundaries, for an idea of the scale of the plans.

Lenin'sk has over 175'000 inhabitants in her core (the big peninsula you can see in the middle full of subway lines), that goes up to 270'000 within the municipality territory, finally going over the half million counting all of the Suburbia (still under construction).

The Metro system was built around the first line, the Red one, going from the V. I. Lenin Intl. Airport to the suburb of West Lenin'sk, often considered truly a continuation of the city, passing throught two major railway stations (Gorbaciov's and Central), to the Lenin'sk residential area, touching commerce, then stopping to the Samotsvety, heading west for the Downtown, then for West Center, Tovaj and finally, like said before, West Lenin'sk (not shown in the map).

I apologize for the "commie taste" of the Metro system, but that's the way Lenin'sk grew up!

Nice maps Nathan, although with the PIRail map I would picture the express lines next to each other and remove them from the station 'boxes' where trains are not stopping. 18.gif

Thanks for the advise. i might make another version of the map soon, so i will take that into account.

Not bad, I like the different style but the yellow line is hard to see. May I suggest two circle lines, one roughly following the green (link between Volga Towers and Lenin'sk Stadium) and another roughly following the brown and yellow (link through Lenin'sk Industrial). Good work though! :D

Well paint is what i got :D. I am thinking about if to make a few lines circles, like you suggested, and perhaps expanding the Metro with the growth of the suburbia. Making a few rounds would require few minor changes and construction of some underground. Actually the Lenin'sk City Council is going to discuss this, when the mayor is not busy in one of his crazy part... ehm i mean visits and hard works!

I don't know DAB_City, i see the yellow line pretty good on my desktop. I have some problems reading station names somtimes because they sometimes had to be over the lines but aside that i can see all colors pretty well. However yes, the yellow is slightly harder to see, because of the color and the terrain color. However it will take time before another version :P, suburbia has to grow.

Here's my work-in-progress subway map.

hurricane%20transit%20map%20copy.png

I'm going to crop it once I'm done and maybe organize it with some overlapping or express lines. Not sure yet. I'm planning to use circles or squares for stations (white centers for transfer stations). I have the names mapped out on paper, but wanted to get some advice before going ahead with that. How do you do those nice 45 degree curves?

(the 9 squares on the map represent administrative divisions in-universe, or large city tiles in the game.)

Nothing special here but i have some time to waste (apparently) and i am creative. This is the F2 Freeway entry/exit at Ashlyut Center, a grown suburb located northwest of Lenin'sk.

ashlyutinterchange.png

Legend:

Red line: The F2 Freeway.

Black lines: Roads.

Yellow lines: One way road ramp.

Here's the original, just to have a better idea of the thing.

To celebrate reaching 2000 streets named on my map of Witanceaster, lets play...

2000t.png

I have five streets I'm going to allow you guys to name. They are small side streets in the suburb of Exening, just in behind the hustle and bustle of Exening High Street.

2000m.png

Open-air markets dominate pedestrian-only streets #2000 and #2003, while the others are mainly residential, with an unnamed church (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) on Enggate between #2001 and #2002.

2000qp.png

2000ad.png

The only limitations are that'd I'd like the names to be vaguely in character (ie. English, the older the better). Other than that, be creative! Make as many suggestions as you like - if they're good I'll keep them for later use. :)

NB: If you can't think of anything, liquid inspiration can be found at the Tirech Arms, the fine establishment on Frederick Street at the end of Tirech Arms Road ;)

NBB: Post #600 here too!
