    Good news everyone,
Equinox and I figured out why the nitlites wouldnt render.  I fixed the problem last night and sent it over to him.  He said, that with any luck and if the BAT doesnt mess up, it can be done by Christmas.

no problem.  I understand, it certainly is a hard model to do anything to.

    Hey,

Hmm ... so close!  Well kd, last night I put off Foster's boat and rendered out the two components and we now have this ... I am left with two main thoughts: one, in closer zooms the point of intersection between the base segment and the upper segment appears ... weird.  They sort of blend together, diagonal lines of each one ... it's really weird, but I either need to raise the prop (which I have already tried - guess I could just do it more) or re-render, which I think I might want to do anyhow, because (one) I think the base has too many nightlights compared to the top, (two) I think I should try a different, more generic nightmap, and possibly (three), because I want to do the whole thing in one piece.  Talk to me on MSN if you'd like a night shot when I sign on tomorrow after the S.S. Foster is done rendering.  Also, I think you should add back the other segment to the tower.  All and all, it will be most likely a colossal render for me, but I will give it the best I can starting tomorrow night and will do all I can to have it done by Christmas day some time.

I'd love to have this be out on Christmas, but I am not going to let kd upload something I don't think is perfect, or very close to it, because so much time has gone into this project.  So yeah, kd, if you could have the updated model ready for me when I get online tomorrow, that'd be great...you can email it to me at equinox.nls@gmail.com if you'd like me to get started right away.  Don't think anything NDEX will manage to get released tomorrow, haha, with the schedule I've got running now on rendering.

So, wish me luck ... I'll check in tomorrow from my family computer downstairs ... haha, it's a POS.  2.gif  Sorry if anything's not clear ... it's 4:45 AM now ... probably about time to hit the sack and fire up that render.

EDIT: of course, there is one more option ... to release this version, with the prop elevated a bit to overcome the problem ... and simply update the file later.  Perhaps that's a better idea.  Either way ... Merry Christmas in advance, everybody!

MayorTim ... you'll notice one of the things that I requested kd5rax do was to add another segment (making it taller).  I probably did a bad job of explaining that.  That is part of the reason for a re-rendering.

This is perfect in shape and in the color. The original has however eight parts between top and base.

Not four like on the photo. 42.gif

Equinox, for the middle section props, are you raising them in the LE or in the BAT? I highly suggest in the BAT so that the props are pre-evelated. You know what happens to LE elevated props and terrain change in the game, don't ya? 14.gif

    ALTX: both.
It was pre-elevated to the proper height but still had issues, even with custom LODs.
I guess kd5rax doesn't want to make it any taller, so it will stay like it is ...
It will simply have nice nightlighting, balanced, and will be all one render.

The moment the render finishes tomorrow, I will begin modding it and will do everything within my power to have it uploadable on Xmas Day.  (if I get the updated file from kd5rax, of course).

Stay the same? Are you saying the tower will still only have 4 centerpiece sections???? (Excuse me, but I for some odd reason, always try to find the bad things in life so I can fix them 12.gif)

Okay, I guess what I meant to say is something like this ... kd5rax wants to leave it the way it is, I think.  I'd like to add another segment at least to it, but my PC might have troubles (as in not even allowing me to start) rendering too much at once.  This is a serious workout already.

Here's a suggestion from me: Why don't you render it in three parts: the base, middle segment, and top, so that way if we want eight middle segments we can go into the LE and change it ourselves?  Good idea, bad idea, dumb idea?

well, i just finished the growable version
It is only 6 segments tall (not counting the top) and all in one peice
I have been considering that very idea for a while TEOM, but for the final version with the mall.  I right now, the main project is divided into three peices, i think it has worked so far, but splitting into 8 peices might allow for a different, better kind of nightlights...

Here's a suggestion EQ. Ask Vlakhaas of the BSC to render it. After all he did do the Petronas...150 hours. I'm sure this would be a small project from what I've seen him rendering in the past.

I also agree that it doesn't look tall enough to be the real thing, try puting Sears and WTC on either side, it should be just taller than those two.

But I have to say, that as it is, it also looks like a great addition to the game, whether it is true to the real thing or just a representation of it. It's beautiful. I only hope that you ignored the real lighting this building has, because it is quite horrendous, and added a touch of your creative imagination towards the lighting.

keep on mind, that wasnt the full thing, just a growable form.  It would be crazy for the worlds tallest building to just pop up at random, so this is shorter.  The final version, which should be hitting the fast track to completion soon, will be full height, along with the mall/base in all its splendor.  A note on the lighting, due to the size and detail of the building, the nitelites are relatively simple.  With this particular building I made normal lighting with a hint of inspiration from the original real building.
