Hi guys. After un-installing the SC4D, I re-installed the game. Then, in order to install NAM version 31.2, i had to patch the game from 1.1.610.0 to 1.1.638.0. I download and installed the patch completely and successfully. The NAM installed still says i dont have the patch. even when i move my mouse pointer over the exe file, it still says version 1.1.610.0. I then installed the SC4update4BAT and the version is still stuck on 1.1.610.0.
Please HELP !!!

Where did you get your game?  Do you have the CDs?

That explains it. You have an illegal download of SC4.

But it's almost impossible to find a CD of SC4 here in my country.. no one plays it here.. Is there any 'legal' download available??

The price for Simcity 4 Deluxe was 9,99€ in Steam today. Should be cheap enought price for a game like this - and includes much less pointless hassle than messing around with illegal and (possibly) unstable versions of the game.

I second MandelSoft's advice: buy your version from Steam. I am hanging around their forums as Reforman.*

    * Yeah. Stupid, I know, but the name "Reform" was given to me by others and it kind of stuck. :ducky:

Thirding the whole Steam suggestion thing. Excellent service, as far as these things go, and the game is inexpensive.

Amazon.com offers a digital download version as well.

"Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address."

Just saying. Digital downloads are not available everywhere.

The Steam summer sale is most probably starting tomorrow, and the going sale price for SC4 Deluxe is usually $4.99. Of course, even Steam prices are region-dependent.

Another one to consider is GamersGate.

I'd personally try and avoid Steam or any DRM vendors, even if they're marginally cheaper. These tend to mess around with the game's installation path, which is really quite unnecessary. For example, instead of being installed in the usual "C:\Program Files\Maxis", Steam forces SimCity 4 into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\".

This can occasionally create problems with some custom content tools, such as the BAT, which only recognise the default location.

However, this is only a minor complication -- and it's really a personal choice. Of course, the game on its own will run without hassle.

This is not completely true. Steam allows for other locations, and especially for older games, a location outside of "C:\Program Files (x86)\" is vastly preferable, because of write permissions. My installation directory for SC4 is "E:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\SimCity 4 Deluxe". You choose location upon installation:

Still, your point stands that you cannot achieve the standard "Maxis" installation location.

Thanks for mentioning that. Though I doubt the alternative locations would improve the BAT compatibility issue.

I haven't had any problems withGmax or B.A.T. launching and saving with Steam version. Default save-folder might occationally be somwhere else, but I never used it anyway. Where does this statement of Steam download being incombatible with other programs come from? I am asking because I do not know and/or understand.

I also have a similar problem. It's very hard to buy CD/DVD games here in Indonesia, even popular games are rare here, it's because approximately 75% of Indonesians play pirated games. I bought SC4 Deluxe on SimCity Box from ebay (3 years ago), though, I don't know steam at that time. Btw, in what country do you live?

I don't know, but the only program I have seen specifically mentioned every time this comes up is the B.A.T., and I never tried that myself, so I don't comment one way or the other. I haven't seen any problem of the Steam version with any of the programs I checked. Most of the trouble I met was related to getting things to run on Win7 64-bit, and I guess I managed with 80% of the tools.

Until you get a properly updated legal game you won't be able to run the NAM.  It requires version 1,1,638 minimum.

So a pirated SC4 is worthless at all.

Programs are usually worth what you pay for them.

    Except SimCity 2013.

    Hey, don't forget SimCity Societies!

Yes, I've ever played SCS from SimCity Box, and I hate it. I regret buying SC Box (better if I buy SC4 Deluxe only).

Amazon.com offers a digital download version as well.

The last time I checked, Amazon downloads were available to U.S. customers only.  The Steam sale is probably your best bet.
