I just received a email for it just then and the price seems a bit steep but nonetheless it seems pretty cool, anybody going to buy it? I want to know how it is before I purchase it.

I will buy all their DLC's... first thing tomorrow when my home AI wakes me up to go to Mars to watch the launch of my personal space ship that does the Kassel Run in less than twelve parsecs.

This is a legitimate dlc, lol.

I probably won't buy it.

I don't like these pay-for DLCs... I'm not really all that interested in paying more.

However... dude... AIRSHIPS.   Tempting.

Exactly what I'm saying, $8.99 for that is steep but nonetheless I want it if and only if it can relieve traffic while also increasing the amount of tourists in my cities.

Troll? I think so. This isn't something to troll about, SimCity sent an email to me talking about Airships, Update 5.0, and the Nissan LEAF.

Come on. I wanted SimCity for realism. I am sure every city does not use AirSHIPS to alleviate congestion and bring tourism.

Where are my land expansions, subways, toll booths and highways.

While I want more realism in this game, we must remember one thing, it's a game. I want limited-access highways, booths, and all too, I wish they created a "Realism Mode" in which people like you and I get what we want. I would pay for that; no big monsters or UFO's attacking our cities, the possibility of annexing land, the need for all schools as opposed to only needing a university, and etc.

One thing that is very different about this SimCity that I wish would be implemented in this game is clicking on various residence and being able to see how many live there and how many people are capable of living there. Our cities are extremely dense, but the population of the city never matches the skyline. What do I mean by that? A city with 200k residents resembles a real life city with millions of people.

I am debating it.  I bought the Amusement Park DLC, that was a pretty big DLC with a lot of flexability, I thought it was worth the money.  This DLC though, well, it just seems very minor for the price, I want to hear feedback from people who did buy it before i jump on this one, but most likely I will wait till this one goes on sale, even if it takes a year.

I think this is good more DLC's the better I'll buy definitely. Hey its probably quicker to get across a traffic jammed city in an air blimp than by car.

Nope not now. Probably buy it in a DLC bundle in a future sale. I bought the Amusement Park DLC but that had much more content in it than this.

So, the only way to fix traffic is to pay more $$?

Yeah, I feel like the Amusement Park DLC gave a lot more 'bang for the buck' (although admittedly I didn't pay full price for that one. Got it on sale for $6).

This one seems pretty small to also be priced at $9. I won't have any trouble skipping this one and I guess this solidifies the fact that Maxis will also price the 'Worship DLC' at $9. Might be time for them to throw the players some 'feel-good' free DLC instead. The response to this one hasn't been pretty from what I have seen so far.

Pretty much, something like this should be free since they can't seem to work out the flaws in traffic. At least give the player a free option to choose from until you fix everything.

This is a bit of a joke to b honest! I know it's a game but paying $$ for one building is silly! Think it's about 6£ for me in uk! I bought the amusement park dlc but think this is a step too far and they really should concentrate on winning people back to the game with improved gameplay and not money making rubbish! I'm not bashing the game as I love the concept but as i said already my patience is running thin! I didn't ger into sc4 but I did love sc3000, they got that right lol!

    Thank you

How pathetic. Airships? Really, is that the best idea they came up with. This whole game has turned into a joke. Thank god the majority of people realise this is a rip off. I wonder if there is anything in the coding which says if airship present traffic chaos disappears. Hymmmm a convenient way to get people to pay for crap. Maxis you have killed the game. Mods please save it.

The thing is I can't even find any YouTube videos on it, and it seems as if only a handful of people at the max have purchased it so far on simtropolis. Maybe the lack of purchases will promote them to make it free.

I will probably wait to get this one. I anticipated the Amusement pack and use it often. Hopefully they will package this with a future dlc later down the road.

Simcopops - yes airships are in the base code (0x0ecf4f77" : "Transport Air Ship Blimp Hangar [PT]) I don't know the effect, but being the sole traffic solution would be an unsurprisingly deeply cynical ploy.

No more of my cash goes to maxis/EA for any game whatsoever until this game reaches an "acceptable for release" point. It's still in late alpha at the moment. I didn't buy the Amusement Park, and I won't buy this. Fool me once and all that.

Once I can actually do to the cities what Maxis described ages ago (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/simcityedu something that allows students to think about the real problems facing cities. Such as conga lines of garbage trucks, frequent meteor strikes, and an educational policy that allows just for university education), then I will consider this.

But, I won't derail the thread. I'll just leave this link here in case any EA/Maxis exec passes by - https://www.simtropolis.com/news/_/general-gaming-news/ea-wants-to-stop-being-hated-r532

Meanwhile we can look forward to the other DLC hidden in the code - places of worship, army bases, red cross centres, strip mines etc

In short - fix the darn game before trying to sell me something else.

Does anybody know where to find a promo code to make this less of a rip-off?

I have bought it. Having issues with the purchase though so don't know what it is like yet. Why did I buy it? Cause it is a an Airship! As for the price? It is less than what I sometimes pay for a meal that I only get one use out of. The game works, it is playable, it is fun, but it isn't without its flaws we all know that. Why people continue to gripe is beyond me.

It is starting to feel like they have deliberately released a broken game and are selling little bits and pieces to bring it up to scratch. I won't be buying this one in a hurry.

I would buy a NAM style DLC if anyone from Maxis/EA is reading this. Just a thought.

My apologies, I scoured the web for info about this airship DLC but found nothing, and therefore assumed a troll. Assume = makes an ASS out of U and ME. It was released one hour later. :P

To answer your question, yes I will be buying it eventually. But I can't spare any money for a game right now... *sigh*

Everyone here is hilarious. First world problems indeed.

Just because people are all whiny about this, I will purchase it tonight.

Lol, I didn't think of it like this but I guess this is First World problems. Haha complaining about a game that we all spent too much on, and wanting more free DLC.

I'm kind of mad at EA though considering they dropped the price for the Deluxe Edition to $59.99, we should gain a $20 credit for this. The game that I downloaded to my computer for free doesnt even work (Battlefield 3), so I think I should get something else for that.

So I bought it.  It's not working the way it's described.  I have a few 300+ pop cities and this is what's been happening:

(Notice how the ferry terminal is transferring soooo many more residents than the airship.  Keep in mind this city has a bad layout in regards to the entrance/exit.  The other city next door has almost 200k more pop and has zero traffic problems, but alas I was still hoping the airship would help.  It's not.  At all.)  If I've done something wrong here let me know, but mainly I guess if you want tourists, awesome.  If you think this is going to fix the traffic problem, think again.  *Edit - The only conclusion I can come up with is that the airship fails because it doesn't include low income riders.  So unless you're going for a med/high well low pop city with neighboring cities doing the same, the airship is not worth the money.
