  1. Is there anyone out there like me that used to play this game a lot, but hasn't played in a long time because certain things are unacceptable? I haven't played this game since update 5, and I probably wont again until a certain number of things have been fixed. There are several minor things that irk me about the game but two real big ones. The first big thing that would make me want to play this again would be if they put city tiles next to each other like Sim City 4. If they're not going to give us bigger maps, at least make the illusion we have bigger cities in region view by placing the cities right next to each other. Secondly, terraforming. Due to cities being so spread out, I don't want the wasted space of a cliff in the middle of my city, or a giant mountain in the worst possible place. Leave those outside my city or let me terraform it to my liking. The other minor stuff like, multiple entrances, subways, etc, do bother me, but I suppose I could live without them if they fixed the above. Sorry for the rant, but I check this forum periodically because I really do WANT to play, but cant seem to get around certain things that irk me from a gameplay standpoint. Also, as an aside, if they want me to buy expansion packs, they should stop releasing them constantly and demanding money. Release them in bundles semi-annually, and I would consider them. I understand that every Sim City was "broken" upon release, but at least they did not nickel and dime us with several expansion packs being released all the time. Stop releasing so many individual expansion packs to recoup your money lost from a failed launch, and release them together in a bundle.
  2. Just a couple of quick questions regarding ire services: 1. I haven't had a hazmat fire in months, even with high density industrial. I know they tweaked the system, but did they completely turn that off? I don't even place the hazmat garages anymore. Wasn't sure if I missed something regarding that. 2. In some cities I have massive traffic backups that cause fire truck delays, especially near city entrances. So I placed some fire helicopters to help the situation out, as I know they used to work properly. However I never see the fire helicopters being used and my city still burns. Is this a game issue or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!
  3. I started a new region because I was bored with my old one, as I usually do about once a month. However in my new region no matter what city I use I run into trouble when i switch to processor factories. No matter how many times i demolish an rebuild my processor factories will not deliever processors to my trade depot. I have demolished both the garages and the building itself. The trade depot is right next to the factories and there is no traffic. I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening but it's annoying! Has anyone else had this issue lately?
  4. It takes a few days of in game time. Keep playing and it will work eventually.
  5. The game is meant to be played however you would like it to be played. That's the one good thing about this game. There is no right/wrong way to do things provided they work. Build your cities and experiment with the specializations and playing methods until you find what works for you.
  6. I think the cost outweighs the benefits.
  7. Power runs in random paths at intersections. The less intersections you have the more likely it is that you get power where you need it.
  8. Update 5.0 discussion

Simoleon gifts don't seem to be working either.
  9. underwater road and houses

I hope they opted for flood insurance.
  10. Sale on Origin?

So basically I paid more money for a game that was functionally unplayable for the first month, and all I got for it was to pick a free game from a group of EA games I would never play on a PC in the first place? Then to top it off they update the game again a couple months later and reintroduce problems that they already patched (unexplained traffic, etc) creating similar havoc to the launch problems? EA either has the best or the worst marketing team in all of business depending on how you look at it. I guess P.T. Barnum was right, a sucker is born every minute.
  11. Update 5.0 discussion

This patch has caused seemingly huge delays in trade via rail/sea as well as strange influxes in traffic in my cities.
  12. 50k bond costs 67,280?

I've had this happen several times. I think it has to do with this: say you have 5k in your treasury but are running a -10k deficit. The day ends and your treasury goes to $0 and tells you to get a bond to continue so you take out a $50k bond. You still owe the -5k deficit so it adds it on to your bond owed instead of taking it off the bond you just got.
  13. Trade port works fine for me.trade trucks disappearing in the region usually drop stuff off (disappear from the map) and sometimes takes a few minutes before they re-appear.... click the specialization shield at lower left and just click the trading icon and watch the trucks. They always come back in a few minutes. Typically when they take longer, it means they are stuck in traffic. The train I have found only appears if you have another nearby city ALSO with the train cargo station. Otherwise no, cargo train never comes. It also only picks up specific materials from what I have seen, that being metal, alloy, oil and fuel (also found the cargo ship is the same way, only picks up specific cargo). Everything else if you have it set to export goes out by truck. I don't have any issues with train depots even if I have only one city in the region. If you open the trading screen in specialties and mouse over where it says "Via" in the bottom right it will tell you how many rail trains you get per day. Even if you have a rail depot you will still import/export via trucks. I bet if you watched your train depot for an entire sim day you would see the trains.
  14. Why no Semi's?

Much lower priority than that. I bet SC devs fix this first though. Easier to do.
  15. This may have been mentioned before, but does anyone know if there is a floor and ceiling to the global market prices? Right now in one of my regions the price of coal is about 3k and ore is 6k. That makes it hard to upgrade the HQ when it's selling so cheap.
