I once opened the box for my new laptop only to see the screen cracked all the way across and whatever gunk that is all blotched up all over the place.  They replaced it.  I hope you can get yours replaced.  A dead pixel would drive me absolutely nuts.

Never had dead pixels (or didn't notice them), but my previous Mac had a tiny spot where the screen was much brighter. Drove me nuts for a short while The screen of my new Mac seems better. Well, it also has more pizels (2880x1800 for 15 inch) so I doubt I'll ever notice one dead pixel.

Towards the left edge. And not particularly noticeable since it seems to display white and near-white colors just fine. So here, browsing the internet, I can't see that I have a bad pixel at all. But against a dark background, the one pixel just shows as green. I'm guessing the problem is the green channel on that pixel is unable to turn off.

 

As for getting it replaced, hell no, not bothering. If one bad pixel is all that's wrong with this computer than as far as I'm concerned I'm in good shape. If I send it in I feel like I am more likely to make the situation worse than better right now. Besides, I know sending it in means they're going to wipe the hard drive, so I'd have to start the process of transferring my files over from scratch. And deal without having this computer for a couple weeks. Not worth it.

I am so done with new games.  My wife got me Gran Turismo 6 two weeks ago, so I go to plug it in to play it, only to be informed that I have 12 updates totaling something like a billion gajillion gigs and it took literally three days (including having to redownload everything because there were too many updates to install at once) to get the stupid game started.  This is the new state of gaming, and it sucks, and I'm out.  At least I haven't been hit up for any DLC yet.

Gran Turismo 6 is for PS3, but the development team has a lot of positive things to say about the possibilities involved in making GT7 for the PS4.  I suppose you could wait for that if you felt so inclined.  I have no idea when it's supposed to be out though.

Bummer, man. I just hope that won't happen tomorrow. I have a bag of mashed insects, sugar and starch saved away for tomorrow morning. Imagine coming to school to watch a movie in the first class and only finding five gelatine candies! What a dilemma. Not knowing whether to cry, because you were bummed on your candies, or laugh, because you get to skip an entire class just to watch a movie.

As best I can tell the only way to get a computer without preinstalled crap is to either build your own or find one from some smalltime company using rebranded hardware. Every major OEM ships machines with loads of crapware because it's just how they do business. Generally speaking one does at least have the option to uninstall the crapware, at least on a PC. For a smartphone, you have to root it in order to uninstall preloaded apps.

I was driving home from picking up my younger sister from school yesterday, and while stopped at a red light - I noticed a heavily modded car in the left turn lane next to me, although I never looked at it or the driver directly. My windows were down and I was blasting my CD of the Beastie Boys album Licensed To Ill, and I could hear the driver of the ricer car next to me asking me "You wanna race?" and trying to get my attention. My car is a little 2011 Mazda2, a great car but not incredibly powerful nor meant for racing by any means. I continued to look straight forward (I was wearing sunglasses), pretending that I couldn't hear him. Eventually his light turned green, and just before he sped off, I distinctly heard him swear at me, presumably for ignoring him. I didn't react, and drove home normally.

So, that happened.

I once drove my friend's '77 Corvette to a Taco Bell and behind us an old Camaro from the 80s pulled up.  We revved  our engines at each other, and then got our food and pulled out onto the road.  We ended up side-by-side at a red light, grinning and revving at each other.  The light turned green and... he tore off down the road while I calmly completely my right turn to head back up to our home in the 'burbs.  My girlfriend asked me why I didn't race him and I was like a) it's not my Corvette, and b) I've seen the ending of Back to the Future III.  I don't need Flea from RHCP hounding me for no reason.  I'd eventually like to have an extremely cool, fast car of my own to tease wannabe racers in some day.

Last time I posted here, I changed topic radically to rant.  Please allow me to do the same.  

 

So Philly's primary radio station switched to Christmas music today, which I'm fine with, but an ad grinded my gears.  It was for Lord And Taylor, which did the most despicable thing and aired their "Thanksgetting" sale!  That's incredibly poor taste.  They've commercialized Christmas to the brim, and now they're making the day of giving thanks a corporate opportunity?!  Disgusting!
