Ah, food delivery to your door. Not something I usually do... not something I usually have particular cause to do, given the ready availability of places withing short walking distance of where I live and of where I work.

 

I would much rather pick food up myself so that 1) I can make sure they got my order right before I walk away, and have them fix it then and there if they didn't, and 2) so I don't have to spend extra money tipping a delivery guy.

Grocery delivery is a practice I have heard of but It's not all that common around where I live. I'm ok with having a pie or a hoagie delivered but I prefer to select my own produce.

 

Just the four of us on this page so far. Where are all the Australians?

I see no reason why I should pay extra to have my groceries delivered.

 

Especially since I see it as less convenient than going shopping myself. Stores don't keep live down to the second records of what they do or don't have in stock, so you can get unpleasant surprises that "sorry, turns out we're out of that", and then you have to go out shopping anyway to obtain the missing item. If they are out of one brand of something, sometimes they may think that substituting another brand of the same thing is fine - but I disagree. I have specific brands of everything that I like and I don't accept substitutes just because one store happens to be out of something. I've been known to leave the store with my shopping incomplete because, say, maybe they had potato chips but not Utz ripples. Rather than buy some other type or some other brand, I will go to other stores until I find my Utz ripples, damn it.
