Finally confirmed that my neighbor across the street has a pair of pet scarlet macaws.  That explains all the freakish shrieking and screaming from my neighbor's house...macaws are huge parrots, can mimic human sounds, and their loud calls are meant to be heard over miles.  There have been times I thought to call the police or child protective services because the screams had me thinking my neighbors had a mentally disabled adolescent strapped to a chair in their basement and who they tortured with whips and cigarettes burns:

I spotted a cat today that looked similar to one that someone around here lost a few weeks ago. Alas, when I compared it to the photo on my phone, it was not the same cat.

Anyway, anyone ever think of stray cats not in the sense of poor things that need food and help but rather that they have their freedom and can go where they want, kinda like "good for you little cat bro, you go do what you want."

I see cats running around outside all the time. It's possible some of them are strays but there are definitely also plenty of people in the neighborhood who have a cat and let it run around outside.

Cats that are adapted to living the feral life can be quite adept at feeding and fending for themselves. Meanwhile they aren't a threat to humans nor are they known to wreck gardens or mess other human creations up. So I can't complain about them.

If anything I appreciate being able to be like "awww, cute kitty!" whenever I see one.

Facebook apparently has a new thing where now if you log in during a game you get a prompt that your favorite team is playing and a button you can click to "tell your friends that you're watching". If they win, you get nagged to "tell your friends that you're celebrating".

I have no interest in posting any such banal crap on Facebook, and I lack TV in my apartment so I am not watching any of these games anyway. Fortunately, Element Hiding Helper allows me to nuke that stuff so I don't have to look at it.

 

Of course, I'm that weirdo that goes to a baseball game and sits there watching intently with a largely blank face, analyzing everything that's going on but never cheering or booing. I'm not particularly emotionally invested in the outcome of most games I attend, I'm just curious to see what happens and how.
