Easy Question;

I have the RHW-6C_Steel_Barriers_Mod,it has worked before, only just remembered I had it, tried it but failed...

Do you now if this mod still works with 31.1,.... please so yes....

If not could you do something with those dam ugly and dated concrete barriers on the highways,

I don't no if you guy's use them else were in the world, but here in Australia almost all the highways have been updated to steal cable or

compressive steal barriers (much like the ones they use on the NASCAR tracks to absorb high speed impacts), you hardly see concrete any more.

This MOD was one of my favorites

First off, posting that just once in one of the threads would suffice.  We are pretty good about checking all of them.

As far as that barrier mod, any RHW cosmetic mod made before NAM 31 will not work properly with the NAM 31 and later RHW systems.  The Instance ID (IID) allocations for the RHW were completely changed to shore up the code base, and the Type21 exemplars in that mod (Type21 exemplars--often called T21s--are files that attach sets of props to network pieces) reference pieces that have been moved elsewhere.  The incompatibility with old cosmetic mods with the updated RHW was announced back in October 2011 (over a year in advance of NAM 31), when we began work on the IID reallocation.  The mod would have to be updated to take the new IIDs into account, and because the RHW by default includes barriers on the diagonals now, it'd likely need to be updated to handle that functionality as well.

Now, with respect to the concrete, that's still the norm here in the US.  It's probably going to remain the default.  (Most NASCAR tracks are also getting rid of steel compressive barriers and have gone to SAFER Barriers in the past several years.)

Since Project 57 was a complete realignment of all of RHW's IIDs, I highly doubt that it will work.

Edit: Tarkus beat me to it.

Everytime I try to install NAM 31.1, it never gets completed because the installer kept throwing Math.dll errors. This happens when the installer is "Unpaking Data" at around 54%.

It looks like you have a file of that name already in your temp directory.  Either it has read-only permissions, or more likely, there's a copy of the installer hanging around that never exited that's holding onto that file.  Either way, you need to delete that file, and then everything should be fine.

It still doesn't work! However, I suspect that the NAM needs at least 800 MB of space in the hard drive for it to work. I'm not sure if this is normal.

All of the NAM components that I have, including the Traffic Sim Config Tool, only take up 400 MB.  But in any case, if you have less than a gigabyte of space on your hard drive, you need to do some serious cleaning.  Or get a larger hard drive.

EDIT:  I forgot to account for the documentation.  Yeah, you're looking at at least 700 megabytes.

The documentation takes up only 34 MB.  But if you include the download file, you do get up to about 700 MB,  So it sounds like the installation is failing due to running out of disk space.

Sounds like a disk cleanup and a defrag run are in order.  If your disk is clean, then you need a bigger one.

^^ Noted and solved: https://github.com/BluelightningSC4/Network-Addon-Mod/issues/143

EDIT: Issue #142 about mis-aligning FARHW-4 curves is also solved: https://github.com/BluelightningSC4/Network-Addon-Mod/issues/142

I just installed the new NAM version and there are no custom interchanges for the maxis highways, the menu button is there but nothing shows up when i try to place them not even a preview of the interchanges.

Deltacity, check if you have this file installed in your main NAM folder: NetworkAddonMod_HighwayInterchanges.dat

Most likely it will be missing, in which case you'll have to rerun the installer and make sure you select the maxis interchanges in the options.

The dat file is there in the folder.

Actually it's a known bug that the custom interchanges don't work.  They've taken care of it for the next release.

thanks I thought it might've been a bug.

My bad, I guess I haven't placed any interchange piece for quite some time...

Unfortunately for me, 31.1 seems to be only marginally more stable than 31.0. I can go maybe 20 minutes before a CTD, if it hasn't already CTD'd while saving, or going into or out of data views. I know a lot of work went into improving the controllers for i7's, but it hasn't had much of an effect on my machine. :(

My only other gripe is that the rail viaducts aren't displaying properly. I have the red brick viaducts installed, but the single straight viaduct piece (including over blank and over all network types) instead ends up looking like the old, EL-style viaducts. Curves, diagonals, and on-slopes appear correctly as red-brick. No picture because of the above, sorry.

Have you installed the 4GB patch?  This generally gets rid of all newly-occurring crashes and freezes, and it may even fix your rail viaduct problem.  (I gather from your post that you have a 64-bit CPU.)

Missing paths

I think the LHD preview model is flipped. Still works like this though

Cannot drag into this lot for some reason.

Is this the lot's problem or the NAM's?

I seem to have this odd texture issue since NAM 31. I recently redrew part of this RHW.

As you can see, at the top of the picture the markings on the road look more natural and realistic, at the bottom they are all bright and look weird when zoomed out.

I'll be back one day.

No I hadn't.

The patch didn't fix the viaduct issue, and it played nice for a while before crashing, so the jury's still out on that issue.

Are you saying that it still occasionally crashes even with the patch?  If so, did you have crashing problems before NAM 31?

The rail viaduct issue sounds a lot like you have a problem with parts (or all) of an old NAM installation lying around.  Please check that out.  That could also be responsible for any remaining crashes.

Well it crashed yesterday. Just now its been running fine though. NAM30 ran faultlessly - that was probably the most stable SC4 has ever been for me.

There are no residual NAM files that I'm aware of. Because of the issues I had with the 31.0 controller I made sure I removed all old NAM components (clean install) and anything else that might have conflicted with it.

@Joe90.  For a short term work around, try saving ever 10 minutes or so using the internal save command CTRL+s.  A save does a garbage collect and resets some of the queues.  Are you running on Cheetah mode?

Frequent ctrl+s is saving my sanity as well as the game! I normally use pause or turtle speed.

Good.  Whatever is gumming up the works increased with NAM 31.1.  I suspect that garbage collection is not performed often enough by the program, so saving is a partial work around for this.

From my teaching days, I seem to remember that C is not very good at this, and that using a lot of calls to the allocator will eventually get you in trouble.  C++ is better at this.  This is a quote from the program's header.  That is a really old compiler.

Of some note, by the way, that at that time Visual Studio was not used.  (Not sure it was even available.)

We've known this for some time, it doesn't have any DRM either.
