^ Should the file not be there, you wouldn't see (bugged) arrows...

^ Actually both LHD and RHD arrows files were present.  I removed the LHD one and ... nothing happened when I redrew the TLA.  Same appearance.  Looks like a texture problem.  I now have only the RHD file.  Should I remove it as well??  My version is doggedly RHD.

Also, the installer shouldn't put both of them in, now, should it?

EDIT: Further to the above, I did a reinstall to test this.  Sure enough, it installed both files.  Again, I removed the LHD file.  Surprised things were not worse with both present.

I suppose some keen type may have done these turn arrows as HD.  Not a good thing for people on Linux who have graphics problems and have to run software mode.

Yeah I have both files installed too, but as they share same IID the last will overwrite the first, so they will not conflict. Btw those arrows aren't textures, but models.

To circumvent the annoyance of the flashy arrows, you could remove the folder from your plugins... Of course you'll lose the TLA arrows in the process.

Yes, I figured that.  The LHD one shouldn't load at all unless the LHD option has been chosen.  Like it or not, this is a BUG in the installer.  Meanwhile, since I was just testing something, I am going to await 31.2 before I do anything drastic.

Anyone know what's wrong with the model (prop?)?

EDIT:  Tried it in hardware mode, all zooms.  Same problem.  There is really something wrong with the textures on that model.

And, yes, I can run in hardware mode for about 10 minutes before it goes nutz.

No, it shouldn't.  I vaguely remember that there was an extra copy of this file and I think I had to fix the installer not to load it.  In any case, the code now is quite clear - only one version gets loaded - and when I run the installer, I see only one version.  This was most likely done after the release of NAM 31.1.  So this should be fixed for NAM 31.2.

As for the texture problem, the NWM team will have to look at that.

I think this might be the right place to share a possible NAM bug found recently in NAM 31.1.

It seems that some of the bridges allow Ferry Traffic, while others do not even though the popup reports they are high enough (OK for Ferries) for all the bridges.

Detailed Information available here:

Thanks.

Very strange.  It works fine for me in both hardware and software mode, all zooms.  Do you have any of the special arrow mods set?

I downloaded the new version. Unfortunately, the installer still stops working before "Setup Type" comes up.

I am sorry, but we are not telepathic.  We need you to specify your hardware and operating environment when posting something like this.

Windows 7, HP, Core 2 Duo, ATI card, Deluxe Edition, Program files in D drive, patched, some transit mods installed, has no performance issues.

I tried the arrow mod you have, and it still works for me.  It looks to me like you're having a texture override from a bad texture.  In the installer, under "Road Textures and Markings" off the bottom of the screen, what do you have set?

I am having a problem with my off ramp for my "PS" highway not coming up at all. Has this issue already been addressed? I have tried re-installing Nam 31.1 and making sure everything is checked off as needed but I still get the same problem even tried leveling out the area as well. Here is my link to the picture: https://s1310.photobucket.com/user/jlt122/media/missingofframp_zps6f91047b.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

Edit: Sorry about my post, my off & on ramps seem to be just fine in my other region that I have. just disregard my post.

If this is a conflict, I could switch it easily.

EDIT:  Tried it.  No soap.  Now set to Maxis Standard.  Someone needs to look at the textures on that model.

Are you running with administrator rights?  If so, do you have UAC turned on?

I am on a secondary administrator account ( It once did not have privileges, but I gave them to it), and UAC is off.

In that case, the most likely explanation is that you have a corrupted download file; a number of those have been reported.  Please try downloading another copy of the NAM and installing that.

Try to select one of the Alternate Arrow Texture Sets. See if that works (the standard option would be USA Style)

That did it.  Maybe that texture should be selected by default?  Seems to me that no texture was selected at all unless you choose one of these.

No, it works fine for me (and most people) without having to select any additional textures.  However, your results do indicate the likelihood of a conflict in your Plugins, as the Alternate Arrow Texture Sets are loaded after everything else, but the basic texture isn't.

Try temporarily moving everything out of your Plugins folder except the main NAM and the z___NAM folders, and then open a new city and try drawing a TLA-3.  I bet that this will work.

Thanks.  I thought I got all my transportation plugins when I rebuilt my plugins suite last month, but I'll edit it again.  It is not that big that I need to make the drastic test you suggest.  Will let you know when I find it.

Missing Rail Piece

Not sure if it has been reported yet, but there is a missing regular rail piece (visually) when building a rail circle connecting 4 directions with a straight rail line through the middle (but not 2 straight rail lines through the middle as to cause a +).  I've verified this happening both at a city edge connected to simnation, and in the middle of the map amidst nothing but plain old maxis farms fields on all sides.

I have no transportation mods of any type in my plugins folder except NAM 31.1 full default install.

Is this something already being fixed for NAM 31.2 or should I take and share some images of it?  Thanks!

This appears to be a previously unreported bug.  Images would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Ok sure...

Center Farm Missing Rail: Power-WasteCity-Jun6551370200461.png

I also can confirm that when running a train UDI over one of these missing pieces, the mission or free drive immediately ends.

--

On another note, it would be particularly nice to get the rounded inside tracks without having to force a straight rail through the entire connection.  It creates the perfect circle when putting 2 straight tracks all the way through to form an + but when bulldozing just the center piece to remove the + the inside round rails that I intend to use are also eliminated, returning the path back to being forced to only go left or right and not around the center to the left and right and back straight again.  Minor issue for most im sure, but if it could be solved, Id be a big fan of that configuration.  Thanks!

In the second picture, I found the work-around for the missing corner is to add a crossing rail piece.  Just drag it into a cross.  Not nice, but it does work.

Yes, the cross takes care of the missing rail piece in both of the above cases, but as I was explaining, I dont want the cross, Id rather put something else in that center tile (park, waterpump, etc), but I still want the interior circle and the route path it provides (with only 2 switches instead of 3 each way).

The NAM team may be interested in both the missing rail for this configuration and the idea of making it so you can build the look and full route path without the center tile (cross).   But you're right, trains wont disappear with the cross configuration, so I made these all into full cross circles for now. But apart from the idea, the bug seemed appropriate to share here. Hope thats ok to share both.

Thanks for the images--it looks like one of the setups that got a bit messed up when the RAM Team tried to undertake a "realism" initiative a number of releases ago, so that one's likely been there since at least NAM 25 or so.  As it'll take a fair bit of code rebuilding to take care of it, and given that it's about 6 weeks past NAM 31.1, this will be a longer-term project for after NAM 31.2

GLR End Loops still have no paths (I only confirmed the GLR-only ones, the avenue ones are fine and I haven't tested the road or street ones yet.)

Interesting.  Ok, its good to know not to expect it in 31.2.  I'm just happy to have been able to report it and get it noticed and on the list for when it can be worked on.  Thanks!

Does anyone know if my other post to this thread recently about half the bridges failing to allow ferries (and the exact bridges are known and labeled)... has been seen and documented into the work queue for a future NAM update?  If not, I can repost all the data again. Thanks!
