I'm not sure on the limitations but;

 

What are the limitations in expanding/building outside of the pre-set boundaries? Did the old mod just allow little bits? is it even viable? do the lands beyond a certain distance have "buildable terrain" etc..?
I ask this because it would be an incredible experience to manage at entire region area. It would eat an average PC alive, but I think it would present a nice challenge in terms of the already existing mechanics. Whether it's controlling air pollution in a way that's real time and matter. Placing services more regularly in order to access all areas, fire police/etc.., education for smaller areas, power/water/etc.. pulses would need to be.... either well above the threshhold or placed more readily across the landscape. All the way down to the more specific things like having Omega strategically placed so industry/commercial are more readily supplies with freight/drones. And the more efficient use of trains as a transport alternative to get sims from one side of the region to the other for work.
 

I am utterly clueless to the modding scene, so i'm just curious if it's even possible, now that offline mode is being implemented.

is there a way to like add more cars into the game I really want some dodge challengers and some chargers and lambos and Bugatti's and stuff like that that would be amazing.

It's probably already been suggested, but;

 

One Directional Roads. / Traffic Control

If at all possible. This would make for a incredibly traffic control,, something I loved from my old days of Transport Tycoon. Even the ability to control certain types of traffic, eg. industry vehicles, depot trucks, etc.. only being able to go down certain roads. I mean these rules exist in reality, so I was thinking...

I would love a map that way just one huge city rather then 16 individual cities.  With this i would be able to control the rail system placing rail where I want not have it dedicated to only certain cities.  It would also provide better commuting from res areas into idu areas.  If I could have one of the 16 city 4 great works maps and have it just one massive city with the 4 great works that would be a dream for me personally.  The commute now does not work that well I have trains ferries and road connections and yet still have unemployed people and the city next to it has 1500 unfilled jobs of various wealth level.  I attempted to build similar to older simcity games wher you have the res city and have them commute to the indus city but it worked much better in previous versions of sims.

 

Also can we have cargo trains and cargo ship options at the great works sites?  As far as I can tell the goods can only get to the great works site by trucks 10 tons at a time for example and takes you forever staring at a screen with nothing to do but check your great work progress every so often.  With the train or cargo ship option on the great works site the great works would get completed a whole lot faster and make the game more enjoyable.  Ofcourse I play in a single player mode so only one city at a time is sending the goods to the great works the other cities stop sending the goods until I play that particular city when playing in single player mode the great works sites will only receive the goods from the city you are playing as you all know which I wish could also be changed but I would settle for the above mentioned cargo ship and cargo rails at great work sites.

what i would love to see is money come in from public transport. it is ridiculous that there isn't an adjustable fee you can charge your sims/tourists for using your cities transportation. especially streetcars and buses. if possible, i would love to see this added to the game.

I'd like to see emergency vehicles take priorities of the roads: so when they pass along a road, any vehicles in their way move into the nearest available building, then as soon as the emergency vehicle is gone, they come out (or, if it was meant to be their final destination, stay in).

It's a big ask, and modding for the game is in early stages, but it could really benefit traffic and the realistic aspect of the game: it's something that SC4 did fantastically well which has now just evaporated, alongside farms, one-way roads, and several other beautiful buildings (missing the Courthouse and Opera house!).

That is one of the best ideas I have heared! as you say, I have never seen a free train, ship or bus!

I haven't been following this topic, but I have two ideas for mods I'd like to either learn how to do or have someone else make for me.

 

1.  The ability to plop service drone hangers without first placing the required large service building or adding a service level to a megatower.  I tried to make this by using the SimCityPak and putting the specific hangers in the different service tabs (like you would do for the roads) but as soon as I used them in the game they disappear and don't have the concrete lot below the buildings like they normally would.

 

2.  Make the garbage atomizers more efficient.  They only dispose of .3 tons/hr more garbage than the incinerators and require ControlNet to run.  Four atomizers dispose of 1.2 tons/hr of garbage more than the incenerators.  I think the atomizers should be at least twice as efficient as the regular incinerators.

 

I know these mods might break EA's mod rules (not sure if they would for certain), but once offline mode comes out it shouldn't matter anyways.

I thought up of a mod that would add a new type of mega tower floor called the hybrid. the hybrid floor would basically have 2 or 3 or even 4 floors in one, even if they are the same type. and it would take the same amount of space as one mega tower floor. ITS THE FUTURE! but it would have to be researched by the academy with all four extensions added and 2 floors = 80000 simolions, 3 = 14000, and 4 = 18000. so even though you can pack more Sims in one mega tower, it is EXTREMELY expensive and your city will need to be close to complete in its development

 

I hope you like my first mod idea/first post  and modders, i hope you will consider making this idea into a mod for simcity 5 cities of tomorrow                                                                                          JohnDin05

Hi modders, can you guys develop a mod that makes that 2 or 3 lane roads that have emergency vehicles driving down and make the Sims drive to the right of the road for the emergency vehicle to get to the fire or crime or injured sim.

how come I have not seen a skyscraper?? You could do the Burj Khalifa or One World Trade Center to attract tourists

A few things I've wanted  that would make traffic so much better would be no u-turns at lights, dedicated left turn signals/lanes, one way roads, and roundabouts to improve traffic.

can any make a mod where you can add off ramps to highways that running above ground? or make it to where two or more bridges can intersect each other? thanks

I'd really appreciate if someone made an unlimited ploppable mod, which removes the too far from building error and allows the player to put down an unlimited amount of any ploppable.

I can't stand the spaces between lots -especially on curved roads- and it prevents the dense urban feeling. Please make a mod which eliminates it and also give us some tool to fill the spaces with miniature plopables and concrete fillers like SC4.

Could someone make plobbable versions of some famous buildings? Examples include St Paul's Cathedral, Notre Dame, the US Congress, the Houses of Parliament, etc. Even with so little room in the game it would give it some greater reality if like in real cities it did contain some notable public buildings, preferably a lot more attractive than the buildings designed by EA. The quality of building design is one area where Cities XL beats this version of Sim City hands down.

Same question to modmakers: is it possible in SC2013 to display in a window with description for enable building the total number overall apartments and number of apartments occupied by residents?

 

Example (SC4):

Indeed this parameter already exists in the Glass Box - why not to display this in description of buildings?

 

For example, total statistic has very detailed characteristics in SimCity 4 with modded interface:

Not sure if this Mod is possible but how about people creating different city's and once a city reaches a certain level + money they can unleash a disaster onto another city anonymously. Other city's can fight back with disasters (once unlocked) however still remaining anonymous so they have no idea who is unleashing the attacks. The city's can then remain anonymous or build a monument to show who they attacked and how they did it.

Whoa someone else read my mind, these are exactly what I was trying to do in SimCityPak. And I must say it's not happening for me. I envy the people with the time and patience to identify SimCity files to modify. 

 

These mods would benefit me greatly  and I also would appreciate the attempt.

Hi, modders. This is my first time here, and I want to say that you've done really an amazing job moddling all the trains, buses, trams, buildings, it's amazing. :)

 

I have a request for traffic, which is, will you be so kind as to give every car, motorcycle, truck, bus, signal left and signal right, prior before they turn? Sure that would look very realistic, and amazing. :)

 

Please make it so that when a vehicle changes lanes, prior before it does, that it gives signal until the moment after it has turned into another street.

 

Another request, at the moment, the brake lights go on at the point when the vehicle stands still. For those that are really into it, how about letting the brake lights light up the moment a vehicle decelerates?

 

Hopefully when following a vehicle's algorithm, that the left and right signals, and braking lights can be moddled. thank you. :)

Hi

 

What i would like to be able to do is name streets and be able to place signs.  That would be a nice feature to bring back.

 

Also any Australian content would be great like roads, transport vehicles, emergency vehicles, standard vehicles, buildings etc.

Is it possible to move all the Specialization submenu's (Metal, Culture, Casino, etc.) to the regular menu, so all building menu options are available at the bottom, without the need for the buttons at the left?

can anyone make real places like fast food and gas stations? i miss the ones in sc4 and stores like smith's food and drug,walmart and gamestop and toys r us

one thing that i would like to see, that would also make multiplay more interesting, is the ability to buy land outside of the city area. (of course, this would mean that the resource maps would need to be changed since i guess they only have resource data in the actual buildable areas).
