How do I turn off the grid lines?

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to turn off the white grid lines (not the road guides), but the white square grid tiles all over my map. In SC4, you would just press 'g' or alt g to turn them off or on....but not on SC5 apparently. Can someone help me out please? I feel stupid and those lines are so annoying.

Thanks!!!

Theres a tick box when you are on the road menu near the option to draw straight / curvy roads

Why the tutorials covers next to none these features i do not know.

The other grid im assuming you mean the borders you cannot turn off.

He mentioned that they aren't the road guides.

I was unaware there was a grid that wasn't the road guides at all in this game. Mind taking a screenshot of your problem?

Probably in the main menu under settings. I know there is an option to display/not display city borders and I would suspect it could be found there.

It may be some sort of graphical glitch though.

i would do anything to get such a grid (but it seems to me like a glitch, not a feature)

Exactly. I saw a few pictures with such a grid, and I really, really want to use it to better design my city...especially since they don't show how far a zone can extend when you're trying to build roads. Extremely annoying

I have those grid lines as well when i played last night. Anyways i think you might want to keep it as it really helps when your doing your layout specially when zoning. I found out last night that a high density structures covers 3-3.5 grid and because of that i can maximize my space compare to my first city which has a lot of unutilized space.

Anyway i think you could hide it on settings TAB.

I didn't even know that was an option. Those gridlines will be very helpful, especially considering my current cities consist of many roads at very odd angles. Thanks for sharing CoolColJ

Actually ALT only turns on/off the guidelines, not the grid shown above...

Wrong.  Alt turns off road tool grid.  I have the same problem as OP.  When I turn my lighting settings higher than minimum, I get this attrocious grid on my city, just like the pic he posted.  WTF?

Watched several video and people have grid lines. Ended up smashing every key on my keyboard trying to find something to turn those grid lines on and nothing.

It's a graphical glitch, so if you want them/don't want them, best way is to reinstall drivers or playing with graphical settings.

My (irritating) grid lines only turn off if you set lighting on minumum, like Brlan said.

I do hope a update is released where we can change the stupid things with a hotkey so we can use them when we want them, and not have them on for say.. videos and screenies? lol

I mean, sure, you can put lighting on min and they'll go away, but why should we have to give up our beloved graphics?

I especially say this for heavy (low tech) industry areas (where my ground is black.. hehe)... the grid is especially attrocious in these areas, since it's that harsh bright color. :/
