Unemployed commuters ?
jpsurratt2005 replied to jpsurratt2005's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I've slowly been increasing the land value to where I have less and less low wealth workers. If I eliminate all the low wealth then I'll be putting myself at risk for not having enough workers when/if he does something about his cities. Medium Wealth Commuters: 0 High Wealth Commuters: 1 LMAO! No Arcology anywhere in the region. We're building one in the opposite corner of the region but it's not connected via roads to this city, and also, not completed.. -
Well I seem to have a traffic problem that is caused by too many commuters coming in for work from the surrounding cities. My city details list a problem that should just be able to go away on its own, or one would think anyway. Low Wealth Workers: 3052 Low Wealth Jobs: 13,188 Low Wealth Workers Commuting: 34,000 As you can see, I have about 24,000 workers coming in that just cant find work. I was expecting that they would eventually level out once the commuters figured out that I dont have that many jobs available. Are they coming in and driving around only to leave and drive through the next city? My brother is the mayor of the other cities in the region, so I told him to check out his details and see what he can do. Maybe I need to create a job city packed full of industry. Suggestions?

Managing traffic is so frustrating
jpsurratt2005 replied to Herb0815's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I try my best to lay down one major avenue through the city. I dont zone anything on this avenue, especially not commercial. I do not connect any high density roads to it either. This prevents stoplights and lets the traffic flow at top speed all the way to the desired road. They then turn off and deal with side street traffic that very rarely gets bogged down. So far this has made for the best city, as all my emergency vehicles can zip around freely and take care of business. -
population Al def. broken imo....
jpsurratt2005 replied to parenzo's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The regional population counters have never worked. I have cities that are full of people. Region still shows 0 population for the city. -
What are you gifting to the HQ city? Confused...

University Attendance
jpsurratt2005 replied to MOWS 4 U's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Yes, dorms just increases the attendees by a fixed number to let researches go faster and to lvl up university. isn't...that what I said before?...they add 500 students per dorm? and this whole topic is about how to get more students to the university from a site I found http://simcity2013wiki.com/wiki/Dormitory it says it adds additional students to your population that attend your university I thought the OP was asking how to get his own students to attend. I thought he had a bunch of uneducated sims that weren't being educated. Also, the number reflects the time of day, so if it says 33 students check the time. If it's early in the morning then you just have to wait until more students arrive. -
How do you handle traffic?

Excellent tips perablenta. A grid design is preferred by many but can become locked up if there are too many stoplights. -
Sim City advice - Radiation disaster

Just run the city until you get bored. Transfer the money to a fresh canvas and avoid nuclear power. Probably not worth the time waiting it out. -
University Attendance

The dorms are only used to meet requirements for research. They dont attract your sims to the University. If I read correctly in a previous post. -
Ground pollution and sewage

FYI, the trees are dying. Mostly from ground pollution. Air pollution doesn't seem to kill them, of course. -
Embezzlement? Wait, what?
jpsurratt2005 replied to perafilozof's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I tracked a criminal on the crime data layer and when I clicked on him it said he was going to embezzle funds. My police caught him so he never got the money. -
Unreal Origin Update - 42MB DLing @ 7KB/sec ?
jpsurratt2005 posted a topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
Anyone else having issues downloading the Origin update? I went to get on just now and it's going unbelievably slow. I downloaded SimCity at over 1MB/sec, so why is the Origin update having issues? -
You will make good returns day after day if you can get the tourists in and out in a timely fashion. I've seen super high returns, and a few losses, depending on the traffic.
