Why should we vote for either one of these games...it's pointless because different people have different aspirations for a game. Both games can be played at anytime, as long as you have both games, play one for a bit then play the other, why the competition? Who cares, after playing the Simcity BETA, I can see there are ups and downs on both games, but I will definitely play them both for sure.

I love Simulation and building games period. I still play Tycoon City New York, Simcities Societies, City Life 2008 and Simcity 4 to name a few. I can go back and forth between them all noting the differences, but who cares, each has their own strengths and weaknesses, but I love to dabble in all of them once in a while. Stop trying to compare based on your own needs and just enjoy the damn games.

Like I already mentioned, CXL doesn't even run on my computer due to developer laziness/unwillingness to fix the problem, so I have every reason to choose SC2013 and not CXL. I have tested the SimCity beta, and it does in fact run on my computer.

Based upon the Beta Weekend the upcoming Sim City definitely has the edge over Cities XL, just based upon the content. Even if I wasn't able to use some of it, the implementation seems to be that much better and not as constrained either ( well aside from city size, but that's negligible ). Graphically a slight edge can be given to cities XL, but even that's up for debate because the upcoming Sim City is graphically soothing. Sim City upon release will definitely out perform Cities XL at launch.

In a few years and with some additional content and mods I'd expect both games to meet the expectations of those who play them.

I really don't care about city size, I enjoy a smaller city size, just more fun to me I guess and besides, I really don't mind the lack of buildings or graphics since it reminds me of SC3K a little. I play SC4D without mods again because it's a great reminder of what it's like without the mods and much more challenging. As far as being online goes, it would probably not be a problem since EA has a lot of money to run the server regardless of how many people leave the game. I know that I'm going to get despised for this comment, but I always remember that phrase from some of the SC players saying "I don't really mind the dated graphics" then saying stuff about the new SC graphics and complaining about it. I understand that this comment isn't going to be popular upon many, but I really don't care.

I choose CitiesXL 2012. Why you might ask?

Well I read a comment someone has posted over at the "Beta testers" thread saying that this upcoming SIMCity game only relies on ONE (1) processing core of a modern day CPU much like CitiesXL was. So even if your computer is a monster with lots of RAM and a powerful GPU (or two.. or three that you link via SLI) it wouldn't matter because the game will eventually lag not only because of your connection to the game's server/s but also because the game is not optimized for multi-core PCs.

Now the fact that the game will lag has a major bearing to my choice between the two. See this upcoming game will most likely lag due to the glassbox engine simulating thousands of Agents and SIMs. And as I've read someone else's comment on one of these SIMCity reboot discussion threads had mentioned, the smaller city tile decision on the developers' side was made to accommodate for this heavy load on a system running the glassbox engine, and not because of too many resources handling rendering of buildings and structures. So yeah... Glassbox engine equals richer simulation of sims in a city but in exchange we'd sacrifice bigger city tiles. CitiesXL however does things similar to how SC4 did things before, but this time around the resources goes to rendering richer full 3D Buildings. In the end it is a choice between "better" SIM Simulation (of whom I still am not so impressed) versus bigger and richer cityscapes (but devoid of realistic virtual people goings on), of whom for me the choice is clear.... bigger and richer cityscapes! "To Hell with every individual Agent or SIM!", I say. I like building cities for my own enjoyment and not for every other Dick and Jane living in it.

And speaking of enjoying the city I create.... does this new SIMCity even allow you to "dive" right in into your city and see things in first person perspective as if you were a citizen in your created city just like in CXL? Or all we're getting is this tilt shift hoozafudge that locks things in an aerial perspective? If I can't dive right in into my city on this new game then that's another minus point for me.

Also, "Boo!" to always online, DLC and no single player mode :P

The only thing I dislike in Cities XL is that the cities don't feel "alive" as they do in SimCity. I will take a look at Cities XL Platinum, see if there some "simulation" in it.

I'll judge once I've played SC2013 for a while

As far as I know they did not change any of the simulation.  I like CXL12, but it don't have much simulation depth. But all that has already been said in this topic!

Anyways, till SimCity actually comes out, I ain't gonna vote ;-)
