I have not pre-ordered the game and I will not pre-order the game. In fact, I discourage people from pre-ordering this game until there is a 100% offline single player mode.

I have the code to verify the game but I didn't keep the email with it, but when I log in it said I didn't have any orders...?

@Mark Waybill - What about a tab that shows pending orders? That where mine was.

(I edited the poll to add a couple more choices)

If I was sitting on the fence at all about the pre-order, today's Maxis Community Interview definitely shoved me off the edge. I don't know what community they are listening to, but it sure doesn't seem it's us!

I am jumping through the hoops to try and get this cancelled. I wasn't given the phone call option like NCGAIO - had to settle for email contact instead. I think I can cancel through Paypal too?

You have made a very wise decision, Mark Waybill. If a person pre-orders this game, then the person should not complain about the many faults of the game. By not pre-ordering the game, the person knows that there will be many faults to the game.

I was about to pre-order, until I saw several screenshots, that, while beautiful, alluded to a Societies - like gameplay that I am not interested in. I waited, allowing the news to progress, but the news and images on the gameplay have not been encouraging and do not align with my interests as a player.

I won't preorder the game. It looks that the game is being designed as EA sees to make as big a profit in a short time as it can. They don't care much about veteran gamers' input; all they care is the bottom line in the short term.

*Stranger from Bastion voice* Alright kid, settle down, let me tell ya a story, one about the aftershock of the Mass Effect 3 debacle. It was some time ago, during the transition into the forced online play era. Remember that? No? Okay then. Maxis was releasing a new game called.. What do you mean what's Maxis? Anyway, the SimCity reboot what about to come out. Me and many many others rallied up to protest against the game's lack of features. The reboot, you see, rebooted everything, and the game sucked. We made threads about disappointment and canceling our preorders. The the game came out. Not a single person in the Simtropolis community bought the game. Total game sales were less than 200k, and Maxis was shut down. Oh, how we laughed. It was for the better, because EA was then sued into the ground by the government due to it's data collection. I still play SC4. It's DRM-free. I know, a novel concept to you. Want to play it?

This community does not make up the majority of buyers, it will not bomb and it will sell far more than 200,000. The millions that have played SimCity for the past several decades will not care about bubbled cities and lack of terraforming. Believe it or not, the game is still HIGHLY anticipated outside of Simtropolis.com

I agree with MINIggy03. Just because you frequent some blogs and forums, that doesn't mean that no one is buying the game. The number of people on the forums and blogs hardly make a dent in the HUGE pool of consumers that exist outside these places. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people who don't browse forums as much as we do but would still buy the game when it released.

Think about the whole Mass Effect 3 debacle and then consider that the game sold over 2 million copies not including digital sales. How many of that pool of millions of people do you think went on the web and complained? We, as gamers, frequent these sites because we are interested. But that isn't to say there aren't people outside of these boards, blogs, and forums that aren't interested, that won't window shop, that won't buy because of word of mouth, that won't impulsively buy.

Yes, on these forums, it sounds bad for SC. The vast majority of people aren't happy with the way things are proceeding. But consider the number of posters who are actually here posting their displeasure. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just about 50 people.

My point is, your scope of unhappy fans is just a couple forums and blogs and that doesn't encompass the larger majority of people, who we don't interact with or even see post about the game, who would buy it.

That may well be but there is no evidence to back up the assertion that there is huge anticipation for it. The only evidence we have is the reaction we are seeing everywhere there is news or mention of it. We have no access to the amount of pre-orders so we can't speculate on that. What I'm saying is that we MAY just be an angry minority but there isn't any evidence to indicate anything else either.

EA: It's no point in designing something for the people if it isn't 80% of what people want.

If it's for the company alone, that's something else. But, people will be playing this, not companies.

Never Pre-order games... If there is a game comming out that I like I will watch it until its released... Then if Im still crazy wanting it Ill buy it which is what I did with Mass Effect 3 (shame about ending though!). Otherwise Ill wait till word of mouth and if generally people love it ill buy.

If I can be really patient ill wait untill a game has been out for a while espcially a PS3 game as they cost £40.00+ in UK on release, if I can wait... can pick them up for £15.00 lol.

Well I preordered sim city and is extremely fun I built a city but a guy polluted my city. Preorder costs $79.99 for special edition. And for deluxe is $59.99.

I don't mean to sound rude but what the heck are you talking about? It sounds like you're saying you have the game, which obviously isn't true.

On the whole "new news" we've had on Simcity, I still haven't changed my mind, it all looks a bit stale already, it seems that there isn't that much to show anymore.

The "discounts" on pre orders seems very desperate, why discount pre order prices? This means you're litterally downplaying your own product that hasn't even been released yet... and that could mean that EA... IS actually secretly listening to the community.

As I mentioned in the sticky I'm probably going to pre-order it, since there's no harm and I won't be billed until release. The £40 voucher is pretty sweet, a free game or two, and I actually think the game looks promising from the footage. However, that said, if at release it doesn't meet my expectations or doesn't have a capable offline mode I'll chase a refund. Thankfully where I am, the UK, legally companies (even Steam) are obligated to issue a no reasons needed refund within 7 days of requesting one.

There isn't anything left to show? Seriously? You really think they've shown off the entire game? Everyone's who played the demo said so many items were unavailable for use. Some demo reviews even revealed features none of us knew. How many games were completely revealed 5 months out of the game release? We haven't even seen final graphics.

Everything gets discounted at or pre-release these days. Even some console games are $10 off at release and the entire week of sometimes. For instance I went two buy to new release albums yesterday and both we're being sold for $8.00 the week of release. Does that mean the album isn't good? Of course not they could be albums of the year, they just want to move units. Every way they can combat piracy and still make money they will do.

I never pre-ordered and I won't. If the game turns out to be good, I'll buy it. But I doubt that will happen.

I'm speculating that EA will cut out modders with their always online game. They will probably force users to buy EA custom items from EA at the EA sims store. I could be wrong, but we are talking about EA here. As to those saying that casual gamers outnumber SimTropolis and hard core fans, they don't. Past games that went after casuals and failed: SimCity Societies and Microsoft Flight just to name a couple.

I want this game to be good but I just don't see it happening.

Maxis already stated that they plan to support mods, just not at launch. Though it remains to be seen if modders will have as much freedom as they did with SC4.
