It was meant either metaphorically, or some of the more thermoplastic components were adversely affected.

I don't have air-conditioning, but staying inside definitely helps. If it's humid, evaporative cooling is less effective, but air blowing across a cold, damp towel or something similar should do something.

If all else fails, run yourself a cold bath. Unless you're in a drought at the same time, like most of Australia always is...

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

From the lovely and fragrant city of Stockton, CA (where I happen to be trapped in a vacation mishap), it's bloody buggering hot here. I grew up in London (but live in the Bay Area now). I'm not used to this heat. Even now, at ~11:30 local time, it's hovering above 80 F. AAGH.

Arthur says it is 95 F in the kitchen.  It is probably a little cooler sitting here next to the open screen door.  Two big fans on a full blast.

Weather network has 77 f for here, but that's outside with a bright sun day.  The weather radar has nothing for here.

About noon today downtown: 93 °F

About noon today at my house: 88 °F

That's what ~450 feet difference in elevation, more trees with more shade, and moving away from the urban heat island does!

I'm a lifeguard at a public pool, so I spend the majority of my time out in that sweltering heat. It has been upwards of 95 Farenheit for the past month, and managment at the pool makes us pay for any drinks we get. Needless to say, I've had 2 cases of heat exhaustion from work this summer.

And just yesterday, with temperatures at 106 degrees F, an elderly woman suffered from a heat stroke, and EMS had to be called. It was the first major rescue in years.

Cool in Adelaide right now, but you'll get yours in a short time.  Snowballs, I suppose.

Today is a little milder.  73 foreign hight but the humidity is 86% which doesn't help much.  Clear and sunny.

It is 100 fahrenheit outside, it feels like 115 or 116. So I was, and to a certain degree, still am very miserable. Probably just cause it is extremely humid. We went to visit my aunt and uncle today, they live in the country, (sort of, you can say haven town). 30 minute drive from where we are, going up there wasn't so bad, but coming back down to Fort Worth was a nightmare. It is so hot that I don't feel like doing anything but sleeping right now. I am sort of crabby as well right now. It has really gotten to my head,
