  1. I'm quite fond of London Waterloo Station and Paris's Gare du Nord, due to lovely architecture and deep history.
  2. I've been following this since the beginning... it's coming along beautifully. Josh, yours is excellent (if a bit large), and I'm looking forward to seeing Poke's.
  3. What is your favouite airport?

My personal favourite is KSFO, San Francisco International Airport, because of the beautiful views upon takeoff and landing, efficiency of transport, modernity, cleanliness, and general friendliness. The only downside is actually getting into the airport, the 101 is always packed and the maze of roads out front is confusing to many people. EDIT: My first runner up is London Heathrow, mainly because of modernity, friendliness, ease of security, and ease of access to central London (my hometown).
  4. Worst City Planning

I'm going to have to vote for San Jose, CA... it's basically solid suburbs from the 280 down to Gilroy, with only three major highways running through (the 280, plus the 880 and 101 are quite narrow). It's terribly griddy and traffic is horrific from Downtown to Saratoga pretty much most of the day.
  5. Windows 7 Install Error

Well, I've taken a closer look at Disc 2 and realised that it's got a large and nasty-looking scratch from the centre to the outside. I've cleaned it as Nonny suggested, tried it and failed, then I used a special disc repair tool I purchased years ago, tried it, failed, and now I've just borrowed a friend's disc to install. So everything is fine, and I appreciate the help.
  6. Windows 7 Install Error

Let's see. I'm installing Deluxe, my disks are from ~2006, the surfaces are scratch-free, and there were no disks in my poor old burned laptop.
  7. Well, I've recently purchased a new laptop after my old, Vista-equipped laptop caught fire (long story), and, naturally, the first thing I do is install SimCity4. So I'm sitting there, I've just put the next disk in, and it seems to stop on 'Current File: SimCity_1.dat." So I click on it, and it goes "Not Responding." I can't get rid of it unless I hold down the power button and shut down. Can't even end the process. BTW, I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. Has anyone else experienced this?
  8. I've got it back here in San Francisco, Comcast finally got on the ball.
  9. San Francisco, CA, USA I'm getting the squatter.
  10. Right, I'll take pics of the preview render next time. Thanks for the textures heads-up.
  11. I had actually just sat down to post these when I saw your post... BATtempt 1: A sign made up of two boxes and two cylinders. At least I figured out how to texture it. BATtempt 2: Another sign, this time overhead, made up of five cylinders and four boxes. This one took me a while. BATtempt 3: I'm working on a small, basic, house in the Euro tileset. Haven't got the scaling quite right, I've been testing it ingame and in LotEditor, but it's almost the right size. Is there a way I can get the textures off the Maxis roofs and walls?
  12. I'll put up pics of my latest attempt later today, but for now, a question not-so-related to BAT: Is there anywhere other than the STEX where I can download the NDEX skyscrapers? It's almost impossible to download from here.
  13. ...oh. Probably could have thought that out.
  14. This is absolutely brilliant work, SC4IE. It simplifies it nicely and makes it easy to get acclimated to 3dsMax, which has a rather steep learning curve. This should be put in the Omnibus, or at least stickied here.
  15. I've finally sat down and made a BAT thread. I believe the name is more than adequate. Anyway, I taught myself to BAT a couple years ago (quite badly, though) and just a couple days ago, I decided to try again. I made a couple ugly, ugly highway signs for my main city but they... worked and I managed to actually make them look vaguely nice ingame. I might even try to make a building one of these days. I'll put up pictures of my various projects soon, but till then, a question: 1. How can I make a cylinder go horizontally in gmax?
