Created a request thread, if a mod could start removing any requests posted in this thread from now on I would appreciate that. Btw, my hell week is over :D now I have a bit more free time during the middle of the day (still not much, but better than an hour only) so I might start doing some BATing again.

Hi guys. Wanted to do something simple so I can work on some of my texturing techniques in gimp and such, so I'm doing Picasso's "The Head." The model is very simple, I whipped it up in a few hours, the texturing will take a bit longer, but overall this is just gonna be a quicky.

This one is probably gonna be hd since it's relatively small.

Chicago is my favorite city, architecture-wise with Dubai a distant second. There are so many buildings and landmarks that I would love to see from this great city in the framework of SC4. If I were to post every building and landmark that I would like to see, such as:

    United Center

    US Cellular Field

    Grant Park with Buckingham Fountain

    Trump Tower

670 TheScore's downtown studios (NBC tower)?

...this thread would be full of many pages of images.

I am a native Chicagoan transplanted in Dubai on business.

I made my own texture finally :D figured out how to use gimp well enough now to do that.

Gonna finish texturing the statue then figure out what I'm gonna do with it.

Wow, that sure would be an interesting place to work. Are you there right now?

Yes, temporarily. Interesting is putting it lightly. It's too hot to live here.

Also, cool statue. Now, add the Daley Center? :D

Hmm... possibly. Hadn't thought of doing the building behind it as a BAT. I did a glamour shot and made a building with the same window design as daley center for a background as a real quick thing.

I think I'd enjoy doing a box though for a change.

If you're considering BATing the Daley Center, I found these images and websites quite useful for determining scale when I attempted my own SketchUp model of the building.

"The Daley Center was built to house more than 120 court and hearing rooms, a law library, and office space. Each bay is 87’ wide and 48’ deep, with 12’ high windows. It stands 648’ tall, generous for 31 stories."

The bays refer to the parts of the structure divided by the columns.

sky, this, for once, wasn't a request :D I said I was considering it and he helped me find some awesome material for reference.

Also, what would the full dimensions of the building be then... 240 x 150ft?

I do know that the statue is 50 feet tall and the people on the ground look really tiny in comparison.

Approximately 261 x 144ft to be more exact, since there are three bays for each side, but I'm unsure if this includes the width of the columns supporting the bays themselves, which are probably around 9ft at the base and become progressively thinner as the tower's height increases.

Btw, CBT still searches for more members. If you're interested, please pm me or darn. I can think of this thread as a very big team so help it grow.

Alos, I would like to say sorry for no updates on Onterie Center. I'm trying to get 3dsMax. I will definitely get it next week. Also; I hope the version Aaron has made will work soon.

I haven't done an update in a while. Working on daley center now. I'm going to model it and make it for my portfolio, so it'll be perspective first, orthographic second, which is pretty much what I did for a lot of the tribune tower.

Anyways, I did a lot on the bottom half today.

    5BTPO.jpg

The main thing was the texture. I think I'm getting better at making my own textures but what do you guys think?

    edit: Here's sc4 preview

I may or may not visit it tuesday. I'm going to be doing a sort of job shadowing thing for 3d visualization in chicago in the morning and I may make a day of it looking at some buildings.

Wolverine: I'm glad the rust textures turned out :D This and the picasso statue are my first times making textures from scratch in gimp.

While I'm posting, I'll add an update before I go to bed.

    rQMFg.jpg

Btw, if anyone's interested, this is the rust texture.

It looks really great. I think you should make the texture for the panels on the ninth and ten floors the same as on the top, but I currently don't see anywhere else for improvement at this stage in development.

I looked at a picture more closely and discovered that I had the texture at the top too dark. So I'm not going to make it the same as in this picture, but I can definitely make them the same texture overall.
