Latest update after 3 years, as you can see, the businesses have been arriving thick and fast and have caused the Borough's population to spiral to 80,000. Visible here are the massive Djoella Insdustries buildings, 2 standing side-by-side and another under construction......

    KELSEYHEATH GROWS!!

Hello again Simtropolians welcome to the latest addition to the story of Norwich's growth. Since Kelseyheath's emergence as an annexe to Norwich, Mayor George has carefully considered his plans on what this part of Norwich will symbolise, and has decided it should become a centre of academics and sports. The first picture here is an expansion to the A30 corridor, the arrival of Salham Football Club. It was also decided that the region required a symbol of the great unity between it's own nation and the USA, hence the National Baseball Stadium......

Also visible in the previous shot is Kingsway Station. In more detail.....

I am trying to upload a screenshot covering the CBD area but Simtropolis would not allow it42.gif) A puzzler.....

Here is a shot of new development to the east of Kelsey Heath. In view are St. George's Church and memorial cemetery and Kelsey Cathedral....

And here is a brand new museum, the Constable Gallery, it's purpose primarily to showcase the work of John Constable (1776-1837) and other landscape artists. Also here is the College of Arts and Crafts....

Oakhill - Mayor George Goes West

With the population and strength of Norwich growing and growing, Mayor George decided he needed a place to set up parliament for his independent city. He decided that an area west of Central Norwich, along River Hex and the A4 would be ideal, and he named it Oakhill, due to a prominent hill by the river covered in oak trees (the imagination of the man...). This is an aerial view of the new borough after 2 and a half years, and already some 50,000 eager beavers have arrived to call Oakhill home....

    Central Norwich Grows.....

Hi guys a new update for you, Central Norwich has expanded more in tune with the three annexes of Maidenwell, Kelseyheath and Oakhill... some aerial screenshots.......

The Central Business District has almost fully developed to become possibly the country's most important and vibrant hub of business. It's expansion has been aided since the building of City Of Norwich Airport a few years ago.

    /idealbb/files/9Central

Just to the north-east of the CBD is another strong area of businesses, the most prominent being the Swiss Re Headquarters on the bank of the River Hex. The oddly (almost rocket) shaped building is certainly one of the world's most instantly-recognisable buildings....

Next is Broadwater Island, along with the arrival of Norwich United Football Club at the very top of the screen. One of Norwich City's fiercest rivals, the two clubs have had a number of dogged battles in the past few seasons......

Finally, the Olympic Stadium area with the beautiful Olympian Park and more businesses close to Green Park and Norwich Station...

Norwich edges northwards - Clarendon founded

Hello everyone and welcome to the latest update on the growth of Norwich. After smashing the 1,000,000 population barrier Mayor George immediately sanctioned the plans for the Borough of Clarendon. Lying directly north of Central Norwich, it ensured that the city's hub was surrounded on all four adjacent sides by supplementary boroughs. The speedy growth was facilitated by the A1 and A10. First picture here is of new condominiums by the A1, ideal for convenient commuting to Central Norwich.....

    /idealbb/files/1Clarendon.jpg

This picture is of businesses that have sprung to add to the regions financial punch. Also in shot are Clarendon Station, and Clarendon Station Hotel....

    /idealbb/files/2Clarendon.jpg

Clarendon City Hall and clock, beside Chapel Green Square. The Chapel Green area is a community of small businesses and a housing estate that are divided by the A10....

    /idealbb/files/3Clarendon.jpg

Just along the High Street is a Tesco Superstore, Blockbuster Video store and (on the A10 dual carriageway) Clarendon High Court.....

    /idealbb/files/4Clarendon.jpg

Chapel Green Estate....suburbia (compared to the rest of Norwich thus far).....

    /idealbb/files/5Clarendon2.jpg

This is a picture further into the estate. The stadium belongs to Clarendon Athletic Football Club. Built in the heart of the local community, it has become synonomous with the working classes and has a die-hard fan base. Also here is All Saints' Cathedral and Chapel Green Golf Couse....

    /idealbb/files/6Clarendon.jpg

Clarendon's current economic statistics are as follows:

    Population:         149,458
    Funds:

Nice city19.gif I really like the way how the river moves through the city.

Anyway, I always build small towns around the big main city, some farm towns, and some small industrial towns. That way the region looks more realistic, at least in the Netherlands, where I live. But you did a great job44.gif

Donald Sees A Shining Light - Trumps All The Way To Norwich!

Hello everyone and a warm welcome to the latest update in the story of Norwich's growth. Tonight we return to Maidenwell, the second borough to be established after Central Norwich. The habitation of the land is creeping around the region in a clockwise direction - spreading south from the A13.
In our first picture, it has become evident that major business people from all over the world are keen to set roots in the thriving city. One of whom is Donald Trump, who has recreated his magnificent building in Chicago, Illinois to help open new business opportunities and partnerships in Norwich. Also in this picture are the new studios of Momentum Pictures and Anglia Television.....

    /idealbb/files/1Maidenwell.jpg

Residential developments the opposite side of the Great Eastern Dock...

    /idealbb/files/2Maidenwell.jpg

More upmarket residences on the thin strip of land between River Hex (left) and Prince William Dock (right).....

    /idealbb/files/3Maidenwell.jpg

Powerful businesses are settling in the astronomically-highly land valued Prince William Dock. Based here are Bradwell Football Club, Docklands Arena and Maidenwell Stock Exchange.....

    /idealbb/files/4Maidenwell.jpg

In order to facilitate full development of the Prince William Dock area and to spread settlement further south, Mayor George, together with his Department for Planning and Transportation, decided that a new road was needed, the A102. Due to the forseen problems of congestion, this was immediately upgraded to Motorway regulations, thus A102(M). Junction 1 here is with Prince William Dock Approach. Small businesses and apartments have developed alongside, what is essentially, the only major route to Prince William Docks. It is the busiest junction in Norwich......

    /idealbb/files/5Maidenwell.jpg

The Fleming Suspension Bridge. Named after Craig Fleming, Norwich City's battle-hardy defender,  the magnificent structure carries the A102(M) across to the south bank of the River Hex at a mere cost of (approx.)

Norwich Grows Powerful - Deptwich Adds It's Weight

Hello my friends and welcome to the latest update to my first City Journal - Norwich. Mayor George is watching in delight as his brainchild eats up more open, barren land to create a bustling metropolis. This is the story of Deptwich's rise.

Our first picture here is the A102(M) coming in from Maidenwell in the north. Also in view here are H.M. Prison Deptwich (on the northern edge, next to the electric power station), and the South Hackton roundabout (or squareabout), where the A102(M)'s traffic is diverted east and west along the A2.

    /idealbb/files/1Deptwich1.jpg

Mayor George has decided that as the education level in Norwich is of such a high standard, he wants to attract top scientists in a variety of different fields. Therefore, he decided to build the Museum of Space Exploration......

    /idealbb/files/2Deptwich.jpg

......and the Deptwich Observatory. Raised on an artificial hill the observatory holds the world's most powerful telescope, attract a large number of tourists as well as the world's top stargazers.....

    /idealbb/files/3Deptwich.jpg

The nearby South Hackton residential area (under development)....

    /idealbb/files/4Deptwich.jpg

Due to Mayor George's business-friendly taxation policies, everywhere in Norwich is home for big business....

    /idealbb/files/5Deptwich.jpg

The Lawrence Library. Named after author, poet and playwright D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930), it is unique in holding original versions of such classics as Lady Chatterley's Lover and Sons and Lovers. The choice of architecture has been criticised, but Mayor George is adamant that history and the present should go hand-in-hand. A must-see attraction for tourists and residents alike....

    /idealbb/files/6Deptwich.jpg

The Royal College Of Music set in suburban apartment buildings....

    /idealbb/files/7Deptwich.jpg

Deptwich University and Sportspark. The various attractions have pleased folks of all ages. Also in view is Koblenz Station, named after Koblenz, Germany, one of Norwich's twin cities. The others, which also have railway station named after them, are Rouen (France) and Novi Sad (Voydovina, Yugoslavia)...../idealbb/files/8Deptwich.jpg....

A birds-eye view of Deptwich. Just in shot are Queen Victoria Reservoir and Prince Albert Reservoir, side-by-side, as Britain's greatest royal couple were in life......

Yes, it's the opening round of matches in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. At the Olympic Stadium, giants Norwich City were up against one of the lesser teams in the competition, Bradwell. In a surprisingly closely-fought encounter, the Canaries ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Darren Huckerby's second-half winner......

Meanwhile, in Clarendon, Salham from Kelseyheath were thumped convincingly 4-1 by a strong Clarendon Athletic.....

Thank You for the Continued Support!

Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.
