Looks great!

Just save it as Sketchup 8 and import it with Gmax or 3ds Max, I highly recommend you 3ds Max.

It's great to see a thread revived by the author!

JP is right that you can easily import it into 3ds Max. But it would be harder to get something from sketchup into gmax. I don't have sketchup to know what file formats it can import, but I know that gmax can't import very many types of files. This is on purpose because it's free and they wanted to limit its professional use.

Congratulations on graduating.

Thank you both for your comments !  I must admit that it's my frist try with these type of BATs… as you could see in the topic, I always made little BATs, but now that I've more technicity, I can make bigger ones !

Ok then I'll try to save it as a sketchup 8 document. I read somewhere that saving it as .3ds did work too… I'll try ! I want to use 3DS but I had some problems with it few years ago.. my PC is very old (7 1/2 years old, it's a grandpa !) and its graphic card is a bit tired with these big softwares.. and plus, I had problems with BAT4Max too… so I think I'll re-install everything when I'll have more time in end january to try every solution. My project was, when I'll have more money (when I'll work so) to update my hardware and offer my PC a new youth ! But it's not for now  !

And thank you Jasoncw for my graduation but not yet… almost 1 year left :D

Looks great so far. There are not many modern university buildings to SC4, I believe it's going to be very useful :P

Model looks good. But I think that the modeling part is the most easy in BATing. Waiting for the texturing process which is much more difficult in my opinion.

Thank you both. I agree that texturing will be very long on these 2 BATs… I think I'll remake them under GMAX, it'll be easier to me to texture them.

Meanwhile, a french station pack is beginning. It could be part of a special surprise for the end of the year… see if the project will be released ! Otherwise, it'll be updated appart.

So here's the thing ! I begin small, it's been a while I didn't make BATs and it took a little time to readapt my mind to GMAX… :D

Some props will comme with, like benches, automatic distributor, etc. Hope you like it for the moment !

I know I do! There is definitely demand for a modular train station set that would allow us to build many generic stations with a varying number of platform configurations. :)

    Hello everybordy !

First, thank you for the likes and thank you @T Wrecks for the little message, it's really motivating to see it !!
I kept working on the pack, I made platforms, with 6 different 3 textures and 3 different base pieces. So like it's written on the images, there's and end piece, which can be used in the both sides, a middle piece and a middle piece with a walkway, to go through the ways. These pieces are 32m long, so they will be overhanging, made for those you don't want to lot platforms. I just thought about on thing : if you want to plop props on the overhanging part, I have to uncenter them in Gmax right ? Or I can directly merge them into the model, it could be a solution too… If someone can share me the best solution to him, tell me :D

Now, let's images talk for me !

Oh my gosh, this is getting better and hotter with every picture!

You know, I have always dreamt of such a set because it would enable me (and anybody else, of course) to pick any building that might look OK as a train station, add some modular platform props to it, and assemble an endless variety of train stops in this way.

From the technical perspective, I think you'll have to render the props off center in gmax, yes. jestarr has made a few industrial props for harbour docks that are off center by 16, 32, and even 48 m so you could put cargo on a pier that extends onto the water.

It's a good idea to have such props because it enables users to make stations that don't need to be transit-enabled themselves but simply work as transit switches. However, normally centered props also have their advantage: Take the standard rail texture, put generic platforms right and left, add a few vending machines, benches and lamps, don't use any particular station building, and there's your totally generic, universally useable suburban commuter train stop that you can plop down several times in one city without having too obvious repetition.

Wow, that is quite a portfolio! You know, you just might have posted the solution for a little problem I'm having with my current IRM work. I could use one or two more modern I-M buildings, and now I see Mersen and Logé Imprimeur... good to know you got these two up your sleeve! Now I can focus on the candidates I'm really sure about and leave the less convincing BATs aside for a while, knowing that these two buildings from you will come sooner or later. :)

I exported them 8m off center to make them overhanging. I think that's the right solution isn't it ?

I'd disagree, except in very particular cases:

    • If you centre on a lot a centred model, it will overhang anyway. You just adjust the occupant size of the prop.
    • Should you need further offset versions. That's easily done with Model Tweaker or even using RTK4 prop exemplars. In both cases, this reduces the need to render multiple models, one copy is sufficient for as many different offsets as you might require.

It's not a deal breaker, but IMO, centring them makes them easier to place and line up. Not to mention has other potential benefits too.

Nonetheless, great work with these models :thumb:

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Very nice buildings. :) Would suite nicely in my play style. Plus station props will be useful. :thumb: I will fire up my French city again, so these would be useful additions. I would especially welcome wall-to-wall low wealth C$ and R$ buildings.

I cannot say which is better, centred or off centred. I guess it depend on the situation and use.

However, I would vote for HD. I think your models are high quality and would benefit HD treatment.

    Hello everybody ! :8)

A long time passed and many things happened in my life so I didn’t bring news over there. My studies took over SimCity and my real life too… That’s why I didn’t do so much for all this time. But now, for now about 3 weeks, I’m officially graduated ! I’m (almost) an architect. You can’t imagine how happy I could be. After 5 years and a half, my studies are gone. Away. Far away ! And I have all the time I want to make BATs and LOTs now…

So I took the tools in my hands back. Ouch… that hurts. All these letters, these numbers… read-med, installs, props, prop families… but I was happy to see that I did not loose everything and many reflexes came back to me. So so so… Scours, let’s show us what you did, uh ?! Guys… not now, be patient ! But it will come very very soon. I wanted to announce you something too : with Krasner, who’s a talented BATter, we decided to create a new team : the KSTeam. KS for… *drums please*… Krasner+Sciurus. Isn’t it fabulous ? As we began a common project, we’ll continue it together in a common thread. Also, we’ll continue our personal projects in parallel, don’t worry.

For these personal projects, I don’t really have a « fil rouge » like we say in french, a continued line. I fixed no limit. Am I a punk ? Yes. Seriously, I decided to make every BAT I wanted, whatever they doesn’t have anything in common. Maybe they’ll have… they’ll all be situated in France, especially in Nancy, Metz, Longwy or Bordeaux. CHANGING STYLE ! But this is exciting I find. I made a list of what I could do and it’s pretty long… but I don’t want to make you wait a longer time and we begin with something new… the

    Spoiler

    S54 PropPack Vol.1

This prop pack includes 2 files .dat : my own prop pack and a file with prop families made with the wonderful cars from my friend girafe. So it’s a dependency with a dependency. But after that, believe me you’ll be happy !

I’ll upload this PropPack today. It’ll be released on Simtropolis, SC4Devotion and ToutSimCities. Be ready guys !! The revolution is coming ! :bunny:

@Jasoncw Hehehe thank you for everything !! ^^

And now, here's a first picture of my next project : the Palais du Gouvernement in Nancy, France. This building has been built in the end of the XVIIIe century, with the Place Stanislas, the Place d'Alliance and Place de la Carrière. This ensemble was a demand of the duke of Lorraine, Stanislas. It's for now about 35 years in the list of the UNESCO.

The upload will come at the end of the week I think, if I design it speedly enough.

    Now, let's talk the image...

Thank you for your return !
