As I know, all kind of farm-related thing will not exist in this new simcity.

At least not at launch...

We are not even sure if there will ever be a food resource in the unmodded game.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

Will factories or big businesses be able to produce plastic and alloy or do they magically appear when trash is recycled?

Has anybody noticed that painting the zones has changed? Instead of having different sized lots there just square? It's disappointing as a loved the zoning in the first strategy video.

Only in the Agricultural DLC pack. But you will need the Food Market add-on to work.

Maybe if Maxis gets their act together in the near future

Don't forget the $2 stomach DLC to give the sims a reason to need food.

In one post it was said that as you add on to your city hall you get more control over your taxes.

control your taxes in what way?

can we get a "obliterate city" option for the people in Washington?

/politics aside

I am glad that Maxis has always stuck with a simple supply & demand/capitalist system.. it works the best and is the most fun to play.

Town hall only allows you to set a flat tax for everyone. City Hall allows you to set tax rates for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial. The Department of Finances allows you to set tax levels by up to .1% increments for each wealth level. It is all there on the blog.

Hey everybody!

I've been playing the beta and I've found that I am in need of a new graphics card to play this game! I have a Dell Inspiron 531 which is an older computer.

What is the best graphics card for under £60 so I can play simcity on at least medium? (because I have an older computer it would have to be compatible, I believe graphics card slots will have changed.)

Running everything on low is awful.

OS: Windows 8

Processer: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+

Ram: 4GB (DDR2 SDRAM)

Current Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150

The Graphics card you currently have is integrated. That means you would need a low power consuming graphics card that works with a PCI-Express 1.0 x16 slot. Therefore, I would recommend a preowned Geforce GT 450.

Can't say much based on the EULA other than 'I really like it', but I really need more than an hour to form an opinion of the game.

It's ridiculously easy to stay in the black, and there are still a lot of bugs to be worked out which is understandable. I had two suggestions for them so far:

1. There is no windowed fullscreen mode. I have two monitors and like to alt-tab the game to use something like an internet browser on my secondary monitor. Fullscreen minimizes the game and windowed doesn't give me the full experience. Most modern games have this like Starcraft II, and even old games like SimCity 4 were capable of this.

2. There needs to be an undo button. While this function was never in any previous SimCity title, there is no save feature this time around... Anything you do is permanent due to always-online. If I made a huge mistake in earlier titles I would quit without saving... That fail-safe is no longer there.

Everything else I have to say about it has pretty much been said before.

Oh, and based on the what I've experienced in the beta so far, SC13 will need a NAM of it's own. :P

+1 on the full screen window mode, I also run tri monitor setup as well.

Wait until EA introduces microtransactions. You need 100 tons of coal, that'll be $1. Want to add 100 residents to your city, another $1 please.

Did any of you get any interesting disasters in the beta?

Apart from the tornado which you can manually evoke (I believe you need 4 or 6 wind turbines to unlock it) I've heard some reports of people getting the meteor shower (unknown if this is true, though).

Unfortunately I haven't seen it in any of my games so far.

Something that popped up a while ago, but with it popping back to mind after diving in again a bit. The absence of manual saving and the probable necessity of an undo function.

As we know, there is no manual save functionality. There is no quick & easy reverting to a previous version specific to your actions, for example when making placements or working along the density lines to foster density and growth. If you make a mistake, want to make a quick correction or find out you've been roleplaying a mad architect you can't switch back. Well you can, but the timing is incredibly critical due to the automated server side saving. Corrections on a strategic level are not possible, and limited on the tactical or detail level as well.

Am I the only one who still misses the manual save option? Or as an alternative, a common undo option. Sure, it is possible within the game timeline solve mistakes in realtime, but it is a game after all. It's rather common and simplistic functionality.

Turned off all services and got a zombie attack. I've also seen screenshots of earthquakes and UFO sightings.

I feel really dumb, but how do I turn on the grid?

Don't believe you can. I usually just select the road type i want to build, mouseover an existing road to get the guide overlay to show up then create the roads. But I will say, not being able to have an active grid toggle-able is quite frustrating.

I have a new concern that I was thinking about this morning. Is the content in the current beta, including locked content, going to be all that ships with the final product? Feels like its lacking more content but then again, I'm another SC4 w/mods player.

Twisted, so much for the statements of "you only need to be online to start playing". Aside of the savegame functionality putting a torpedo in that, running for 10 minutes without a connection results in a message that the game will be closed :P

As explained before, the current paradigm of the industry is that a game cannot and must not be complete on release. What consumers know as DLC is rapidly and purposely becoming the main revenue stream of the industry. The game itself is a portal to that, an enabler.

But again, do not compare SC4 and SC2013. Different beasts from different times, for different audiences.

I just freakn hope that simcity 2013 wouldn't be like that picture, with all of those filled tiles, that it would have the tiles stay like simcity 4 tiles, and also look realistic as well :I

Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that I got into the SimCity (2013) Closed Dev. Beta.

I can't say more other than I'm in it at this point in time, but I'll keep you posted on any details that emerge!

If you have any concerns about the game that you want to address, let me know and I'll forward it to the developers.

Hi, missed the beta - couple newbie questions...

1. If a city is alone in a region and builds a tourist attraction, are tourists from outside the city still attracted?

2. Does a high wealth or tech building actually bring in more tax revenue than a low wealth / tech one of the same density?
