Nice work Jason, i have always been inspired of your creations, you really are turning out some great stuff. I like the brick texture you use for the latest bat, and the windows look very good. The only question i have for you is what kind of suggestions you have for creating realistic window reflections/textures for buildings, i need some help in that area. Thanks.

Nice building, Jason. Can't wait to see more of it and the police station as well.

I actually added a fire escape in the light well after I posted that. It's kind of dark in there though, so it's hard to see, but at night I'll put some light on it and it will look cool then.

I'll add the ledges on the ground windows. I usually put them there but I didn't this time.

I won't put any ads on the building though, it's supposed to be on the clean side, and there aren't any large blank walls.

I've added a little bit to the roof, but I kind of like the simplicity of it right now, so I don't think I'll add any more big machines.

Thanks everyone, hopefully this will be done very soon, along with the police station (which I haven't worked on since I posted about it).

BTW, congrats Jason on getting an internship at the prestigious Smith Group architecture firm. You should wow them with all this work you've done.

JosefMayor:  I suppose you could.  I didn't actually call the BSP by name though, since I think it's a silly name, heheh.  I didn't put it on at first but the lady at U of M who was handling the resume said to put stuff like that on, so I added it then.  You should probably finish some BATs first though.  3.gif

St. Louis Dude:  I would argue that the 12th Street Riot hurt the city, but I don't think it hurt the city in the way that people usually say it does.  But I think the causes of the riot are the same reasons for Detroit's general decay.

The scope of the riot was eclipsed in scale only by the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Detroit has never fully recovered from the after-effects of the riot and the negative domestic and international media coverage - wikipedia. org

so was it a race riot or what? I mean most of the old decaying houses in the brush park and highland park area were destroyed by fires right? or was it abandonment?

detroit became worse as more and more blacks moved in. detroit was once a good city to live in. not to be racist though but it is the truth

Race pales in importance compared to poverty. Blacks were oppressed in the US and were a poor underclass. Neighbourhoods full of poor and angry individuals aren't going to be successful and are going to cause problems. Attributing this to race ignores all the much more relevant social context.

Detroit has a hill to hike thats for sure. but its really not the big bad city that it used to be. I live in Windsor across the river, and windsor and detroit are like night and day. windsor has little crime, detroit has higher rates, but Detroit is nothing to be scared of and it really is a nice city. Today you can push alot of the blame on any decay in detroit on the lack of North American Auto sales. Detroit wil rise one more time

Okay. maybe you all ought to start a new thread for this conversation - the last time I checked, Jason's BATs were not related to debate of the rise and fall of Detroit. 3.gif
