I really didn't change anything. Just the texture was changed. I tried to add grime by using a grime texture and using it with my brick texture.

The problem can be seen here:

I hope you know what I mean.

Like I said before you really need to finish the modeling, and I think you should have been finished on this model a long time ago. :\

After a "long" break I'm working on a small BAT made by myself. I think it looks really odd. The idea was to make a two-floor office building as a base and and to put an oval building. I had big problems with the windows in the low building caused by mistakes made while extruding. The textures're looking odd and they are unprovided for the final building. They just have been made to forge an opinion.

Something huge is comming, something very huge!

Name of that building is going to be disclosed in the next update.

Feel free to guess the building.

NOTE: Nothing you can see is finished yet.

I actually thought of doing this tower myself, so I studied the shape for a bit. That's why i recognized it immediatly :P. I can tell that your shape is quite a bit off though... There are plenty of floor plans of this building available on the internet. I suggest using one of them as a blueprint and trace the shape from that ;)

ooh well good luck on that one. Should be an awful lot of work :P

I like the shapes of the roof. I hope it will get just as beautiful as the picture in your reply

What modifier do you use for that? Just... awesome. More like astounding, as I can't model round objects despite being able to put all sorts of detail :D

    Another project appeared:

The Citibank Building in New York City.

Its hard to find photos because the name of it seems already to be given to another one. Right now I'm working on the north facade- the last one that needs to be made. I'm sorry about the roof. I had some ugly bugs on the roof. I will do it out of a spline after the whole facade modelling is done.

EDIT: A pic of the real building

gutterblub: I'm still working on most of them, but there are really slow progresses so that some of the projects are cancelled

Finally the whole facade is finished and the roof junk is on the way.

shouldn't you be preparing for the match? Germany against Portugal? We already lost so I'm now cheering for Germany :P. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see some materials on this. No further comments at this point as this is still in a very early stage ;)

Well, it turns out that the match was lousy, so I guess he didn't miss a preparation. :P

Seriously, Citibank is shaping up nicely. It's impressive how deep that roof junk is recessed into the building!

paulvmontfort: I now that it is really hard to say anything about. One problem, as I already said, is that it is hard to find pictures of that building although it's located in Donwtown Manhatten. Furthermore I was advised not to put on any textures until the modelling is finished. All in all it is really hard to get a close look to the roof. Google Earth, Google Street View and Bing Maps helped me a lot. Anyway, til the whole roof is finished, it'll take it's time.

T Wrecks: I'm glad to see that this thread turned attractive for you. Do you mean the building itself or the stuff I made. If you mean the second of the mentioned I'm really happy you think so.

As I already said, I'm getting in trouble with the roof. Added to this I had some exhausting weeks the last time and didn't have any time to continue batting. Right now I'm trying to find something comparable to Googe Earth to get a closer look to the facade and the roof. I hope you will keep visiting and commenting up. And at last but not least I would like to ask you to give improvement suggestions so I'm able to improve the building and my knowledge abot §ds Max and poly modelling. Thanks you for your attention! :read:

One of our members of NYBT had all ready recreated the Citibank Building all ready. Of course more variety is welcome. :) If you wish, you could check out his recreation to get a good idea of it. His name is darknono35 if you want to look it up on the STEX.

If you need some pictures, I'm sure Emporis.com has plenty, just search the building or its address.

Sgt Pepper: Thanks, I really didn't know this buildings is already existing. However, I decided to finish this building. I just would be a shame to stop cancel this building although the progress is very advanced.

Anyway, I have finsihed the roof. I had some ugly glitches that could be fixed by putting some segment between them. I hope you like it.

Looks great, I think you need some noise on the glass. Can you show me a picture and a google map link to this building to see what else need to be done on it?

Just to make sure what we are actually talking about: Is the window glass a texture with the blurred image of a city? Or is it a reflective material that reflects a ground plane, and this ground plane is textured with that blurred image of a city?
