ok some recomendations..

1) make a landfill, that attracts comercial
2) NEVER let dirt industries build in ur city... I always put the highest tax rate for that they dont construct.

but its residential part its very good, well done3.gif

Thanks for the advice mate, but I'm building my suburbs on the regional Australian model where dirty industry is often very close to residential developments. The garbage is very annoying though, I tried to to dump all my regions waste in one landfill and it worked for a while but is starting to get out of hand. I hate having to zone landfills in every little town, is there a mod that reduces garbage or something?

An Australian Model?

Perhaps in the 1960's or 70's.

If it was an Australian Model there would be lots more courts and winding roads in the residential areas.

It's quite hard making winding roads in SC, considering there is only 2 angles to lay them on.

I think my region captures the essence of a nAustralian style metro area.

@cee_em_bee - Have you tried the NAM?  It has a diagonal street mod that allows you to lay streets on a diagonal.  It might help you in your recreation.

rhino

EDIT: disregard, I went back to look at your images again and you have diagonal streets...sorry.

Actually the downtown is quite big, it just looks a bit deceptive from the region view, I'll start a city journal for it and you can check it out for yourself.

The city of Neo Arcadia is simply into two sections, the downtown and the suburbs, that's why the population is only around 10k. Well here's its suburbs.

I try to make suburbs, but then the RCI bars start whispering to me, more people...we demand more people...

Next thing I know I'm zoning Hi Density Res in huge blocks... 45.gif

Very cool aleking, I must say, doesnt a city of that size, make your PC lag like shizzle??
Already checked out your CJ Yesterday.
Let's see, here are a couple of pics from my english cities(pure UK)
First, the actual suburbs.
simcityuk1.bmp

Next, the High wealth and Medium wealth areas on the border of the inner city and the outer areas.
simcityuk2.bmp

Finally, the inner city, still working on it, have to get the Hi,Med,Lo wealth going(I have too many medium wealth people, so they keep going jobless, have to get the proportions right.
simcityuk3.bmp

Hope more people decide to go UK(its a lot better than the normal SC4)

Storms991, I like the look of your low res homes.  I have trouble keeping my zones from growing together.  for example if I have the following:

S=street
R=res

SRRS
SRRS

then I will sometimes get a 2x2 lot instead of four 1x1 lots.  this is annoying for me which is why i put the tree fillers inbetween my lots.

good work though, thanks for posting.

Well, soldye, I use the tileset mod, which doesnt allow and Maxis buildings to grow in my city, I have seen your CJ and you use Maxis buildings a lot. Those are the default low wealth homes in my version of simcity. Thanks for commenting.

Awsome suburbs people! I'm still working on mine and they're moving pretty slowly. Thanks for some great planning ideas though! I'm definitly going to use some of them. 19.gif

Another thing: I have been trying to go UK on my downtown but so far, all I've found are the high street stores. Does anyone know of any UK like buildings in the BAT files? And if so, could you tell me a key word for it? Thanks. 41.gif
