Welcome back to Green Depra, this is update 31!

    Update-31.jpg

Thanks for all the gracious comments, I hope you all enjoy this update!

Today, we are looking at... Canilla!

    Base-City-Canilla2.jpg

Canilla has been going through even more changes, the streets are busy, the houses are high, and the farms are being pushed aside. The colourful streets are alive with residents, just moved from the nations of Red and Gold Depra. Small apartments have been popping up all along the streets, and the country folk of Canilla don't like it. Their freight trucks have been forced to cross through the main town, causing problems both for them and the residents. For the first time in Green Depra there was a large traffic jam along its red streets. An overturned truck, which tipped while trying to navigate through peak hour traffic, had caused the problem. The lord is looking into an alternative rout to be set up for the farmer's freight.

Green Depra's water doesn't come out of this air, and after the recent population boom the reservoir in Fur Hills just couldn't produce enough water, there was a proposal put to the Parliament to see it expanded. The Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats backed it, but the Greens and the Green Socialists voted against it on the ground that it would be devastating to the surrounding environment. Finally they decided upon building a new one at the base of Canilla Hill to collect the runoff water from there. It was named Micah Reservoir, and is the largest in Green Depra.

(My first attempt at using Canals!)

And Canilla Primary School is regarded as the best in all Green Depra, and is known for its great sports program.

(I just love deadwoods schools, they are really realistic!)

But there are some places in Canilla, which just can't change from the country Canilla style. This area, is more suburban and hosts the best JB Hi-Fi in all the Depra's. The frieght rail runs right through this small town, and it was decided to make it sunken for the sake of resident's safety.

Finally, to the very south of Canilla is the beautiful Fabio Street, the commercial hub of this small residential area. Its a tiny bit more built up than the surrounding area.

    -------------------------

This was my first update using the new simtropolis! 39.gif Its doesn't have html, but its still good, and now its even easier to use!  I had a few technical dificalties at first, but I think its sorted now.  I made the decision to remove the banners from my images, apart from the openers, I thought it was a bit much and unnessisary really.  Thanks everyone!

Brilliant update, looks absolutly fantastic, brilliant mossaics, very bright and livid images!. The reservoir looks excellent.

I too love Deadwood's schools (in fact I love everything hes done) and I have created custom versions of them, transit enabled them etc. I use them for about every school I do, due to their Aussie feel (that I so desperatly need!)

Anyway, brilliant, beautiful, fantastic, What more can I say?

This is quite the region you've built here!  Looks fantastic.  Generally speaking, I have to admire the forethought of the city planners in keeping so much green space.

The reservoir is a particuarly cool touch.  It makes the basic pump stations look less out of place than normal.

Anyhow, keep up the fantastic work!

Omigosh, well done Choco! I like the mosiac you've created, and most importantly, the mix of colourful buildings and brick-red streets in your CJ! Awsome job and I can't wait for the next update! 2.gif

Now that traffic jam is quite a formidable one ... gee - it really goes around all corners. So - how are you faster there: by foot or by car? 47.gif

I like that water reservoir, too. Actually whenever I place PEG's pond kit as a river (I must confess I haven't used kanal tiles for quite a while ...15.gif ) I like to place the normal ingame water pump like you did!

Great work with PEG's trails and deadwoods school. Though how could you place that small refreshing bar so far away from any streets? As far as I know it needs road access??? 46.gif

The sunken railway looks good together with Jeroni's new walls but I must confess for any kind of sunken trafficways I prefer the old ones together with Buddybud's overpasses... look just better. A hint: If it is okay with the context of your area put the railway on a dam and use JayStimson's Trestles. Place trees on the flanks of the NAM (I love PEG'S seasonal woods not only for this purpose!) and you really have a nice realisitc eyecatcher which is also goo for separating different areas in your town!

    Great update my friend!

I have no idea why I haven't replied yet... I saw you post about the fact you were in Melbourne, and I saw your update yesterday but DIDN'T POST??? 15.gif

Well, here I am now!  So let's start at the beginning, shall we? 48.gif

I like your little storyline about the country folk not liking to drive through down, the traffic jam (complete with picture) and the fact that the Chancellor is looking in to it... a little blurb like that gives all your beautiful pictures some life!  And as always... stunning contrasts of BEAUTIFUL colors and original layout is what Green Depra is known for. 25.gif

Absolutely awesome work on that reservoir!  It looks really realistic!  Enough said. 10.gif

The picture with the school... is unclear... 46.gif  I only see two soccer fields, and then the town again... is the little red corner of a building on the right the school?  If so, could you show us another pic?  Otherwise, that little pedestrian bridge is very intriguing and fits well... where did you get it? 1.gif

Next picture... I love the JB Hi-Fi, 18.gif looks good, and also the bluish apartment building on the bottom right... it works really well with the surrounding houses. 19.gif

In the next picture, I noticed that Tudor BAT with the very tall and pointy roof (middle of the photograph), and the mansion just below it with the three community gardens... where did you get those? 4.gif

Finally, a shot of your main street, I believe... 36.gif slightly redeveloped (the taller building that sticks out) and the apartment buildings... it gives it a nice, final, touch.

Great work Choco you've made your first update on ST 5.0 memorable! 39.gif16.gif

EDIT: I just realized this was quite the rant... hope you have fun replying! 17.gif

    Choco,
Now that's the most original use I've seen so far of a canal set!
This water reservoir thing is really something!
The school setup is really inviting!
The mosaics as usual are perfect, I particularly like that mansion with the three gardens AND THE SUICO FENCES!
Mate, this was worth the wait!
    Keep it up!
P.S. Glad to have you back!

Frigid, those are the Trail Parks from Pegasus. Just search for "Peg Trail Park" on the STEX and you shall find it.

And Chocolatemax, that last update was terrific as well. It's amazing how the red streets combine with the rest of the city to create an outstanding effect. If the streets were all the regular grey colour, I doubt this region would have gotten as much attention.

Go ChocolateMax! I think the new truck route should be a RHW highway like the rest of Green Depra's truck routes. The problem is that the road junction looks bad. For RHW-to-RHW crossings, I turn the RHWs into avenue. That should help. You are number 1 on Simtropolis!

HELPFUL TIP; Hey choco, I can see that in Update 21, that celebration thing[ actually, it was wildly SUPER] you used several of the real world's favourite bands; Coldplay, Pink Floyd, etc.If you are doing more concerts, use more bands [for poularity]. Also, I suggest that if you really want to make the place green, to use the Grass Lands Terrain Mod.

    Evening all! Time for....

    Update-32.jpg

And today, we are moving away from Canilla and taking a peak at...

    Base-City-Wilminkton.jpg

The beautiful tourist town which was named after its founder Nik-Nik.

One of the most overlooked parts of Wilminkton is its swamps... the large collection of seaside swamps spread out on the water. Its a favorite place for Blue Depra imagrants who want to fish and enjoy the lake atmosphere. After word of this area spread, the amount of Blue Depra imagrants increased, with promise of fish Blue Depra style with the lush greenery of Green Depra. They couldn't resist...

Cowcorn Thanks for the comment and I'm glad that you liked it.

Simworld 056132 Thanks for opening page 27 and for your comments! Ah, life forever, nicely said!

Threestooges Hey! I'm glad you liked the comeback mate! Hehe, I couldn't help throwing in the snail story, I guess its my odd sense of humour!

Lakeyboy Thanks, I think I have turned many people around on the red streets, I think a lot of people couldn't stand them at the start. I personally love them, so I'm glad you think they are an essential part of Green Depra. Photoshop is a brilliant tool, and I am finding many places for your fantastic Green Depra signs! Thanks again for them!

Haha, what a coincidence! Haha, Hungry Jacks, one of my friends ended up in a video store for the week! I am not looking forward to those long terms, but I guess I should just enjoy this time now! I hope you do get to go, I'm going next week to some athletics finals, it would be a great experience. Although probably not as good as one would think! Yeah, I'm waiting out for that blog system too, I think it sounds awesome! Although dirk did say the main page would be done by now, so I'm not sure if that will be on time either. But he's sick so Its not really his fault. I haven't played much recently either, just enough to keep updates coming out.

I know what you mean about installing things and the annoyingness of cables, I just installed a DVD drive myself, although that's a lot easier than a hard drive! I watch all new Simsons, and lost! Although I've never gotten into Prison Break, I've always been a fan of house myself! But, what are you going to do.

I look forward to seeing MP on the new system, cheers mate!

Magpieshooter Thanks mate, glad you liked the mega-mosaic. You can't go past Deadwoods schools, they are my main school of choice now, just can't say no! Thankyou very much for your gracious comments mate. It's a shame you're not coming to Melbourne, but I guess you can watch them from the comfort of your own home!

Sloppet Thanks for all the enthusiastic comments sloppet! Thanks. And well, I hope they don't ban me! That wouldn't be too fun!

Bat Congradulations on your 100th post! Woot! Its an honour to have it in my CJ! Thanks for all your comments mate.

Dr. Frickenstein Thankyou very much for your comments, I'm glad you liked Canilla and my comeback. Cheers.

Jacqulina Thankyou very much Jacqulina for your many kind words of encouragement.

MadTV_Freak Hehe, Welcome to Green Depra! I really hope that you enjoy it! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it. Hope to see you around again soon!

Cityhawk Hopefully it will! Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the update. Thanks mate!

KoolSIM Thanks! I'm glad that you liked the mosaics, and welcome to my Cj!

justanothersim86 Hehe, I have an unhealthy obsession with contrast I think! Wow, that's such a high compliment, thankyou very much! Cheers mate, choco.

ElmarO Thanks Elmar, I was very happy with how the freeway turned out, I appreciate your comments! Cheers.

CDI_spy CDI!!! I missed you! 18.gif Thanks, I thought that traffic jam needed a little explanation. Oh damn it! You just reminded me that I forgot to include an overview of the school, which explains the soccer fields, I will include it this update! Thanks for picking up on that. The bridge is one of jeronij's, he has a whole pack
right Here.https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?keyword=Assorted%20Pedestrian%20Overpasses Hmmm, It's a clinic, and quite a nice one I think, and can be downloaded Here.

Hehe, well actually that isn't the main street we've seen before! But I just realised it looks exactly like it! Ha! Its more to the east of Canilla, I should probably show more overview, but I don't like showing them because I don't think they look as good! Maybe I should just bite the bullet and do it! For the sake of the viewers. Thankyou very much for the long rant, I love reading rants! And for the many compliments, and Cezarest is looking fantastic by the way! The images are really superb. Cheers mate!

baller23 Thanks, I appreciate your comments mate!

Tracker That's a great idea tracker! I will do that, and I will have an update featuring that. I didn't even think of using RHW, but it really makes sence now! You're right about the euro mod, unfortunately I'm doing the stupid thing and keeping both! I can't help it though, I couldn't bare loosing either, so I'll have to live with it I guess. Thanks for the comments, cheers.

USA Patriot Great to see you back, I appreciate your comments! I found that font by searching Old English font on Google, I couldn't give you the exact site sorry, but good luck!

Jasoncw Ah, the first post in the new forums! How exciting, thanks! I was quite happy with how the end of the highway turned out, of course it would have been nothing without Lakeyboy's freeway signs.

1dera3 Hehehe, thanks! Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment.

Micah Hey micah! Thanks for your comments. I appreciate your support. The new system was a bit of a shock, pimply because when you do something, you're not sure what the result is going to be! I hope you enjoy my future updates.

Fabiocb Thankyou very much for popping by so much and leaving such gracious comments mate. And I hope to surprise you many more times! Haha, maybe even with this update! Thanks for your support mate.

Darmok Hey John! Thanks, I didn't want my first use of the Canal set to be something uninteresting and normal! So I made a reservoir! Thanks, I LOVE THOSE FENCES! They are fantastic! Very useful, and I'm using them on all my farms, as you'll see in future updates! Thanks for the comments and support mate, very uplifting! How you keep such regular updates on Anduin Valley is beyond me! Cheers.

Frigid Thanks for the comment, and welcome to the CJ! Glad you liked it. Those are PEGs trail park lots. Can be found Here.

Battlecat Thankyou! Yeah, Green Depra's planners are second to none at reserving green space! Its actually a law passed by parliament, that maximum preservation and greenery options must always be undertaken.

sim1234 Thanks, I wasn't sure if I could pull the canals off in a place like Green Depra, but I'm glad you think it worked okay! I did feel bad about putting a reservoir in such an environmentally friendly nation though! Hehe, Thanks for the comments.

storms991 Hey storms, thanks for the comments. Although I'm not sure what you meant by "going simcity 4 UK" sorry!

Mikeaut1 Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked it so much! Thanks for popping by, congratulations on your employee of the month! It's a great achievement, and I read your interview, very interesting indeed.

rooker1 I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for the beer! A fresh serving of images is on the way, just for you!

Terrymunweihao Thanks, glad you liked it so much, I've been lurking in your CJ recently, and its really becoming a fantastic piece of work!

Nardo69 Hey Bernhard, I haven't seen you around for some time, good to see you! I think foot might actually be faster for once! Yeah, I like the look of the in-game pump, but I don't think it looks realistic unless there is something near by to pump! Hehe, The refreshing bar is for the kids playing soccer, and as far as I know it doesn't need any road access.

Yeah, I like Jeronij's old ones too, but I also love these new ones, and I think they bring a different feeling than the old ones, a more unique feeling. I have played around with JayStimon's overpasses before, but it didn't feel right for that area, but I have used them in other places so you will see them in future updates! Thanks for the comments mate, cheers!

Rocketoink Hey! Welcome to the CJ and thanks for the tips. If I have another concert, which I might if I ever hit page 50, then I'll use plenty of bands! Thanks. I have tried out the Grass-Lands mod, and I don't like it very much, I think I'll stick with the Columbia mod, because that is the most green, beautiful and most detailed mod I've seen around. Thanks for popping by.

Mambomumba Excellent! As I was saying before to Lakeyboy, I'm really happy about being able to change people's perceptions of the Red Brick mod, because I know many people hated it to start with. Welcome to GD, and thanks for the comment.

Goldfish4209 Hey goldfish! Great to have you back again! That's a great idea, I will download that soon, thanks for the link! The big brown aquares of the rail-lines have always annoyed me, and its great to see PEG has come up with a solution. Its quite a nice texture too. Thanks for your comments, cheers, choco.
PS. Do you think you could remove the quote please? Its kinda annoying there, thanks! 9.gif

Goin2Chicago Hey! Welcome to the CJ, I'm glad that you like it. Cheers. 2.gif

Thanks everyone for your comments! New update maybe after the weekend, I hope you all enjoyed this one, sorry for the delay on the Personal Comments.

    Cheers, choco.

After a few stuff ups with gaps between the pictures, I've figured it out now!  Phew! 18.gif
