1. & 2. Well here you can see that 1 is a bit longer than the 2, so you'll need to adjust that;

3. as I tried to point out, wall are a bit longer there, basically, every wall extends to the end of the terrace above it. and that goes for both front and back, that's why I've put numbers on both sides.

4. well here, if you pay attention, you'll see balconies that extend from the base and line up with balconies on the tower itself.

5 well here, I see that bing is blurred, but that part should be like very straight, without that tilted overhanger, that must have been added to keep the rain out of deteriorated concrete slab. I'll check this again and let you know.

6. hahahah I don't have a 6 :))

7. that part there don't have terraces, it connects to the ground actually and you can approach the stores on that level,

8. That level is too much, it doesn't really exist

9. the top floor of the base on the back should line up with the last floor on the front part of the base. I painted in orange the difference that is too much.

oh and I just wanna add that you're doing amazing job on this one and I really appreciate it. It's such a complex structure with many elements and you really don't have that many reference photos to help you out. This will be the one of the starts on the stex

Here is an update... Vlasky, I have made a few of the changes so far that you have mentioned. I will be keeping the lower garage level in to compensate for the lot not designed to be on a slope, as the real building is.

    sideview-1.jpg

    frontview-1.jpg

The staircase in the front is just an idea i was messing around with, but may be one possible solution to the leveling problem that is present with the building not being designed for a slope. How does it look? Any ideas on the entrance?

I think if you eliminate 1 or 2 floors from the base you can then add a bridge with a stair access with only few steps at the end. Another solution I can think of is to simply get rid of the bridges... The ideal solution would be to make it a sunken lot, something like Girafe did with his CB21 tower maybe you can replace the back walls for a hill of grass or something.

Courtesy of Gutterclub, I have been able to get a test export into the game.

    test.jpg

The model still will need to be slightly sunken, but I will get to that. It looks to me like it may be a little to wide, but what do you think?

    Quick update:

I have begun to texture the building and roof junk.

    render1-2.jpg

    roof.jpg

Ignore all the super colorful stuff in the first photo, that has not been textured obviously. How do the textures look so far? Feedback is greatly appreciated :)

Good start on the textures! :thumb:

But the last render is'nt very useful to give us an idea of the final result.

Cockatoo: I do. This is the first time I have rendered in this close of a view, the blurry textures on the side of the building have since been fixed.

I have done some work on the small details of the building, such as awnings, AC units, etc.

    render2.jpg

It is not as "dirty" looking as I want it to be though. Any suggestions?

Also, I will still need to duplicate these effects on the lower balconies of the model, but should I add more things to these balconies? If you look at the pictures, this building is very busy. But will adding more make it too busy for the game? Please give your opinion

I wasn't planning on making it dilapidated, just closer to the real building than it currently is.

    A quick update:

I haven't had time to work on this model in a while but I had a few minutes to add details:

    render1-3.jpg

    render2-1.jpg

    render-8.jpg

I am essentially done modeling and texturing the building. The bottom part I will do after I see how it looks in lot editor, lest changes need to be made. Think the details and the model overall look good enough to begin nightlighting and lotting?

EDIT: I want to add a park-like thing to the bare spot on the top of the lower level. What is the easiest way to go about adding foliage in-game? I have never done this before.

I'm not quite sure about the side windows texture, they look a bit off. But apart from that, it's rather nice.

Wow. Finally found time to work on the model a little more. Night time!

    night1.jpg

    night2.jpg

Again...ignore the bottom parking lot part, still trying to figure out what to do with that. Anyone know where I can get a good parking lot texture? And what do you think about the lights?

You should be able to extract the games parking textures somehow. Also Simfox released some Maxis BAT4MAX textures, you could edit one of them?

    Looking good, keep it up

Are these files on the STEX? I looked through SimFox's files via the profile content file, and did not see anything for Maxis textures.

Would anyone like to take the time to lot this for me? The model is not showing up in my LotEditor, no matter how many different categories i try in the plugin manager. Working 60 hours a week, I simply do not have the time to fiddle with it, and I would really like to get the model released. Anyone up for the challenge? :golly:

I can do it again, I'm not too great at modding but I can get a basic growable lot? There are others who are better skilled for this task but if you do need it lotting I can.

Modding is not to hard if it's not NAM related, to make good growable lot you can always use the SC4 devotion PIM it does most of all the moding for you, now you may not get it to run if you have Windows 7 PC that haves been up dated with SP1, but there is a fix for that. :)

    SC4 PIM:

    https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2260

    SC4PIM New Properties XML Update:

    https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2265

    Fix:

    https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14216.0

Using the PIMX is the most proper thing to use when making the desc. and lot files for Sim City 4. :D

To me I think the building is still not finished. I would love to see another render.

I could also help out. My guess is the problem is rather simple, though: the LODs (which determine the dimensions of the building box for the Lot Editor) are probably slightly above a certain number of tiles, so the lot you try to use to place the building on probably needs to be bigger than you expect. There's a workaround, though.

Anyway, just gimme a holler if you think you need some help.
