Actually, I've been planning to make intersections with turning lanes for RHW x road/ave/etc... So I think it's wiser to leave that like it is and work on the one I just mentioned. I will begin work on it right now.

I didn't have the ability to change it in the first place, because that would require changing the traffic exemplar. Which would mean I would need a trillion optional plugins for all the NAM variations available for traffic.

But now I might change it a bit...I dunno.

Welcome to the club. 2.gif When I created the original diagonal streets mod, using the ANT plugin, I had to edit the traffic plugins to adjust the values the ATN would behave like streets. I edited about a handful of plugins (the basic ones), and then decided to write a short tutorial how to edit all those custom plugins that might be out there. I'm not sure if someone ever used my mod, since Teirusu released the semi-draggable diagonal streets as they are included in the NAM now shortly afterwards, but since this project is somewhat independent from the NAM as well, It couldn't hurt to include that tutorial instead of manually changing all available plugins and package them with the mod.

I used your mod and I loved it. Then teritsu of course made the diagonal street RULes and naturally stopped using the ANT one.

And just one question, i'm not sure if this has been answered before or not but is it possible to add the ANT to the transportation map? That would be really handy because I'm using them more and more in my cities and I don't know where they are when I look at the trans map view. Thanks.

swordstalker2008: A new version of what?? Well, I can't get to the site either. Unfortunately I can't fix that...noone is the site manager. If you need to [re]download the mod, use Zeddic's mirror (could you post a link, Zed? I haven't got it.) Otherwise, there wasn't anything on the site you couldn't find elsewhere.

lakeyboy: I've been working on it. But I'm only finding dead ends. Though I've formulated a lot of potential loopholes...ugh I don't even know what I'm saying. How about I haven't figured it out yet

dandaman83188: Really? Pulling your eyes out? I wouldn't recommend that in the situation that eventually we make some really cool interchanges that would be hard to appreciate without eyes. But to answer your question: the symbolism in Geoffrey's statement also foreshadows Jamie's affair with him and resulting suicide. I mean: when we get to it.

homer2: Yeah, RHWxRHW. But they are prolly going to be puzzle pieces in the style of intersections. More on that eventually.

    Hmm, a request or two...

First, could that one-way exit be modified into an exit that joins with a parallel frontage road? I.e., instead of becoming the one way road, it would merge with a one way road that was already there.

Second... How much work would it take to make that same exit for normal ground highway? We have it for elevated, but not for ground....

Right, you can get the RHW by clicking here . Where ever noone is, he'd better try to fix the site. This is starting to get annoying...

As for those requests, Keiran Halcyon. At least for the texturing, it should be quite easy to do that for RHW. Qurlix knows better than me if it's hard to code or not. But to get it for ground highway, I have no idea. I'm only working with RHW, not the whole NAM. In any case, ground highways require 3D models for exits and are harder to create.

And intersections. I have a pretty good version of the turning lanes ready, but due to RHW's splittable nature it's not too easy to make feasible solutions for some junctions. So it will take some time to make textures for all of them.

Hein, sorry 'bout the site troubles... you kind of forget things after a while. Guess I shouldn't've been starting to change things during a study-break during exams week...

Still haven't got a new PC either, so not much (in other words, absolutely no) progress on my part.

The site, though, is back online. I think I have the best setup possible right now, considering my ISP goes to great means to stop people from having servers in their bedrooms... once I get a commercial site I'm developing done, I'll fix that...

The best link for the site : http://rhwmod.digital-serv1.dnsalias.com:81/

Hopefully this helps for the people trying to download the MOD. Sorry again for forgetting about it.

Yes, there will be a new NAM out featuring the RHW (with only one button) eventually. But it's only been asked 734 times, not a thousand.

Hard to code? Anything is possible nowadays. Except putting lots into TAB loops. That is definitely impossible. And adding tilesets. That is also impossible. Just some notes for noobs.

Glad you got the site back up. We won't really need it too much after next release, maybe for news and updates?

I hope you can figure out who (whom?) each of those paragraphs go to. I'm too lazy to make titles.

Fantastic updates. I'm so glad you are coming out with these new pieces! Are they in the download? (I'm wondering because I have already downloaded back in late December... should I update my mod?)

    @ Nooneatall,

thanks for the link, I tried to use the RHW, but the connections with other traffic ways (roads, streets, avenues, oneway roads and highways) make the RHW looks strange, well anyway thanks and this is sure an awesome project, I'll keep my eyes on this.

Micah: No, the new releases are not up. The website still only has version 12 (the original). Most likely, version 15 (the next one) will be in the next NAM release as an optional plugin.

Nathan and Caledon Hockley: Yeah we are. But I can't say how long, that's just how it goes.

Fabiocb: Yeah, streets are the only ones with matching intersections in v12. The next one should have a lot more though. Assuming someone sends me some textures. (I see all this cool stuff in the thread, but my inbox? empty! at least send me testing copies guys...I don't care how rough it is!)

@frigid While looking through the description of that Transit Supermod, it seems that all of its functions are nowadays included in the NAM. So just remove that (very old) mod you have and install NAM. You need it to get RHW to work, since it relies on ANT, which is included in the NAM as well. Or if you have NAM already, then at least remove your old mod. I bet they conflict with each other, seeing that they alter same things in the game.

I know that this is not the best place to post these questions, but here goes:

    What is the ANT?
Are there any mods/lots that use the dirt street to make an additional transportation system and/or conflict with the ANT and/or the RHW?

    Also, what does $%&^! mean?

Thanks for taking your time to reply.

The ANT (Additional Network Tool) and the dirtroad are the same thing. It was a road tool left incomplete by Maxis. Luckily some people from this community figured out how to reactivate it, and now it is available to people who use the NAM (Network Addon Mod). The NAM makes it look like a normal road, but have twice the capacity. Zones cannot grow on it however.

You can (normally) only have one type of tool installed for the ANT at one time. Right now the only existing tool, other than the double capacity road in the NAM, is the RHW (Rural HighWay Tool). The RHW, however, was designed to let you use both the NAM's road-like ANT and the new highway tool. In the past there were also mods that made it into diagonal streets and other experimental networks, but they were all depreciated (cancelled).

Lastly, $%&^!, the same as the older term newb, is short for newbie. It means someone who has just started doing something, like join a website or playong a videogame. If someone is acting noobish it generally means they are asking simple or redundant questions. Many members use the term as an insult, but remember there is nothing wrong with being new to something. Everyone has to start somewhere.2.gif
