vester_DK : well, it seems great minds think alike. Too bad I never thought of this... 18.gif
That style of transition would be useful, I think... wow, I better get started on texturing again...

Also, not for this release, we eventually plan to make a Euro-version of the MOD. Myself, I try to design the textures so that I can easily-enough change the textures. I'm sure that Zeddic tries to keep this in-mind as well.

ardecila, like ryan said, we basically need an interchange modeller, and probably a versitile/ anything modeller if we can find one. Our biggest need, however, is still interchanges.

Have been thinking about it. If the transition from two to one lane is not at the corner but at the diagonal piece, maybe it could be made as a puzzle piece. I will return later, 2 hours or so with a pictures.

If it can't be done I will post that as well.

just curious, i know that railroad crossings arent something you find on roads like these, but there are a few times ive seen grade crossings on roads like these, and those types have a gantry over the road with flashing lights on them and that would be a cool thing to have to be somewhat realistic for one of these as a business route going thru some little town.

Just an idea for a future release.

I have rearrange the transistion, so it fits in tight with 4 puzzle pieces:
rhw-puzzlepieces12.png
I know it's tight but that's the limits of the game.

The blue lines are the border of the squares.

EDIT:
I could not stop myself and did this:
rhw-puzzlepieces21.png
(Just 3 min. more work)

With just one more puzzle piece the other transition can be done.

Know they are rough, but I hope you get the picture. 2.gif
Got the inspiration from the GLR mod, when I think about it afterwards.

    hamsterTK: Do you mean like this? (See bottom) You can have a GLR piece too! This will be in version 1, but crossing gates on the rail intersection will have to wait until the next release.

    vester_DK: Those are pretty good textures, especially for not having the diagonal RHW textures. I don't think we need to make them into puzzle pieces... (See top) ...and I think we can even do the transition automatically, too.

    cool.since these are supposed to be sort of like interstates i was worried that railroad crossings werent going to be put in. So, since this is a new road type, maybe you'd consider new crossing gates?

    here is one that might look appropriate for these roads:

    I just had a thought while perusing this topic. It's going to be a 4 lane highway (2 on a side) instead of 6. And in a rural setting no one is worried about space management so why is everyone stuck on the transitions looking and behaving like that of the avenues? Why not just put more green space between the lanes? Like a big culvert or lights or something. If it was designed so the left lanes (US) in each direction disappeared and turned into green space it would be a much smoother transition than the Oh no it's a sharp 45 degree turn at 70 MPH!!!!!
    I like what you guys have done so far I just haven't seen this idea posted and wanted to get it out there.

    Here's a very rough picture of what I'm talking about:

    Yes, but if quirlx had decided to do that you couldn't have a customizable length between the lanes which you can have with this. 2.gif

    ...and the 45 degrees turn is also on the normal highways. That just the world of the game. If you should do a smoother turn, I think you need to do it with puzzle pieces. This version you just drag the rhw around the turn....

    Well, qurlix might live in Alaska, and might not post until midnight Alaska Time (which will be some time on Tuesday for everyone else.)So if qurlix does live in Alaska, and you live in New Zealand, then expect to wait a bit longer.

        Anyway, I am looking forward to this RHW. How fast will the automata and commute times be in MPH and compared with avenues, though?

    I don't know for sure but I believe it will be similar to regular highways.

    EDIT: Sorry for being so cruel to you for posting and having this on the Recent Replies list thinking it's been released...11.gif I'm sorry! 8.gif

    Where will this be found when uploaded? Will it be in Modding Files or on the STEX?

    Well, right now (unless the team has made a very sudden and unseen change of heart), we are planning on releasing it on the RHW Website. I'm putting some final touches on it; just waiting for the readme and a few other things from qurlix, and then the final file, then we'll post the link.

    It seems like a good idea, to me at least, considering everything is in the alpha/ beta stage of development; there is no sense in putting something that we'll be updating on the STEX/ modding files.

    Hope this answers your question.

    qurlix : are you planning on adding the RHW networks to the regional transport map ? I think that, for now anyways, we should add it in normal highway colours. Besides that, it seems to draw better than before... I'll go back to testing it again...

    I have had a look at a few of the times of day that Qurlix usually posts and it ranges from 5pm up to midnight so even if it's a day or two off, don't worry. He is probably tweaking it to get rid of possible bugs which then makes the experience better for you guys. So give him a break. He will post it when it's ready.

    I in the meantime, have been editing some RHW Transition textures that were posted up here and have made them so that they are RHW 4 Lane - 2 Lane Highway Transitions. Here are the textures. All are actual size:
    <ahttp://img375.imageshack.us/img375/9421/2lane4lane19mh.png align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img375.imageshack.us/img375/9430/2lane4lane29xq.png align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img375.imageshack.us/img375/632/2lane4lane33hy.png align=baseline>

    I hope these textures can be made into good use either via RUL coding or puzzle pieces to appear in the game.

    Well, as a member of the team, I'll take that as a compliment. Thank you, chocolatemax. I guess the release date has been put a bit forward, since there are some problems with getting it to work correctly (RUL files etc.) I only got the team version yesterday, and it definitely has some bugs. I was asked to not post any pictures of it, so you people have to wait for just anything about RHW a little more. I guess everything always takes more time than was supposed. It's annoying... 34.gif
