From what I've heard, SCS was SimCity 5, in the fact that it was the 5th SimCity to come out. But from my, and other people's, viewpoint, SCS is NOT SimCity 5. SimCity 4 is better than it, which is a bad sign, because a successor is usually better than it's predecessor. For example, SimCity 4 has WAY more transportation options, as well as the fantastic zoning system. Plopping can be fun, but just plopping alone is not good enough to build a realistic city.

If SimCity 5 did come out, it should at least be like SimCity 4, but with better 3-D graphics (one of the good things of SCS), an overhauled transportation system (more realistic highways, dedicated lanes, native TRAM system, larger airport, bus stops that don't occupy space on the side of the road), and a quicker game overall. Also, we should get the option if we want to build cities in a region, or if we want to build one large city, like SimCity 3000. And to top it off, if we want to build a region, we should be allowed to choose the size and shape of the cities. That would be my perfect SimCity 5.

But if you want to give your opinions effectively, be the head of departmeny of EA at least.

Work hard and be the head of department of EA then.

unfortunately, EA has not released an statemnts regarding the creation of a Simcity 5, we're stuck with what we got for now, as there do not seem to be any plans in revivng the simcity genre.

lets face it a petitions are not worth the paper they are written on, or in this cease the site they are posted on, if you wont SimCity 5 then you will have to prove to game companies that people will acutely buy that game. Not just "say" they won't the game, and unfortunately the two last CB games SCS and CXL haven't been box offices smash hits. Wile I think CXL is a good game, many people don't. Game companies can make SC5, witch people may or may not like, or they can make anther brainless shooter games that will probably sell more copies and get them more money, put your self in the CEOs shoes, if you don't make as much money as possible you get the flick.

Well, there is a petition asking EA to release a simcity 5. I think it is not neccessary, but if there was one, here are the things I would want:freecamera, and a reinstallment of the u-drive it(I love it soooooooooooooooooo much).

I have heard from an internet source awhile back that there would be another interation of simcity sometime in 2011 or later. If that is true they would have to be working on the game right now and I haven't heard of any leaked reports of this happening.

Actually, it is an impossibility, as EA has simply absorbed Maxis into it's corrupted mass, making the team de-facto kaput.

I think we all just have to bid a fond farewell to the sim city franchise.

Even if there is ever a sim city 5, as long as EA is in charge of it, it will suck.

Hopefully, some day one of the many small, independent city builder projects will see some fruit.

Someone needs to tell Will Wright to stop his weird TV idea and come back to the fans that made him popular in the first place. It doesn't matter if it's a Maxis game or not, what matters if it's designed by Wright - even if he wouldn't legally be able to call it SimCity 5. I hate that EA has killed Maxis, but I hate even more that Will Wright seems to have forgotten about us.

The problem with city simulators is that it is difficult to find the right audience. Many kids today now play games like L4D, COD, BF etc etc. The old skool players are still on their old games.

Then it all comes down to finances, if a game doesn't make enough profit, they try different plans until they completely abandon it.

Same happened to SC4, it was too difficult but it reported good profits. EA decided to make the game easier hoping to gain a wider audience. And we all know how it went.

Agreed, I first picked up simcity with simcity 2000 and was hooked. I skipped simcity 3000 and went straight to simcity 4 and was just blown away when i saw the level of detail and personalization of each city. The ability to control tax rates for the separate industries,business and home and the levels of all of them, to be able to control how the city looks, zones designation, terraforming, connections, neighbours, make it an island getaway to a manufacturing center, to a center of business, i can keep going.

Then Simcity Societies came out, now i download the game only to try it out and i died a little bit inside and the same day i installed it, i deleted it, and made sure that it was never be able to be installed on my computer again. then i continued to play simcity 4 until monte cristo annoucned cities xl and at first i was like yay. The next game that will hopefully be a replacement for simcity.

Went and bought it and installed it. I was dissapointed. The next simcity game turned out to be midiocre in my opinion and not worthy of its title. I mean the low content of the game, The locked items in the begining that were locked and the overall gameplay made me cringe inside and go back to simcity 4 and continu playing it.

So, overall, i think that EA should get off it a** and actually make a simcity game that is worthy of us hardcore fans. I don't know about you but i loved the micromanage style and the complex city management because lets face it, Managing a real city is not easy so why would they make it easy in a simulator? Plus it was fun being able to make each city unique rather than having it the same management style as all other cities. That there is my little rant and sorry for dragging it on but i thought that this is something that demended a well thought out answer.

forget petitions. they never work. and EA would probably not even give us a number. So far as I can tell, ST and other communities like it are the facilitators of SC5, better known as DLC. So long as BATers and Modders keep on creatin', and communities keep on supportin', we'll keep on goin', till we get to higher ground.

Seriously though, the only way SC5 would benefit a community with so much extra content in a previous game is if the new game incorporates current mods and buildings. Sure, a technology upgrade would be useful for a 7 year old game, but unless the developers integrate player made mods and ideas, the game could collapse on itself.
