sorry but nearly done? it seems to me as you still need to do a couple of things before calling this done, first of all I am assuming you still going to add windows and textures...

SO lets start with what you got. Have you corrected the height? What is the parapet thickness and its height also seems as you should be more careful with your modeling, I have marked some details in green.

OK, so it was a lot of time before i posted here,

but i am kind of stared BATing again :)

Well, so here is my Current project:

    BAT-1-2.jpg

Its is a small modern office building, built in the 1990's

    found in Tel-Aviv.

The building it self stands alone, but i made it also a w2w.

    so it is both.

    Improvements anyone? :)

I think i am done, and i think to release it as a CO$$ with 95 Jobs.

    BAT-3.jpg

Before i render it, do i need to improve something? :)

Hi nice little model you got there

some things you could improve before releasing: parapets are too wide, the ac units are too thick and too repetitive, and for the textures your white is umn too white, it probably won't look nice game usually white walls look better if you make it a bit grey with slightly tone of yellow or pink...

You also have a weird shadows in one of the walls maybe some vertices that need welding? or smoothing groups? SimFox can come and prove me wrong :)

Harishna: Well, i fixed some of these problems. I changed the thickness of the ACs and replaced he white walls texture.

Oh, and i replaced the entire parapets in the BAT.

Am i done before the release? :)

.. well... you could consider it done...

but if you work on the roof junk, wall textures, and scale down the AC units hanging off the side of the building, you will get a much better rating when you upload it. 44.gif

the parapet walls are still too thick as well try to make them around 30 cm thick... and I think you still have too many ac unit that all look the same you can add other things to the roof beside them like antennas..and just out of curiosity what is the floor height?

Looks good...but the wall textures aren't very well defined, I can really only see the color and not the actual texture of the walls. I like the roof texture, but the units on the roof look a bit like stereo speakers right now. And yeah the parapet walls are still a bit thick but other than that I'm impressed, a very nice model :thumb:

its been a while sience the last time i tried to BAT... i opened Gmax, and the worst have happened:

    bwhaha.jpg

So i began BATing a new building, in fact, a small 3 building pack of soviet styled apartments :)

    (yeah, ST needs them :sly:)

so the first one is a small apartment from Israel, though it was never communist, many buildings in this style were build for social residents back in the 70's in many cities of Israel.

    ilbat1.jpg

So.. i am not done yet, but details and roof junk are coming soon ;)

oh and the 2 other BATs

    Use the Autoback save:

open Gmax and choose "open". Browse to the Autoback folder (C:\gmax\autoback). Choose "all files" and you'll see the latest saves.

    autoback.jpg

Choose the most recent file that works

That should bring back your building...

I only hope that it hasn't been replaced with your new project?

    Good luck

Edit: I've had the same problem, solved it with this solution thanks to SimHoTToDDy!

about your new project well the grimy texture does not works for me, not only too repetitive but it almost looks like running makeup to me but I guess it is early to talk about textures when you haven't finished modeling.

Good luck retrieving your old BATs

    Triple post -.-

    anyways..

    bat2r.jpg

Roof junk, its a small residential, so i dont know what roof junk to add :\

    please help me

oh, and i started a concept of the second model, it is built on the lower parts of the city, in the mid 90s.

when soviet Jews came to Israel (*cough* mom), there were a million of them.

so they all needed a place to live, right?

    many targeted Netanya and Ashdod.

this BAT is from Ashdod, and it is also quit generic for the buildings that were built in the south.

    bat3gc.jpg

    batconcept.jpg

though this ^ is the building i planned, i kind of made it to something else, but the colors are going to be the same.

so now i want to focus on the first BAT, and improvements?

And what a color patter that thingy is! Rainbow Ashdod :D

Hmm... I would add some cladding ("flashing") to the top side of the parapet walls. You know, it looks a bit odd when there are dirt streaks running down the sides of the building, but the top of the parapet is squeaky clean. Speaking of the parapet walls, they might look a tad better if you made them thinner.

Otherwise, Vlasky has a point when he mentions the roof access. Some TV aerials may also be in order. I've never been to Israel, but since it's a warm country, do they perhaps have solar-heated water tanks up there? In any case, I'd see if I can get some photos of rooftops if I were you. This should give you a general idea of what to expect on such a roof.

The walls don't look bad, but the windows are somewhat "dead" and monotonous. I think the BAT comes with a default window texture that's actually not too bad for buildings with smaller, individual windows. If you look at the photo of the building you posted, you will notice that the windows don't appear nearly black - especially the larger ones usually have curtains etc, and you could try to mimick that. I also recommend taking a look at JasonCW's and nofunk's BATs. They belong to a totally different style, of course, but the windows are something you might go for.

Btw, I just scrolled through this page from top to bottom, and I must say that you have made good progress so far! :) You're constantly getting better - keep it up!

    Vlad: spasipa! :D

T-wreck: i still dont know what to do about making the top grimmy like the wall, but here is what i tried to do:

(btw there the yellow blox is a roof exit .. i dont know what to do with it .. ill figure it out later .. maybe :| )

    [about the windows]

i made kind of a wierd shutter .. though i kind of think it works :uhm:

    progress1u.jpg

so .. what should i do first :

    A) take care of the windows

    B) add roof junk

    C) it fine ( yeah like you would dare pick it >_>)

    Hey kakado.

There's a lot to do before you can share this building on the ST.

An example is the roof. It's much too empty! Maybe you should add some windows in the roof or a little acces-to-the-roof-room. Antennas would look fine too. The textures are going better. As I compare it to your first building, but you have to know that it isn't perfect. The brown texture looks stretched and the other textures are odd. Look at the beige texture. At the sides there are stains. But on the top of the railing it's just a clean beige texture. Try to minimize these sorts of oddity's

Also the pillars at the bottom of the building. Maybe you should make them a bit dirtier or give them a whole new look. If you're working in MAX you could decide to add some bumps to make the concrete more real.

I like your work so far. I just didn't saw your thread, but keep it up like this.

A simple way to assign different textures to different objects its to detach them if you edit poly and then detach the polygons you going to apply a different texture

    Try 3:

    for god sake gmax!

    why me? :(

it crashed and there is no autoback >_>

this is my last try.. if it crashes again ... i will kill my self

    progress1.jpg

Choose option A, or B .. i would have go with B.. but its your choice ;)

Its a small modular W2W, that the builder can place in a row to create different sises of buildings

i started it today ... so .. what do you think? :)
