You could have edit Kobi Perez (or whoever it was hehehe) out of the soundtrack to spare the world from him... Great historic document though! And you are making israeli pre-fabs, I thought it was soviet... I think buildings like those are ugly as hell and could really fit in simcity, to be a great part of a rndown city, or maybe a reconstruction of Israeli cities.

It looks done. I'm sure you won't get any complaints if you released it as is. :)

I'm assuming the night lights will be something simple for a simple(in appearance) building.

Always nice to have some apartments.

    question,

i want to BAT a prefab, but there is a problem. You see those lines in between plates? (i hop you understand what i mean :P )

anyways, i want to ask you how to model them,

and i don't know what you need to do about it.

Is it in the modeling? (that's why i havn't started BATting it yet so i won't need to start over if it is)

    Is is related to textures?

please tell me , thank uou :)

Instead of applying a texture and then uvw map it so that it takes the whole wall, you take a screen shot infront of the wall, go on photoshop and make the texture as you want. That way you can easily add dirt under the windows and the black lines you were questioning about. :)

    That's how i would have done. :P

    I KNOW I KNOW i know ,

there is a lot of work in this one,

and this is not exactly the end of modeling

but i wanted to see if i am doing those lines in between plates right

    or wrong

and if it is wrong, please tell me how can i improve it

am i in the right direction?

Apart from the building looking depressing and like a jail, it looks good :P

But I may suggest to change that green texture, it is too clean and doesnt fit in.

Those seams and plates, I'd say you did a good job fitting them right onto the model. :)

EDIT: Upon closer inspection(funny how you notice things at a second or third glance) some areas that could be adjusted-

    2lnjqk8.png

Red: I notice there's a seam here but I had thought it was actually where the wall cut off but I was wrong. Now in the blue areas there is no seam like that. So I would say either add that "end" seam to the blue areas or remove that "end" seam in the red areas if you can. I mean some people may or may not notice it. So it's purely up to you. :)

Now saturation wise of the texture itself, I think that could be improved. ;)

Sgt Pepper, If you look closely on the top of the wall where there appears to be no seam, you'll see a seam running over the top. My guess is that there is a seam but it isn't rendered because it is to thin and ends up between 2 columns of pixels. My suggestion is: make the seams a bit wider, at least the vertical ones. As for the texture saturation, My experience is that textures that look fine in preview on a black or grey background look much less saturated in simcity with a more colorfull environment. So even now your building looks brownish, in game it might appear more to be a warm grey. You'd have to check it out to see how it works ;)

well , do you think how to solve the problem of your BAT? HECK NO !

i just moved the seams to the back and took care of it. and i saw that in the building i based it on , the seams are in the back so... yeah

    anyways,

i added the ground floor that in Israel it is mostly pillars.

here is the building i based the BAT on

and i said : "Based " not made exactly.

    picforstlollongtitle.jpg

the building it self is on pillars and some base with stairs. this was THE thing until the 80's when they discovered that one little earthquake and bam, the building's gone, then they stopped doing it on pillars. although this, today they still build with pillars but the base of the building is much bigger.

anyways i made 2 textures for this one,

one clean and one dirty. those buildings are in my city and i pass near them nearly everyday. here the pillars are white and maintained so i made 2 textures. although i want a clean neat version, a dirty one will also be good so now i need to decide on it.

I like the top one better. :) Looking good so far. Oh and that little repositioning of the seams did make a good subtle difference.

If I may ask what happened to that other apartment BAT you had on the previous page? It looked just about done.

Not sure about that BAT problem and Heck no statement or who it was directed at. But okay. :P

i still need to do something about the top of the walls and texture it ( something i just noticed)

and the roof , i didn't do anything about it - yet ( noticed that an hour ago )

at first i started BATting an Israeli building from the city of Dimona , but then I changed my mind about the textures and textured it euro... ly ..

meaning white with those seams and windows are larger .

i think it came out quite nice i guess

This is looking Great so far!! You should try taking away that dirty texture at the top of the walls, It doesn't look that good in my opinion.

If you want to know which would be better, post a render without the dirty top next to this one and see what other people have to say.

The only reason it doesn't look that good is because all the other parts of the building have light weathering (a tad amount of dirtyness) while the top looks out-of-place by being more cruddy.

I'm not sure if those 3 entries are going to be doors or open to the stairs, but those need work. And don't forget roof junk! lol

Best of Luck on the rest of the BAT!!! :D

Yes, that looks much better! :D The yellow top could be a little less dirty too, but I don't want to be too critical. The white top is perfect!! :golly:

All of the big details are pretty spot on, but it lacks the smaller details. Add some wires and bathroom vents and such to the roofs; other stuff like a small lamp above the door (which I think could use some rescaling; I generally stick to ~2.5-3 feet x 7-8 feet for doors like that). Once you do that I think it'll be a stellar BAT

    Oh darn!

    about the roof

    prog5.jpg

and yes, I made the doors smaller, and the side texture is a little whiter because it looked kinda odd i guess ..

I think it looks really nice.

Something you could do is add some different balcony junk for each version, and also make a slightly different roof texture for each version. It might only take 15 minutes to make changes for each version, but since you're already doing all of that exporting you might as well take advantage of it to add more variation. :)

For the latest BAT I tried to give it a more deeper red and grey texture because now when i looked at it, it seemed a little cartoonish..

    abtabt.jpg

well i didn't do a good work with mapping it , because I was just experiencing with it a while to see what will do the best..

and for the Israeli Bat project:
    prog3t.jpg

it is really just the start of it, nothing special and I am trying out textures , wanted to know how it looks right now..
a prefab from the late 70's (when prefabs in Israel came to near extinction)
in fact, I lived in one of these buildings and  they are great I have to say ..

    Short History:
The building is called here an H building due to it's H shape, 4 apartments in each floor, gave the residents 3 air directions, had 3-4 rooms at the time ( now 4-5 are more popular)
each apartment had 3 balconies as you can see- 2 in front , one on the side.
That type of building was introduced in the 70's and re-defined Israeli living standards. Until today most new residential buildings are H formed , but in the last few years less and less are built so I assume the H area is coming to an end. In the 70's they has balconies, then in the late 70's when architects saw Israelis close balconies they moved them to the back to what is known as a service balcony, which served as kind of a garage. Then in the 80's balconies are dropped off from the H until the 90's where the blaconies came back but very , very ... ugly.
