BTW, for some reason I seem to have issues using Opera for browsing; the text editor doesn't seem to be compatible with Opera (i.e. the "Insert image" button doesn't work). This was never a probleme prior to v. 7..

@ A Nonny Moose : I don't know anything about programming, but I can see where you're going. It isn't the first thing I'd do but it's definately worth to take a look at.

Yeah, how about we get everything working before we go changing cosmetic code that comes with the software package, eh?

I just wanted to get that in the fix list. Sloppy programming like that should be fed pack to the packager. It militates against buying the package, because little sillinesses like that scream "BUGS!" to me. I've done many years of program QA, and things like this make me suspicious of the programmer's knowledge of his language and competency.

It's the same here on FF, It appears that the RTE will not load correctly, the "Use full editor" method still works.

This is a cosmetic issue, but I think it should be on the "fix sooner rather than later" list. In the forums, the first "reply" button should really have the caption "Quote". This is a simple fix in the control caption of the source, and should be done. A naive user (me originally) will be annoyed when the intention is to add a reply without a quote. All this inadvertent quoting must be taking up a lot of space.

Similarly, the "add reply" button should be promoted to the same line as the others, and changed to "reply". This is in conformance with ST6.0 and while this may seem picayune, from an end-user point of view, I find it annoying.

I have yet to find a use for the "Multi-quote" button. I hope that all these quotes, which are editable, are not stored anew unless they are modified.

If this were a commercial site, I am sure that more QA of the original package could have been done. I guess now that we have changed it, it is ours to abuse.

I very much like the quick editor. It saves a lot of fuss when the change is spacing or single letter changes.

I dislike how there isn't any more features like the old STEX that lets me search for things in more detail, for example, I don't want to see industrial buildings when I'm looking for parks or education buildings. Changing this would be extremely helpful to me, and many other people.

Hey guys. I run Flagfox, and I noticed that the server is now domiciled in the U.S. Is that accurate or is Flagfox a little buggy?

I don't have a 'Create new CJ' button

yeah, it's hard to find... :-)

Go to your 'old' CJ - there should be a link 'Edit City Journal Settings' (top right, in the block 'My CJ Links').

In the next screen there is a link 'Manage Your City Journals' (up in the breadcrumb).

In the following screen you can finally 'Create A CJ'

There may be an easier way - but I still have to find it...

The new CJ section seems a bit touchy on the iPhone... though bookmarked correctly on Safari for iPhone, I get a 404 error the first time out and it works the second time out. Weird...

I'm curious though on the STEX and Profile pages, couple of questions if anyone can answer (hopefully :))

1. Will tracked files be returning?

2. Will STEX profiles retur?n (where we could view download stats and ratings of specfic STEX uploaders), alternatively maybe these could be merged into the normal member profiles

3. The way the thumbnails are selected for STEX uploads are different to previous (before they select the top part of the image). The problem with the new thumbnails is that they select the middlepart of the picture and also don't show all of the side of the picture (hopefully you know what I mean). This is a really annoying problem as lots of upload screenshots were specifically made for the old system and perfectly fitted the thumbnails showing off the main part of the building or map people wanted to see (I've done this in a lot of my own uploads) whereas now the pictures are all over the place. I wonder if this can be changed back to how it worked before. Hope this makes sense, I'll explain more if necessary.

Thanks, and sorry if any of these questions have been answered before, didn't post this in STEX feedback as its morre likely to get answered here and I'm also mentioning normal ST profiles.

Cheers,

Richard

I think you will get that feature by clicking on the Like button. This causes advice if the file changes.

I've noticed an issue with commenting on cj's in the CJ section with Opera, it just doesn't work.

When you submit the comment it loads for a few seconds and then acts like it's done but the message never appears.

Also another thing about the CJ section, a simple first/previous/next/last control at the bottom of each update (not in the sidebar) would make things much easier to navigate.

Simtropolis server is now located in the US -- you can thank high Canadian hosting and bandwidth prices for that.

Has anyone else noticed that the chat bar at the bottom has gone, Simtropolis also appears to have gained some speed.

We should be a bit more speedier now. If your chatbar is gone, be sure to clear your cache, if it's still not showing up, please PM me your browser details.

1. Tracking is now called "Like".

2. This is in the works, but not currently a priority item.

3. Yes, again, in the works, trying to find an elegant solution that won't break the new platform we're on. I realize the new size has created a lot of eyesores and annoyances, but we're trying to get a decent solution.

That's very strange. I will take a look in Opera re: commenting.

Yes, we're working on improved navivation for the CJs, including Next Post Title and Previous Post Title as well as a "table of contents" where you can jump to any entry. I know it's a bit clunky to navigate now, but it will improve in time!

I got this too, I've started posting links using the code boxes otherwise no one would be able to see the dependencies for my upload. Hope they get this fixed soon, really annoying, I thought I was going mad trying to link to other files glad its not just me :)

I think my sig is OK. It has a link in it too. Testing ....

Sig is there but link appears to have been deleted.

Source for the link is in my profile. Don't understand where the actual link went.

The pictures in my posts seem to have disappeared. When I click the edit button, I can see them, but when viewing the topic, they have gone missing. (They're still available at imageshack.)

Or is it just me who has done something wrong? :P

(Is it still possible to directly upload pics, via Simtropolis, by the way?)

I know it's not really completely on topic (sorry!), but how do you directly upload images to ST? Is it via the attachments section?

Thanks! :)

Have a care with uploads. There is a rather low limit, and they go as attachments, not images. To post an image, it needs to be someplace with a URL.

Multiquote has stopped working, it just functions as 'quote' now.

How lovely ST looks today, all these wonderful colours :D
