I know we all just got here and there is still work left to do but what do you think so far about the new system?

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Well it definitely looks like a bulletin board. I would like to see more pictures though. But it's fast, and that's cool. Maybe because there are no pictures... :D

Anyway, I'm glad you guys are back!

Just got to say the new site is SWEET! The new theme has elements that sort of remind me of ST v4!

PS. Loving the facebook-esque style chat bar :thumb:

The forum layout looks clean and tidy, although the speed is terrible.

The City Journal section looks really messy and cluttered however, as does the Stex.

Personal view only, I just happened to like the old layouts.

Very nice, though I prefer other forum systems to this one. Still, good job!

I don't like how the avatar pane on posts is bigger, it looks out of proportion (but I guess this is just me getting used it), also it means I can only see 2 posts per page, even if those posts are one liners. Also the text in the reply/edit box is miniscule. And there's too much grey text on grey background (Eg Page 1 of 1, This post has been edited...), so if there was a little more contrast in some areas it would be even better. (In general the text feels too small, and the elements like posts and items on the STEX are too big)

Other than those 3 cosmetic details, I think the new version is awesome!!! It looks really modern and now makes v6 look it was from the 1990s, even though a few days ago v6 looked great. So it's at at least double as good as v6 :)

I'm liking it so far, but it's slow. It looks very streamlined compared to v6, and hopefully it gets faster as the bugs get fixed out.

The site looks amazing. It's a little facebook-knockoffish, but so far I think they actually did better than facebook, LOL.

The STEX looks nice too, in my opinion.

I like the look of the site so far, I REALLY like the fact that there is an area where you can see where you have been active - very nice. Anywhere to report bugs? In the CJ section it looks like I am no longer the author of my CJ...

Looks nice..

The minimum of 4 characters for search terms is too restrictive, too many abbreviations has only 3 characters (NAM, GLR, NVM, etc.)

It is good to see the site back up again. There's a lot of cool features I am eager to try out. A few questions come to mind as I explore...

1) Some formatting has been lost. Is there a global fix to losing %7Boption%7D pix with URL links in them or will I need to go back and edit those myself?

2) The URL has changed for the various forums. For example, https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/topic/24185-simtropolis-70-schulmania-style/#entry658003 is now what I get for the first page of my thread. Will I need to go back and edit links to the topics when the dust settles or can I still use a link such as https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=103986 at some point?

3) When a URL says this: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/topic/24185-simtropolis-70-schulmania-style/what will it be when I change the title of the thread? Will it still have the same URL or a new one based on the title? Or

4) Who is bensahurs?

Now, I am off to explore and learn. Woo hoo!

ST7.0 is more better than ST6.0, I think I'm living a ST renovated and inovated. Now I'm trying to get adapted in a new interface, that I started to undersant and I starting to love it.

Looks better than St 6.0!! I like the chat also (hmm...i don't know why, but it reminds me of a site called facebook...:P).

There's just one problem that's been bothering me for...months. It's the speed of the site. Hopefully, you guys will be able to solve this?

Hate to be a downer here, but it seems like ST took an "if it ain't broke, break it" approach this time around.

How come almost none of us can see our sigs? I wanted to show off my new GIF picture I made ( If no one can see it, it's this: EYW8NJ.gif ) Also, where are the smileys in the sig editor?:???:

It's making me dizzy, although that's to be expected whenever something you've gotten very used to changes significantly.

I don't care for the whole social networking angle (if I want that, I'll go to Facebook; here, I just want a forum), but eh, use of those features is completely optional, so it isn't a big deal.

Some tangential comments:

1) PNG avatars are allowed! Awesome sauce! 8) (on that note, though, how do you make an image smaller than 90x90 not stretch? Some people seem to have done it, so it must be possible...)

2) What is the definition an "active post"?

3) Is this reputation feature going to be sticking around? I recall that the user ratings were disabled shortly after ST5 launched because they were too easily abused.

4) We actually have a formal warning system!

I'll have to play with things some more before I really have a full handle on what's what.

Have png's been outlawed? In tidying up all the new/old forum code in the SLB thread I'm told "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board."

edit - Never mind. It works a lot better when I spell 'png' correctly.

How come almost none of us can see our sigs?

Didn't read SUSHI then I take it ;) Sigs were not transferred, they had to be backed up in advance.

First off, it's considerably slower than before. Second (and this is only my opinion), the STEX layout is more difficult to navigate than before, while the four character minimum for the search means you can't search things like "SG" or "NAM" or "BSC," which is vital when a majority of the prop packs use abbreviations in the title. Info for specific files in the STEX have a more confusing layout as well.

By no means is 7 terrible; it's not. But my point is that there was nothing wrong with 6. The layout was easy to navigate, it was slow (but not as slow as 7), and the search function was quick and easy.

I'm really loving ST 7.0! I like the social network feel to it, and the features are awesome. I'm really excited about it!

Also regarding the slowness, it will pick up soon. After a major upgrade I expected it to be slow but it should pick up to normal speeds again soon :)

Like the new layout. but not the color.

Though i dont think current events should be a sub forum of Off topic.

Interesting it says my current avatar is the one i always use but

its dont show up.

also the diminsions on pics in the signature is a very wierd 300x50

which dont help a tallish logo of a certian university.

Maybe I'm in a downer mood, but I really detest the web 2.0 aesthetic of white background with tiny medium or dark gray text that has been infiltrating websites with the rise of Facebook.

Meetup.com kicked my social group in the face with such a change last month, and I cannot fathom this sort of trending.

I'm sort of bummed that ST took this direction as well. In some areas, text is so miniscule that one wonders why it's even needed. In fact, I'm squinting to read what I'm typing as I type it, with my nose hovering near the screen.

I love it!! :D

My only suggestion?

The Stex page needs to be a little more user friendly.

It seems like I'm browsing through a magazine or something and that my attention is need to all aspects of the Stex.. but other than that, it's great! I love it.

THANKS DIRK!! :D
