your worst city ever.

Worst city was the first one I'd ever built. SC4 was the first SimCity I played, and my first city was a disaster. I had barely a couple hundred people and the budget was way in the red, people were fleeing the taxes, and everyone was on strike. Eventually I decided to blow up the city and then obliterate it. I owe this failure to the sucky Mayor Tutorial in the original game, which did a great job of teaching me how to waste money, and didn't mention even one way to keep my city out of the red.

Believe it or not, I used to make bad cities myself.

Note how I said "believe it or not." You don't have to believe it. 2.gif

on Simcity 3000 Unlimited...a city called Cherryville (my first ever city on any SimCity, it was my first simcity) where there was a lot of coal power plants, incinerators, and riots next to the Zeke's home residential areas. Not very much commercial except for Lick's Ice Cream and Corner Gas places, and a lot of "Nor Any Drop To Drink, Water Grid Reaches Few" messages. I ended up losing that game to destruction.

on SimCity 4 deluxe...I'd have to say the worst one is Nags Head. I made a region called North Carolina, and I'm making a realistic region of the state North Carolina out of it (with realistic mayor names), except for one difference: a ficticious pleasure city called Prancelina mayored by me. I made Nags Head with a lot of terrorism facilities, the toxic waste conversion plant, Area 4.1 (Which I renamed the Nags Head Terrorist Center) and an evil army base. It's an evil small city with over 11,000 helpless poor sims.

Well, most if not all of the cities I've been building since I got this game (about 3 days ago) have failed (or at least, gone some way towards failure). I think it's because I keep developing too fast, and spending all the funds.

It seems like a pretty good example of a badly planned industrial city.. I actually kinda like the gritty, blocky look, eh heh.

I too am one of those who is not happy with any city, but the worst was fairly recent and consisted of an entire large tile completely built out with no regard for planning. Population reached 900,000 but half of the R$$ and R$$$ was abandoned or degraded, schools constantly on strike, poor healthcare, and terrible layout.

All my cities have been bad.

I see the cities on the CJ and I cry.

Ha ha ha ha, no but seriously. It's true.

I cry big tears of jealousy.

Don't worry. It is not difficult to build a nice city. CJ's are the best example. I learnt building good cities from there!

Like so many others my worst city is my first one.  And second one, and third one too.  They were jumbles of everything, and horribly planned.

Only used streets and road, and traffic was HORRIBLE.  Bus stops were way too far apart, and subway just didn't work.  Pollution was so high no one could actually have lived there, or at least no one would have wanted to.

But without them I could never have learned.

My worst city would have to be Hellvue. I tried to make a place where I could combine all of my power providers into one Medium Tile. I did just that and began to export the power, but as the demand grew, so did the need for more power stations. I ended up with quite a few, so I thought, what the hell ? Why not just pump this thing full of pollution. So I did, then I filled up whatever was left with heavy industrial and jails. There were docks and a fairly massive rail system to transport almost every resident out for the work day. The population is around 39,000 Sims at any given time with an education level of around 10, health of 0, and life span of 50. Air pollution sits at a comfy 46-4700 while crime is high and commute times a pain in the ass. I'm 2 bars away from being totally in red on mayor rating. Riots, grime, the works. Fun isn't it ?

i have had many "worst cities ever"

i am constantly learning new things (even though i have been playing since the begining), and am applying my ideas to new regions all the time. that is why it is so hard for me to keep up with a cj, i get new ideas and move to a new region to try out my new ideas. each of my regions is better than the last!

Worst city ever was a city called Landville. Appropriate name really. I tried a farming town with a small city centre right in the middle Had the lowest education ever the ugliest R$ buildings and a major problem. I realize that my monorail link was supposed to pass through the area and I had forgotten about it and I needed to run a line through the damn middle of the city for it to link appropriately with the other side. So yeah it was a horrible sight to look at then since now it cut right through the middle of the map and the terrain loonked horrible with it. Thankfully I had downloaded the lot which makes the nuclear explosions. Good fun. lol

Thanks to the CJ i am getting ideas for my cities now and how to organize them a little. I try a little blend of Sci Fi inspired by 2ch.net.player (Thats how its spelled right??) and a mix of modernism of the good old 21st century.
