Bit of a delay I had there... lol

    update15.png

So we're taking a minor detour from our route and visiting a construction site on H24. It's not exactly the construction style you'd see like in Tarkus's excellent CJ Tarkusian CIties, but more of how the project would progress in the most bare-bones way (at least there's dirt later on).

This interchange has been a bottleneck for Jordan Ave (running N/S here) and isn't exactly the best interchange in the first place (although the reasoning for the loop ramps was to increase the space for commuters to change lanes before the Kaoi Mega Interchange (H24 x H27S (toll) x H424 (Capital Beltway) x H17).

    kaoi-01.jpg

    Trees and soundwalls cleared away

    kaoi-02.jpg

Ramp foundations and Jordan Ave widening. Also extending Firing Rd (the TLA-7 in the bottom corner) to intersect.

    kaoi-03.jpg

We'll now focus on the interchange itself. Asphalt has already been laid for the temporary ramps (and dirt now exists)

    kaoi-04.jpg

    kaoi-05.jpg

Temporary overpass for H24 being built. Old ramps have been disconnected and the temp ramps are in place

    kaoi-06.jpg

The area was shut down for a while as they tore down the old overpass and finished the temporary overpass, resulting in

    kaoi-07.jpg

    Overpasses for H24 completed

    kaoi-08.jpg

    Temporary overpass removed

    kaoi-09.jpg

This is far from done, as you can tell. The temporary ramps will be moved again to make space for the actual interchange, and we'll fix up the rest.

EDIT: Sorry I haven't been around the CJs in a while so i haven't been able to keep up, I will make an effort to now though.

Strange that you would build new freeway overpasses to replace a surface road overpass since freeways tend to carry more traffic, have a larger footprint, and thus cost more. Anyways, great construction pictures. Love how to handled replacing the overpasses by having freeway traffic divert to one bridge!!!

    Nice update, but....

If any of you notices, there is a case of St. Ritzy infestation on the upper right side of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pics :P

    update16.png

Sorry to keep all of you waiting, in terms of SC4 I've mostly been working on parts of the region... I'll just let the region views do the work

    Region view

    Region transport view

    Region map

Coming out of Logan, we pass through the corner of Dyfania (terrible name, I know, I had no creativity at the time)

This image is slightly touched up

    dyfania_mosaic01_export.jpg

A look at Bolovov Expwy at the interchange

    dyfania-interchange01.jpg

We then enter the north side of Aurora. We're about to get onto the Turnpike, so get your wallet ready, unless you have GreenPASS ;)

The interchange is unique because it used to be a simple parclo with an avenue, and had to be upgraded in the same space

    aurora_mosaic01_export.jpg

Merging with the turnpike. We don't pass under that sign, but I included it to help get a sense of which goes where

    aurora_tat_interchange01.jpg

We're now leaving the Ravenna suburbs and heading into open land

    aurora_leaving01.jpg

As we haven't shown the finished product at H24-Jordan Ave, and I really couldn't bother to make a full update about it, here's the completed area

    kaoi_finishedinterchange01.jpg

I've also been forced to upgrade portions of the Capital Beltway due to increased traffic.

This stretch used to be just a 6C/8C with a short portion having a RHW-4 collector

    kagochi_precondition01.jpg

The area after. I tried to avoid seizing as much property as possible, hence the lack of soundwalls.

    kagochi_postcondition01.jpg

One of the interchanges not shown above. Used to be just a 6C folded diamond. We've added 6 to 10 lanes, which were sorely needed.

    kagochi_fullinterchange.jpg

The SPUI was replaced with an express-local diamond. (I'd preferred to have kept it a SPUI without the express access, but it didn't like the setup very much). Also note the glitch on the bridge (which is in beta!) was fixed :P

    kagochi_upgrades02.jpg

Closer look at another of the same bridge

    kagochi_bridge01.jpg

Well folks, that's all! I hope you enjoyed this update, and pardon the long break. Thanks for looking!
