I hear that, Spidey. Although when I saw Robert Plant in... 2002 was it? I can't recall but he rocked the joint. I even had a short conversation with him back stage. Very short. Nice guy. I've told that story so many times that I'm sure some of you have heard it, so I'll refrain from telling it again!

I read the other day that one thing that kept Led Zeppelin from doing a reunion show/tour for so long was the fact that Robert Plant couldn't bear the thought of doing Stairway every night along with an epic 15 minute solo by Page. He couldn't stand that song apparently. As we all know, Stairway is only permitted to be played when you are home alone and under the covers. Don't dare play it loud enough for the neighbors to hear!

Larks - Yes that was a sad day when Guru died. I didn't even know he was sick when it happened.

You just know the stores will all be closed when you get there, though.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

    Alright, people.

But since we are on the subject of epic rock gods, has anyone had a chance to see Brit Floyd? I wasn't privy to their existence until yesterday but I saw they were playing 2 shows in Pittsburgh next month so I snagged a few tickets for myself and some friends. I understand many of the members were involved with Australian Pink Floyd (I was very aware of them) and I watched some of their stuff on Youtube tonight. Top notch. Probably the next best thing to the actual Pink Floyd. I'm not one to see cover bands often but Floyd music is another story. Anyone a fan?

I like a bit of metaphysical nonsense in my music!

EDIT: I heard (uh, read) Robert Plant has more or less come to terms with the song in recent years, and that his hatred of it burned brightest in the 80s and 90s.  The members were all involved with different projects over the years, and the biggest reason Robert Plant backed out in '07 was because of his commitments to Alisson Strauss and their bluegrass touring.  They all have different stuff going on all the time, when one or two or three aren't busy, the other(s) is/are.

I hear John Bonham's son is a pretty wicked drummer.

I absolutely think that Neil Peart is a great drummer (all of Rush are great musicians).  But dude...  Bonham's a legend for a reason, and it's not just because of how hard he partied.

EDIT: Jason Bonham is indeed awesome.

I saw Rush back in 2010 and the drumming was killer. The drum kit Neil was using was epic! The show as a whole was really enjoyable. I had never seen them live before. It was a funny story, I suppose. My buddies and I came upon the tickets from a friend who is a local producer for Pirate games and other sport related productions so we got tickets in the FSN Pittsburgh (now called Root Sports) suite, which was pretty awesome. We went in and found we were sharing the suite with some older gentlemen (these suites can accommodate up to 20 people comfortably). We began introducing ourselves and one of the gentlemen introduced himself as Geddy Lee. Now, I know who Geddy Lee is but my crap hearing led me to think he said his name was Denny Lee. So I'm all "Nice to meet you, Denny." Clearly he was testing me to see if I knew jack about the band and thanks to my crappy hearing he likely assumed I didn't. It was a short while later when I realized what he actually said. Oh well. Who cares what that guy thinks? The show was killer!

    Notable drumming mention; Keith Moon.

Edit: here's a pic from the show.

I've been to a lot of concerts but most of them are back room of a bar, in a basement, in a park, etc. deals with bands you've probably never heard of. I did see Rush once, and that was the biggest most professional concert I've ever been to, and also by far the most I've ever paid for admission to one ($108, but it was worth it!). Other bands you've probably heard of that I've seen, at smaller events: Third Eye Blind (twice), Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray.

I've never met a rock star but I did get to meet Keiji Inafune (creator of Megaman) once. That was cool!

I bet you enjoyed that, Duke!

I had not been to a show in a long while (since 2010) up until 2 weeks ago when I saw Citizen Cope in Cleveland. That was a pretty good show. I have a few more in the near future I would like to see including KMFDM (but tickets are wicked expensive) and The Black Keys. No sign of the Deftones coming anytime soon unfortunately.

I think that by "wicked" they mean it in slang for something along the lines of "awesome", or at least that's my theory.

By the way, this is my 400th post. It's amazing how it took me a month to reach 200 from 125 and a week to go from 300 to 400. And yes, i did comment about my 300th post in this thread as well

Yeah, it's just one of those colloquialisms that may either be before your time or out of your region, yet likely a combination of both. It's predominately a Boston thing, but around ten years ago, as least the way I recall it, it was more well known. Either way, as Mr Saturn64 mentioned, it is very much a synonym for awesome, given the proper context of course.

Ah ok, I'm  not really too familiar with either Boston or British talk.

If something is awesome we usually call it tight or really awesome is hella tight.

Deserts can get very cold - the lack of cloud cover can send temperatures plummeting at night.

I'm not saying Arizona as a whole never gets any cold weather or snow. Up north in places like Flagstaff, rain and snow are nothing special, but in the valley, snow is extremely rare. I've only seen in "snow" in the valley twice, and what valley residents consider snow is much different than what people in the northeast consider snow. One inch of snow in the valley is cause for a snow day. :P

Anywho, the snow on the Superstitions looks quite pretty:
